So I got my instant pot last weekend at my bridal shower and OMG my life has been changed. So far I have made ribs and tonight I made BBQ chicken. I'm in love with this thing.

I made the honey burbon chicken last night with a few modifications, and it was a huge hit!

Being able to do potato salad in this has changed my life. It's like my favorite dish and I never made it because I hate all the steps. It's so easy now. I think I've made it once a week since prime day lol.

Yogurt do you have a link to your go to yogurt recipe? I want to attempt this tonight I think i used this old gals one. I'll look for a link. Basically heat milk to 180, cool to 110, add starter, incubate for 8-10 hours, strain. That's the procedure. Brb thisoldgal.com/instant-pot-greek-yogurt/2/

I think its better to leave yogurt plain and mix stuff in when you eat it.

Seems easy enough if I stick to the directions, which I have a problem doing.

Thanks! Seems easy enough if I stick to the directions, which I have a problem doing. Getting the temp back to 110 is the most important thing. You have to use a thermometer. If it's hotter than that you will fry your starter and I dont think it'll become yogurt.

Heating to 180 is also important because it makes sure you kill off any weird strains of shit in your milk.
Also once I added trader Joe's bourbon vanilla and it did something where the yogurt couldn't thicken. Now I don't mess with additions. Plain yogurt, homemade granola and maple syrup is my breakfast every day and it is so good.

One thing I hate about my Crockpot is how heavy the crock is to clean it. In looking at pics of the IP, it looks like it would much lighter and easier to clean. Is this IP so much better than a Crockpot? I need an IP now, don't I?

The part where the food goes (my brain can't think right now what to call it), is very light. Much easier to clean than a crockpot. Get you one. Don't make me tell you again! 😘

Don't you hate when you forget to start the crockpot? Well no problem, just throw in the frozen food into the ip and tada!

Is this IP so much better than a Crockpot? I need an IP now, don't I? You do. But also, I find that the whole unit quite heavy. I have to store it in the hall closet because it's so big (8qt) and it's heavy to lift up and down all the time. But the liner is easy and mine has cleaned really well in the dishwasher.

Go forth and populate the instant pot users. the ad shows the 3 qt for the $69.99 (i didn't price check the 6 qt) but kohl's has the 6 for about that.

I'm making the ribs right now and will be throwing in potatoes for mashed potatoes when the ribs come out. So excited for an easy dinner after a day at an amusement park.

I swear this thing has been a time saver for me. I did a chicken again yesterday and seperatly made a broth out of the carcass. Kids love chicken soup, made a big batch and portioned and froze.

I've been absent because I was doing a cleanse last week. But I fired up my IP today to make the Skinnytaste Chicken Soup for My Soul recipe today. It's so good. The recipe is in her book so I can't link but if you have the book, make it because, yum! And only 6 WW per serving. I'm going to eat it for lunch and dinner for the next few days.
I'm also doing my oatmeal and hard boiled eggs tonight so I have breakfast and snacks this week.

I need to cook a 5 lb bag of potatoes down to a mashed consistency (not for eating- it's for a school sensory walk). I have an 8 qt IP. Anyone tried mashed potatoes in the IP yet? Best way to do it?

I did about 2 lbs last night. I actually used the steamer basket so I wouldn't have to strain the water. I used a 1 1/2 cups of water and did high pressure for 8 minutes. They turned out great. Super easy to mash.

I've been living at work lately so we haven't done much cooking recently but tonight did Swedish meatballs in the IP. Swedish meatballs is one of my top favorite comfort foods, and the recipe turned out great. Even the picky ass big kid ate every bite. I used this recipe, my only change I'll make next time is to use a little more milk because I prefer it a little saucier, but I also didn't follow the measurements exactly, I usually eyeball stuff. But any dish that I can literally just toss everything into the pot & turn on gets a huge thumbs up from me. www.theeyesofaboy.com/2016/12/instant-pot-swedish-meatballs-recipe.html

We made the ribs AND mac and cheese in IP last night and it was sooo delicious. DS gobbled up the ribs and MH ate so much he almost had to be rolled from table. Plus, we cooked together so fam time bonus (ETA- That's MH's plate. He also ruins broccoli with cheese).
