Toddler got sick Sunday. Baby seems to be getting it today. Send help! Baby was been weird last night screaming and not sleeping unless held. We took turns sleeping downstairs in the chair with her. Now I’m realizing it was her teething and coming down with the cold.

Plugged duct is gone. I massaged and pumped at work with not much change, but then L nursed and it was like magic!

+ whatever to everything everone has talked about. E is an awful sleeper and I'm feeling exhausted, anxious and lost about the workload and lack of identity as a sahm. We are moving into a new rental on the 6th (without my parents, hurrah!) and that's stressful as well. Both kids have had colds the last few days and I started feeling a sore throat coming on yesterday afternoon. It got bad enough today that I had to call SO home so I could go get a throat swab for strep. It was negative so yay. But I feel like I got hit by a truck and can hardly swallow. I hope everyone else fighting colds feels better soon! So glad N is ok mintyblueair

I’m so annoyed with myself. I just bought and washed a heap of size 1 singlets and tops for DS2. Like yesterday. As I’m packing this morning for iminent move (still no house to buy sob), I find a box of DS1’s old clothes I’d put away in size 1 that I forgot about. What a waste of money! He won’t be in them for long either as even though he’s not close to the weight limit for the clothes his long squishy belly means the suits barely button. Damn damn damn.

Can you sell them on Kidizen or Poshmark? Or don't you have anything like that there? Unworn even washed and without tags should sell.

Glad it’s not strep snowmoon, but I hope you and the kids get well soon. Sore throats are the worst. You never realize how much you take the simple act of swallowing for granted until you get sick and that simple act now feels like one million daggers in your throat.

I just got accepted to the nearby University for the spring semester. I’m really hoping I’ll have my teacher license renewed by the end of summer. I probably won’t have it in time to teach the next school year, but it looks like my days of being a sahm are coming to an end! I’ve been a sahm for 5 years, but I think it will do my mental health a lot of good to go back to work. That’s awesome! Forgive me if you’ve mentioned before, but what do you teach? Thanks! I have a degree to teach music. The job market was non existent back home so I haven’t actually taught full time and my license expired. I found out that apparently there’s a music teacher shortage here when S started school. Her school actually had a position open and it got me excited about the prospect of trying to teach again. Unfortunately, my license expired so I’ve been playing phone tag between the school system, the Va dept of education, the TN depart of education, and the local university trying to figure out what I need to do. Lol, I remember now why I didn’t bother getting my license renewed when I wasn’t able to find a job. Lots and lots of hoops to jump through.

Sorry to everyone with illnesses in their homes. Hopefully everyone feels better soon!
J’s been really fussy today and I thought he was coming down with something too. Fussy, not sleeping well, feeling warmer than normal. Well, today after lunch I found the reason. He has a tooth that just broke through.

SO got his vasectomy today. Which I fully supported and encouraged - strongly but I’m still a wee bit sad. No more babies over here.
Also I alternate between sadness and sheer incredulity at the quickness and relative lack of hassle it is compared to childbirth, birth control and even an IUD insertion. Plus he got fucking cookies to take home in his care package. Men.

I get so annoyed with some people on BST groups too nevertoomanyshoes. Don’t try to sell used kids rain boots for $15 with the comment “they’re muddy, so they could use a good scrub” along with a picture of them in their used muddy state. You could at least run them under a hose before you try to sell them.

Okay so I want to take L trick or treating next week. It will be super brief, just stopping at a few houses on our street since it’s his first Halloween, but I’m feeling weird about going up to houses with a baby who clearly isn’t going to eat the candy. I don’t want to hold out a bag, so do I just awkwardly say hi when the open the door and then decline the candy they might offer? I was thinking of making cookies and putting a few in treat bags for the houses we stop at. Like “hey, no candy for us but thanks for being a good neighbor”? Would that be weird? I acknowledge that I’m overthinking this.

I acknowledge that I’m overthinking this. I wouldn’t do it all TBH but that’s just me. Do you have a local festival or church trunk or treat? Or friends with kids that can actually TOT you could tag along with for a few houses? ETA: you could also post up at the end of your driveway or on the front porch to hand out candy with L in costume. We do this and have a chili/hot dog bar with lots of apps and a keg. It’s SO much fun. Lots of our neighbors will contribute to the potluck and we all roast marshmallows at the end.

leatherpants I didn't get cookies for my IUD. This is unfair. Apparently THE doctor to go to in our town gives Starbucks gift cards for all vasectomies. So what I thought was the pile driving was not the pile driving. It has started and it is loud and shaking the house. Maybe the consistency of the noise will just become part of L's white noise?

Starbucks gift cards. For giving birth I got a spray bottle for my vagina. Totes the same.

Fuck the patriarchy. Women get protesters when getting BC while men get showered with gifts.

clementine, I looooove Halloween but did not go ToT with E when she was this age. What about just having L with you while you hand out candy? In our neighborhood a lot of people just hang out on their porches while handing out candy so you could just have him out there. I'd think that'd be less awkward. Has everyone's (anyone's?) period come back? N is seven months, I've never BFing. It was definitely back for several months at this point with E. I'm just wondering if I should call the dr at some point.

cornpop I’m BF but no period yet. Took 10 months with DS1 so I’m expecting a few more months before it shows again (will probably start tomorrow now I’ve written that lol). Did you have irregular cycles before you were pregnant? ETA: I’d probably mention it to your doc.

Leaf 🌱, That sounds like an awesome Halloween tradition. I want to be your neighbor! My street is full of olds that don’t really do anything fun like that. clementine, Are you friendly with your neighbors? If you are maybe visit the ones your friendly with to show off how cute L is in his costume. I wouldn’t personally make cookies, but that’s just me, For DDs first Halloween we took her to the zoo for Zoo Boo. This is the first year we’re not going. I’m a little sad, but both of the weekends they are having it this year are booked up with other activities.

We’re friendly with a few neighbors, so I figured we’d just stop at their houses. We have a decent amount of kids in our neighborhood, but for some reason we hardly get any trick or treaters. I’d love to sit out in our driveway and pass out candy, but I’m not going to be out there for an hour just to see 3 kids, which is how many came by last year. Idk, we’ll see how I feel on Wednesday.

So I’m still breastfeeding and no period yet. With DD1 I BF for 13 months and didn’t get it back until the month after I stopped.
