So ds woke up at 930 and 1030 and then slept until 3:45am. My boobs were dying!! I hate that transitional bit when you’re so uncomfortable you can sleep, but baby’s asleep, so it’s good. Maybe this will last.

This week starts to pick up the falls activity pace a bit as I start working two days a week. It’s only a few hours but it’s “one more thing”. We will see how it goes.

Its a crazy week over here. First full week of school for DS. DS has soccer from 6-7 tonight. I work until 7 tomorrow night. Wednesday DS has OT at 3 (DH is taking him thankfully) and I have a meeting that starts at 7 at night. Thursday is our one night to be chill at home and Friday is DS's soccer game at 7. I'm tired just thinking about it all.

Mid-September? WHAT?!!
It is fall here!! I am meh on that because summer is my favorite. Oh well, I Ann having fun pulling out sweaters and boots. Also very excited for my leather jacket that's supposed to come tomorrow.
It's a rainy day and I have a clogged duct so I want to stay in bed but I need to go into town for my allergy shot. I'm also gonna walk over to the next building and chat with the lactation consultant for some advice and moral support.

It's cold and rainy and I am not prepared. I had the foresight to pull out all the kids'warm clothes but I myself have nothing to wear. I lost a lot of weight before getting pregnant last year so I had planned to go fall shopping but ended up in maternity clothes. I desperately need jeans.

So I thought L's 4 month sleep regression was him just deciding he couldn't be put down asleep and we would get off easy. Nope at 5.5 months the regression has hit full on. We now have early wakings, 45 min naps and night wakings every 1-2 hours.

Hi friends, I'm sorry I've been a little MIA. Life has just been a little hectic. DS2 has added in another wakeup or two at night this past week but he's been super congested, so I have everything crossed that once he's feeling better, he'll sleep more soundly.
For those of you that use the Dock-a-Tot, is it safe to use once they're rolling over? I've heard good things about it but I'm afraid we're out of the stage it's best for.
Also, we're sort-of househunting. I just wish I had a magic 8 ball to tell me what the market is going to do, because as first-time homebuyers, I have a pit in my stomach about potentially buying at the very top of the market if we're about to have another bubble burst. We just live in an insanely expensive area, but we're so ready to buy and we do have a downpayment.

I do t know your area, but I have three buyers waiting for that time. The market slows and people trying to sell want out.

dizzycooks We’re in Orange County, CA so the market is just ridiculous. We looked at a condo this past weekend that has been on the market for a month but we loved most things about, and it’s zoned for the schools we really want. So we’re kicking around putting in an offer, probably under asking. Inventory is just so low and it’s so competitive out here, it’s hard not to want to jump on something that looks like a potentially good fit. It’s just small, and a condo, and the price is still high.

A just did not want to nap this afternoon. It took over an hour for her to finally pass out and she was exhausted when I first put her down. On the plus, she slept a 5 hour stretch last night which hasn’t happened in a while.

Sorry for the plugged duct alwayscheese☹️ I always got them while BF’ing DD. Do you take sunflower lecithin? It’s supposed to help. The only thing that ever got clogs out for me was DD nursing until it was gone. They’re so frustrating, I hope you get good answers with the LC!

I did look up the sunflower lecithin last time when you recommended and KellyMom said to take it for x amount of days and if you quit getting clogged ducts then you could stop taking it. Well I'm getting them only a little more than once a month so I'm thinking it must be because of something like a tight bra? And yes I'm frustrated because Idk what it is. It's gone now, took about 24 hours. The other times it would be gone in the next two nursing sessions. And the lactation consultant was great and said she thought DS was getting enough and I didn't need to worry about my supply. Which, I just needed someone professional to comfort me lol. 😊

katietopaz DD2 is a back sleeper and likes her arms up over head so she is super comfy in the dockatot. She 100% can roll both ways with ease but just... doesn’t in the dock. She’ll STTN or only have one early morning wake up most nights. She can sleep in it until she’s 30 for all I care if she keeps being such a good sleeper. You can always get the bigger version - DD2 is a big almost 5mo and she’ll probably only fit in the small one for a couple months. As for house hunting, we live in a similar “constantly in demand” market. Buying in late fall/winter will be to your advantage. You can always put in an offer yoirncomfortabwl with and see where it takes you. It’s so so much easier when you are buying without having to sell. I’d ask around for a great realtor and see what they say about your budget and your “must haves”. Definitely write down non negotiable things with your SO so you’re on the same page. When we bought our house last year, all we cared about was: in the budget, single family with 4+ beds, and in the right neighborhood. Our realtor thought we were crazy 😂

We are up to 2+ wakeups now and it sucks. Eek, I know some of you have been dealing with much worse than that though. He used to give us at least a 5-6 hour stretch at first, but now he’s waking up after 3 hours usually. He used to always nurse and go right back to sleep, but lately he’s been waking up again as soon as I lay him back down or like 15 min later and then crying inconsolably. It doesn’t help that he has a stuffy nose.
On a more positive note, we had the best time playing yesterday. I just laid on the floor and he tried to crawl on me and put his face right in my face. Lots of smiling and squealing and “dadadada”. It was the first time he really “led” as opposed to me directing the play and entertaining him.

I feel like a broken record. This baby does not sleep unless she is being held! I'm gonna lose it. I've been nursing her to sleep and as soon as I try to transfer her she wakes up. I've tried laying her down amd patting her bum and shushing, putting the paci in her mouth, just walking away and she just rubs her eyes and is suddenly wide awake again.

Re: house hunting. We are renters and will be for another year or so at least. We are about 1.5 hours from Toronto and it is absurdly expensive and in high demand. Brand new single family homes are more than we could ever afford. I have all my fingers crossed that we will have some options when we can finally scrape together a down payment.

Maybe you body is gearing up towards cycling (if you’re not already) and you’re experiencing the same? Great job on the supply- even when we think we have it figured out it’s still nice to get reassurance😊

Sorry for all the sleep woes. Get it together babies! Mine included!
I am currently laying on my bed while the baby fights a nap in the crib in his room. He won’t go to sleep normally for naps if I put him down awake but I guess I gotta keep trying? Or maybe not? Idk
He’s found his thumb and is beginning to suck it to self soothe so I’m hoping maybe the stars will align and he’ll figure it out. A girl can dream lol.

Just wait til tonight.” I spent all day today watching for tired signs to get 4 naps (I was able to thankfully) but tomorrow I have to go to the OB to have my IUD checked which is probably going to mess his sleep up again. I will probably just use the carrier to get him to sleep.

We are currently trying to work on weaning off a night feed. He’s waking up way too early at night and only wants to nurse. Like he goes longer during the day than his first stretch.
It’s not fun. This is not fun

So here’s our usual night schedule: nurse when we get home at 6:30, nurse before bed around 8. Like I said upthread, he used to wake up once around 2-4, then sleep til 6 or 7. Lately, he’s been waking around 10 or 11, then again around 3 or 4. He’ll nurse at each wake up and seems actually hungry, so I’ve been nursing at the extra wake up instead of having H try to get him back down. Last night when nursing before bed, he took both sides (which isn’t typical), seemed to be more comfort nursing/not really swallowing much, and didn’t seem as settled as he usually is after nursing. So I had H try to give him a bottle and he chugged 3 oz in no time. I was hopeful that we’d get a longer first stretch but he woke again at 10:30 and 3:45 and nursed both times. Either way, he must need more at bedtime than I can offer with just nursing right? Or maybe it’s a growth spurt? One day last week, I noticed the same behavior after nursing at 6:30, so I offered a bottle and he took 2.5 oz, then nursed again before bed. We were thinking about starting some sleep training and letting him CIO with wake ups in the first 5 hours, but if he’s actually hungry and nursing then, I don’t want to ignore that. I’m consistently pumping a little less per day over the past month, but still more than enough for daycare bottles, so I wouldn’t think my supply has decreased too much. We have started solids, but he’s not too keen on spoon feeding with purée. He likes to feed himself BLW style, but he doesn’t get in a ton of volume that way, so I doubt that’s having an effect on nursing. Whew. That was a novel. Any suggestions?

I was not ready for it to go from 100 degrees last week to 60s this week. It's insane.
Ellie has started to kind of crawl backwards. It's so funny. She looks so confused whenever she runs into a wall/couch.
And her first tooth broke through! She's basically a teenager at this point.

clementine, we are going through the same thing right now. B used to do a 8-10hr stretch before waking up and the last few weeks he’s been waking up like every 2-3hrs and eating. I just re-read Precious Little sleep on feeding/sleeping and night weaning. B is falling asleep on his own too and we’ve taken away the soother so he doesn’t have a suck/sleep association anymore. Essentially what we did was a) fed him more during the day to make sure his calories are during the day because he was taking a lot in at night b) agree that before midnight he did not have to eat and c) then I will not feed him more than every 3 hours at night. And she said, once you’ve made a decision for that time period, stick to it because it’s more harmful to change your mind. Then he cries and cries and cries - and then gets what he wants, it’ll be worse next time. Anyways. It was a rough go at 10pm (but I knew it was habit eating) but he eventually went back to sleep woke up at 3 and is actually still sleeping. I guess I’m saying once again I found the Precious Little Sleep book to be a life saver. We were both veering into chronic sleep deprivation territory and that terrifys me

clementine it might be calories rather than amount with solids. Like a piece of pumpkin is not many calories but takes up X room in the tummy but the same quantity of breastmilk would be like 10 times the calories for the same tummy space? Are you doing solids after a milk feed?

That was TLDR. Sorry. I just got excited because this is exactly what we’re going through too and it’s so hard.
My other plan eventually will be to decrease his feeds at night gradually in time because I know he’s hungry then.

Oh. We might be sleep training tonight. DH will be home the next several nights and we only have one evening social plans in the next couple weeks. I've been consistent with bedtime being at 7 for the last weeks except Sat and Sun we were gone so they are messed up. We can still start now right??? I need to go re-read the PLS posts on sleep training.
