grumpycat, we still use the glider in my son's room for reading books and singing songs before bed. And I spent a lot of nights sleeping sitting up with him when he had ear infections I'm debating if we should buy a second one for the new baby's room (it's tiny so there's not a lot of room). Are you or your H tall? The one we bought has a relatively short back and my H complained about not having neck support in it. I'm shocked that amazon has free returns on something so large, but that's a good thing! Definitely something you want to sit in before deciding on.

Does anyone have a motorola baby monitor? If so do you use the app? How has it held up? My H likes the idea of having the app to check in with (and I do too) but I see a lot of bad reviews on amazon.

DH is 5'11" and everyone else is shorter than him lol. A couple of the reviews said that taller people still found it comfortable. Realistically I will be the one using it at night since DH will be going to work in the AM while I'm on mat leave. I love Amazon!

Reclining glider was one of our best purchases, absolutely hands down. I love rocking baby, plus it's nice to have somewhere to sit and read, pump, whatever. I've also slept in it on many of occasions, both all night long and for naps. Glider fo lyf, yo.

grumpycat, I would definitely get a glider! I didn't really use mine that much for the first 5 months with my DD since we kept her in our room, but I used it a lot once we moved her to her own room. After we moved her to her own room I was still getting up in the motn to nurse so it was amazing. My DD will be 2 in August and I still use it for her when she is having a rough nap, and to just get some cuddles in after her nap when she is waking up. I need to move it to the new nursery eventually and I am having feels about taking the glider away from her

grumpycat Go for it! We went with a La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner because we will move it downstairs when we are done anyway but I highly recommend it. We still use it every night for story time before bed and DD is almost 2.5

We had a motorola video monitor and I loved it but after about a year the charging port on the monitor broke so we had to get rid of it. However, I have girlfriends who have had theirs for multiple years. Note that we didn't have the one with the app for the phone.

I love our glider/rocker. However, I almost never used it when DS was a baby. We slept in the living room for the first 8 weeks and I nursed him on the couch and then after that, he STTN. However, now that he is almost 20 months, he loves using it for reading books and rocking himself. Sometimes we snuggle in it. I wouldn't change getting it but it definitely didn't get as much use as I thought it would. ETA: THIS is the one we have

We have a Motorola monitor and the charge has been garbage since day one. No matter to us, we just leave it plugged in but it would suck if we wanted to go outside. The camera and monitor are great so the charging thing makes me sad. Ours doesn't have the app. We are thinking about getting a new one with two cameras when DS2 comes. Probably not a Motorola though since the charging thing seems to be a very common issue.

Ours had touch screen buttons and they would often times just not work. It was complete crap. We went out and bought a cheap Summer Infant and are much happier.

I have a Motorola monitor but no app. It's still working great after almost 2 years.
I was hesitant to buy one that's wifi capable cause I heard creepers were able to go in and see and talk through them. Even if that's not true, still grosses me out.

You guys are making me want a glider. We had an old recliner that DH had as a kid in DSs room but we recently had to throw it away because it was falling apart.

After 19m of heavy use our glider is still in perfect condition. If it survives another one or two kids then it will get moved down to our living room, or hopefully by then our finished basement rec room. It's basically an oversized lazy boy that we just happened to buy from BBB.
Word to the wise, put a slip cover over it. We found a lot of the gliders had very specific cleaning directions, which, with a baby, is ridiculous. We got a slip cover that is in four different pieces so we can just pull off whatever part got yucked up and wash it. It's been great.

DH wants to actually go to furniture stores to test out gliders. I made sure he was aware that we would definitely be spending more money that way. He did not seem phased. We honestly are not planning on buying much for this kid, so I guess he's willing to be a bit spendy on this. *shrugs* I'm just happy he is on board with getting a glider.

We've got through like 3 monitors in the last few years. We now have a drop cam and just use the app and like the $10 cheap as it gets noise only one that we turn on when she's sick.

We used the dropcam w/DS and will use it again for this kiddo with the app on our phones. As long as your internet is password protected, you really should be fine in terms of people hacking into the feed.

I'm very aware this winter baby will be in sleepers/playsuits most of the time so I've started to grab some when I see them on clearance. How many should I plan to have on hand?

When we brought him home from the hospital I only had 3 NB size ones because I didn't know how big he would be, and we had to run out and buy more the next day because my H was doing loads of laundry of just baby clothes so he would have something clean to wear. SO definitely more than 3, lol.

Alright so we have not bought one single thing for this baby so far. I feel like we don't need anything at all since we're having another boy and all of our baby gear is still within the expiration dates. Am I missing something? They will be opposite seasons since DS was born in May but I feel like we'll be able to get by since we'll be spending most of the time indoors anyway. And i feel like we should just wait to see what we need rather than preemptively buying a bunch of crap that we won't use- like I kind of think it would be nice to have one of those car seat covers? But can't we just put a hat on the baby and cover it in a blanket? I feel like I'm missing something and have FOMO because I want to go shopping for the baby but at the same time, I legitimately feel like we don't need anything.

pootsen, the registry I made last night is pretty slim. We just need a new swing and diaper genie as far bigger items go. I'm nervous to buy too many clothes right now because I don't know if this kid will be early and tiny like my other two, or be the giant they both could have been. I'm also sort of a minimalist as far as baby stuff goes.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk DS went through two outfits a day or so (between BM, poop, spit up, etc). So I'd get 14 to be safe unless you want to do laundry more frequently. I did not want to lol. I end up running out to get more NB sleepers. DS spent his first two months in sleepers. Check out consignment shops in your area too.

pootsen I feel the same way. I want to buy stuff but I don't really need to except for a new baby monitor and to be honest, I hate doing the research so I'll wait LOL My girlfriends that I saw a couple of weekends ago actually have all the stuff that I thought I might need (like a new swing) because I donated it to a family in need.

We've bought name letters for over the crib so far and that's it. We have all DD stuff and it's all the correct season, so I'm not even sure what to buy when I want to.

pootsen We bought nothing for this baby either. We're likely going to remain team green. If it's a girl she'll get a new coming home outfit. If it's a boy we're screwed and will have to get all new clothes since DSs handmedowns won't be the right season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We have just a regular non video monitor. I love it and we will probably just get a second one for the baby. I forget which brand.
