We have a Diono Radian and I love it. It's really heavy though so it might be hard to install. Did you guys know that Chicco is pronounced kee-ko? This is something I learned recently, lol. No the fuck way Yeah this is blowing my mind right now

A note about the LATCH thing since it is confusing AF, and I just learned about all this while going through the process of researching new cars.
So most cars don't have LATCH in the backseat middle. Some do, but most don't (there is a list on CSFTL website somewhere). If your car doesn't have backseat middle LATCH, you can install with the seat belt instead (which is where a seat like the ClickTights would be really handy since they make it so easy).
If your car seat AND the car itself allow "borrowing" the LATCH anchors from the side seats (yes, you have to check both manuals - car seat and car - to see if it's allowed) then you can do that instead of the seat belt. I recently found this out - but for months I was borrowing the LATCH anchors for a middle install for our KeyFit and I didn't realize that Chicco doesn't allow that at all.

+1,000 to the marathon clicktight. MH has a BMW 330 and we have it rear facing behind the passenger seat and I can sit in front pretty comfortably (I'm 5'10"). This. Marathon clicktight ftw. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: car seat safety. Many probably know this, but on FB there's a group called "Car seats for the littles" and you can ask the techs questions on there. They're really intelligent (trained). I've learned a LOT

I have 3 of the car seats you're considering: Britax marathon clicktight, chicco nextfit and graco extend2fit. My favorite of all is the Britax: super easy install, comfortable for my kids, easy in and out, and easy to tighten. The nextfit has really high sides and I have hit my daughter's head on the door frame more than a couple of times getting her in and out of my CRV, it is now installed in my DH's large SUV. The cinch tight latch thing is pretty slick though for install. The extend2fit I haven't had for very long, but it seems to be ok. It's in my DH's vehicle also, and it's supposed to be one of the most compact front to back carseats, so it would be great for a small car.
I pronounce chicco and Britax the correct way also.

Also, you can only use latch install for so long, then you have to switch to seatbelt install once they hit the weight limit.

Britax ClickTight or Diono get my votes. CT for easy install, and britax overall, great brand super safe. Diono takes up less space and I love how easy it is to get the bigger kid in and out of it.

I have a Britax Marathon Clicktight and a Boulevard Clicktight. The only real difference is the boulevard makes an audible click noise when the harness is pulled tight enough. Super easy, tight installs. Both are heavy and bulky. IMO the biggest con is the material is not machine washable. Otherwise I love them. I felt like the Chicco nextfit really sells their LATCH system. Check the weight limits on this as it wasn't as much as I thought it'd be. Also, when forward facing I don't think you can use latch at all -- if I'm remembering correctly. If you're a kohls shopper, look on their website for whichever seat you decide with. Coupons don't apply, but you can get kohls cash for purchasing car seats ETA: I drive a Chevy Malibu.

I really like our Graco Extend2fit. MH has a small car and it fits well in there. Installation is pretty easy as well. I like this one too I'll second this. I rf my 20 momth old it. I only have the extend part put 1 click and his legs are just now needing to bend. I'm about to click irmt out one more.

I really prefer to use my anchors because it's easier. I can never get the seatbelt right enough. Maybe this isn't a problem with the convertible? You'll eventually have to use the belt because latch only goes to like 40lbs. But if i remember right, your baby is tiny. My oldest is 3.5. We just turned him and still use latch. He's only 32 pounds. Whether you can use latch in the middle depends on the seat and your car. Most middles dont have latch so you borrow from the outboard seats. Only some allow that.

I know no IRL humans that pronounce it kee-ko. I feel like that is pronouncing gif as "jiff" It's Italian so "chi" is always pronounced "key" unless the word comes from another language like brioche and then you get a soft French "sh" sound. Same thing with bruschetta...the Italians pronounce it "bru-sketta" with the hard c sound. 🤓

Chicco is Italian? Never knew that. When there's an h after a c in Italian (or a g) it changes the sound. So bruschetta is brew skeh ta with a hard c. It is how I know if an Italian restaurant will be good or not - how they pronounce bruschetta. Oops! I just posted the same thing.

I also recommend the Diono Radian with angle adjuster. It fits almost anywhere and it is easy for kids to get in and out of due to the low sides. I know some people think it is difficult to install but I've never had a problem.

I'm going to go with the Britax Marathon if i like the way it fits. If not, I'm not sure. Lol. Probably the Chicco Nextfit. I'm headed there after my hair appointment. I'll keep y'all posted.

I adore the clicktight install from Britax. Not the most compact seat, but cozy and will last a long time for height/weight. What kind of car do you drive? Ding ding ding. This is what we have and it's so comfy and sturdy. The clicktight is super easy to use too.

The key with a belt install is to pull the belt all the way out until you get the locking mechanism to kick in. Then when you feed the belt back into the holster, it won't release and get too loose. Kneel on the seat to get it extra tight and just work the slack out little by little.

I really like our Graco Extend2fit. MH has a small car and it fits well in there. Installation is pretty easy as well. This. I have found it to be very compact and it easily fit in MH truck without adjusting the seats. You can use latch if you have them in the middle. We anchored in one car but the other didn't have middle anchors.
