So I’m still breastfeeding and no period yet. With DD1 I BF for 13 months and didn’t get it back until the month after I stopped. Send some of that juju my way. I’m still BFing with no period - it took about 9 mos to get it back with DD1 and it was awful. I’m really really hopefully it stays TF away. I have a paragard but ideally id like to have nothing.

Hey ladies!
Sorry I’ve been MIA. We were down in Florida for 10 days doing up Disney etc. It was a blast but it’s nice to be home. A definitely had a hard time with the switch to routine and has been napping a lot today.
Reading to catch up and now I want cookies. Damn.

Still no period for me but bfing and an iud(but still spotting intermittently). fwiw - with G we did formula and it was back by 6 weeks pp. cornpopif you’re concerned I’d get it checked out. Better to ask questions and have a reason than to sit and worry/wonder (imo)

This morning during nap, I watched B go from laying down to sitting up. So that was cool.
Then tonight he woke up and sat up so I said to SO that we’ll have to lower the crib soon. He was like, we have a while before he pulls up, it’s all good.
Literally a minute later, he was pulling himself up on the crib. So we had to go in and lower it at 10pm.
He also had another tooth pop through today. Like, there is no rush B. We don’t have to do all of this shit today.

(Well I’m assuming A did anyway) G had a great time, though a few of the characters were “scary” (as was everything). He had a few meltdowns but got used to the busy days. We definitely do not go on vacation to relax 😬

Baby has a cold and can’t/won’t sleep in her crib. I just tried to lay her down again because I’m an idiot and her nose plugged immediately and woke her up. I should have just snoozed in the chair. Now I’m trying to get the snot monster back to sleep. Toddler will be up v v soon so it looks like I’m up for the day. This baby will be fully broken when this cold is over. I always break my babies. They never crib.

this has been the longest week ever. i forgot we made plans to go to dinner with a bunch of h’s coworkers tomorrow (not exactly looking forward to this)...at 5. my mom is insisting that i go, but i feel like i won’t even be able to enjoy myself because i’ll be too stressed about dd2 going down for the night and not taking a bottle.

Your mom is right. The best way to solve this problem (the enjoying yourself part AND the bottle part) is to do it more often. You need to make time for YOU. Have fun!

cornpop I stopped Bfing around 3 months...maybe nursed once a day until 4 months. I got my first period about 5 months and have been getting it through the mini pill ever since. Annoying. Unless you're concerned about being/getting pregnant I probably wouldn't worry or talk to the doctor about it. It can take awhile for hormones to settle down.

The flu shot thread on GD has me wondering, are you all...gently encouraging your parents/ILs to get flu shots.? My parents and my FIL already have. But my MIL is terrified of shots and really does not want to. Last time I saw her I said how stupid it was because people literally die every year but I didn't push it. But...they watch the girls at least once a week. I'm really thinking I want to push it. Noelle got her first round of the flu shot but won't be fully vaccinated until she gets the second shot.
Also, can I just say, I find adults who are that terrified of needles very eye-roll worthy. LIke seriously? It hurts for about two seconds. You're an adult, you know this. Be rational.

cornpop I will definitely be encouraging our parents to get the flu shot. I’ve been pushing H to get his but he hasn’t yet. 🙄 We only see our parents once a month max but I’d still prefer they get it.

It’s insane how quickly they grow. I feel like a real mom saying that but damn if it isn’t true.

With my first I was very gentle. Please get it.
With #2 I’m like, get it or I don’t fuck with you.
I successfully scared everyone into flu shots and TDAPs 😂

ArielMermaid, the problem with me saying literally ANYTHING to my MIL is that this happens...
What I say: "I would really like you to get the flu shot because I'm afraid N or E will catch it and literally die."
What she hears: "You think I'm placing your child in harms way because I'm dirty/careless/reckless/etc."
And even if it's my H that says it to her, they automatically assume it's coming from me because he has a penis and therefore can't have any opinions about how his children are cared for.

I guess say yeah, you’re worried? If you can’t win you can’t win right? I’d rather her be mad and vaccinated than mad and not? That is some real bullshit though.

You could yes it is a bit reckless to not get the flu shot when you are around the kids.

I haven’t pushed it ever with anyone ever though. And up until DS1 was born, I didn’t even get it out of sheer laziness. Now we all get it and I feel like the flu has been terrible the last few years or I’m paying more attention. So live and learn. We got L’s already and B’s first dose. When I take him to get the second dose I’ll get mine

"You think I'm placing your child in harms way because I'm dirty/careless/reckless/etc." I mean, by negligence, yes this is what she is doing. If my mom accusing me of thinking that I would say "You got it!" It's not like you're asking her to get it just to control her. I talked to MIL yesterday about them getting it. She said she will go to Wegmans and check it out. I suggested it last year and yesterday she said they had told her it was $140. So I can understand her hesitation. Also the in-laws have PA Dutch heritage that is very much home remedy leaning which is why they haven't been getting it. I encouraged her that they're over 65 so high risk plus Medicaid will cover it. My parents are 1800 miles away so I will let them live in their anti-vaxness until they try to come see DS. Then we will fight. 🙄

Oh no leatherpants our babies are co-conspirators in growing up too fast. L woke up from his nap and pulled up on the side of the crib to his knees. Crib mattress is getting lowered tonight.

DH jokes about helping DD2 crawl and I shut that shit down. DNW A MOBILE BABY.
Re: flu shots - It’s free (or extremely low cost) A LOT of places so there’s really little to no excuse. I’m going to go after Halloween (I’m sensitive to it and don’t want to be sick for the holiday or OTF hell week, plus I’m solo parenting. Again.) I’m going it take DD1 with me so she can watch and hold my hand. I’m hoping it’ll help her not be too scared.
My parents and DH get it. I convinced a former coworker and a bunch of moms in a local Facebook to get it. IMHO there’s no reason not to baring extenuating circumstances.

Well I’m glad I spent naptime getting ready for our family pictures... that were just cancelled. Stupid rain. I knew it was a possibility but I figured I better get ready anyway just in case. We’re rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon so hopefully this rain clears up!
