DD needs a convertible seat. She currently has the Key Fit 30 and I'm thinking I should just get the Nextfit but I have no idea. She'll be RF and I'd love to still be able to function in my car normally, meaning the less space it takes up the better. Safe and easy to install is what I'm looking for.

I adore the clicktight install from Britax. Not the most compact seat, but cozy and will last a long time for height/weight. What kind of car do you drive?

Britax ClickTights are the easiest ever to install. We have the boulevard and there are probably smaller seats, but it won for me just because of how easy it is to move around.

The back is pretty small to me and my trunk is currently filled with stroller, etc. Do these things go in the middle too? She's in the middle now. Can I anchor them like I do her bucket seat? Are they about the same width.

+whatever to the Britax clicktights. We have a Pavilion that's just a LATCH install and a Boulevard with the clicktight install and it's amazing. Couldn't be easier.

I love our Chicco Nextfit! It's easy to install. It is kind of heavy, but it's not a big deal to switch between cars, etc.
We install ours behind the passenger seat because the driver's seat is too far back and the seat would touch. We use LATCH.

I really like our Graco Extend2fit. MH has a small car and it fits well in there. Installation is pretty easy as well. I like this one too

You can install in the middle if your car and whatever car seat you choose allows it.
I believe the Gracos are some of the most compact on the market.
I would check car seats for the littles though on Facebook and they can tell you exactly what seat will fit.

I have the Graco 4ever. It fits pretty well in my tiny car (Ford fiesta). I also have an evenflo something and it isn't as small as the graco.

What's the difference between the Marathon and Boulevard. If I remember correctly it's the amount of side impact protection which is probably less important if you're installing in the middle.

We have two Nextfits and I really like them.
The biggest pro for me is that the cover is machine washable if/when you need to wash puke out of a car seat.

We had to install the NextFit on the side in H's car because it wouldn't fit rear facing in the middle.
If you have to do that, I chose to put the seat on the passenger side because you'd load/unload from the curb instead of the street. And also it's easier to see the kid/seat in your rear view mirror.

Chicco Nextfit Zip air. Cover zips off and is machine washable. That sold me.
My mom had the Britax Marathon Clicktight and it really is super easy to install. The Chicco is easy, but not as easy as the Btitax.
I've never put a carseat in the middle so I think that's really up to you, your car and carseat manual. My SUV it was recommended to use a side seat.

What's the difference between the Marathon and Boulevard. The boulevard has more side impact protection and taller rear facing limits. The beauty of the clicktight is it's a belt install, and super easy. I bet it's fit in a smaller car like yours, but if you go to a buy buy baby they'll let you test it in your car (for fit, not with the kid in it).

I highly recommend going to babies r us or buy buy baby and trying them in the car. They usually let you. We had a Mazda 3 with a really small backseat and we got the Nextfit, which is quite compact. We still had to move the seat forward quite a bit and the passenger wasn't comfortable. Once we were forward facing it was fine.

I really prefer to use my anchors because it's easier. I can never get the seatbelt right enough. Maybe this isn't a problem with the convertible?

Boulevard Clicktight is the business. This. Regarding where to put it, the CPST I worked with assured me that it didn't really matter, safety-wise, which side it was on. I've always had him on my passenger side so that it was next to a sidewalk getting in and out, as someone mentioned.

We have a Diono Radian and I love it. It's really heavy though so it might be hard to install. Did you guys know that Chicco is pronounced kee-ko? This is something I learned recently, lol. No the fuck way

We have the Nextfit Zip. We love it. The cover is easy to remove and can be thrown in the wash. Changing the incline so it's level is a breeze. The LATCH system makes for easy install. I have a midsize SUV so I can't really speak to size, but we will be getting another when the baby is ready to switch to a convertible.

If you are using LATCH in the center seat please check the car manual that this is specifically allowed. Many cars don't allow latch borrowing from the side seats.

We also love our Diono and angle adjuster. I can push the passenger seat of my Honda Fit all the way back with it RFing.
@giantpeach, does your DD tend tall or heavy at all? Some seats are better for tall vs heavy kids. If she's average or small, it probably doesn't matter.
