While I'm happy to have had all my days off from work fall during this time, I'm so bored. I go back Sunday and I'm ready. The days pass too slowly when I'm not working. Like I'm stillll in week 4. 😴 For one more day. This is how I feel, but I'm a SAHM. I found out so early, so it feels like I've known FOREVER and I'm not even 9 weeks.

How is everyone doing this week? Tired! My H is out of town and my kids are crazy. I just want to sleep for a day or 3. Haha... otherwise, good. What is your favorite christmas tradition and/or winter activites? Every year I post a Christmas photo of my girls every day in December, kind of like a photo version of an advent calendar. We have so much fun with it. I also love our trip to the tree farm! What is your favorite thing about being pregnant? The kicks, the anticipation, and the fabulous hair. Haha. What do you have the hardest time with while pregnant? Sciatic pain, morning sickness, and lack of energy.

Well it is 9am and I want beefaroni now. I don't think I've ever had it but I need it. Its my favorite of all the chef boyardi foods. Nothing fancy, but man is it good. I alreadybtold mh last night I needed him to stop at the store today and get more. 😂

One more random thought from me: my hair has been looking greasy a day after I shower. So I'm half convinced I'm having a girl just because of my hair. With DD I had the same problem. With ds my hair was better than ever.
Tl;dr I feel like I'm having a girl because my hair is greasier.

My hair is super greasy too! I know my hair was fabulous in the 2nd trimester but I don’t remember anything specific in first trimester. goldenbird sorry about your throat. I know you can take Zantac but I don’t know the difference between than and Prilosec. I hope your ENT can help.

I'm a bit on edge today. I have a follow up with my ENT doctor. At the beginning of October I went in for weird throat stuff/voice hoarseness. He said it looked like silent reflux and put me on Prilosec for 60 days and said come back if that doesn't help. I finished the meds a couple weeks ago and they didn't seem to do anything and I developed a throat wheeze over the last month, so it seems actually worse. I'm nervous about moving forward because I know I can't do more Prilosec because of the pregnancy. I'm not even sure if its safe to have an upper endoscopy done, which something he mentioned doing if the meds didn't work. I know we will figure out a plan but I'm just worried. 😔 You are right that the endoscopy is probably off the table. I have been having esophageal issues (started before conception) and my gastro has said they have to wait until after I deliver to perform the procedure. I've read online that they can do it without sedation if it becomes very necessary. Prilosec and other PPI's are generally considered safe for pregnancy but some studies have suggested they should be stopped until the second trimester. After discussing with my doctor I take zantac daily (I too have what they think is silent reflux). I've actually gotten more relief from my secondary symptoms from zantac than I did from prilosec so it might be worth a shot asking your doctor about it. ETA: Zantac is not a PPI (I didn't know that originally) and you can find lots of info about Zantac safety during pregnancy.

ETA: Zantac is not a PPI (I didn't know that originally) and you can find lots of info about Zantac safety during pregnancy. Yeah, I'm really not wanting to do it without sedation. I don't think I could keep still/keep from swallowing or gagging for that long, even with the numbing spray. I found it odd that the Prilosec seemed to do nothing. I'll ask about taking Zantac because I'm sure I'll need something. There's some concern that I may have an autoimmune disease like Sjogren's as I also have dry mouth and eyes. I'm not sure how much throat issues play into that, but I'm sure he's going to want to start investigating that. Over the summer I went through a big to do and was almost diagnosed with MS but ended up not meeting the diagnostic criteria. So it's likely I have some sort of AI issue going on.

I know we will figure out a plan but I'm just worried. 😔 DH went through the same thing recently... basically the PPIs only solve part of the silent reflux problem. although they cut down on the acid, the actual digestive enzymes still irritate your throat and cause symptoms. so DH didn't get much relief from the 60 days of PPIs. he had the endoscopy and the ENT said the irritation looked better, but he was still having symptoms. one thing that i read about online that did help DH and that is pregnancy safe is gaviscon advance- it's only sold in europe (the one in the US is different). it contains sodium alginate, which forms a foamy coating over the top of your stomach contents, preventing reflux. you can get it on amazon. here's an article that discusses it further. are you doing all the lifestyle remedies? i think that those help more than the medication. i've been having reflux on and off since DS2 was born, but i'm reluctant to start on PPIs, so for now i'm doing tums or gaviscon.

I'll have to look into that med. Honestly the only thing I've tried to be mindful of is how close to bedtime aka lying down that I'm eating dinner. I've cut out alcohol as of last Friday when I got a positive test, but I probably should have cut it out when I started the Prilosec.

And tomatoes/sauce. I don't know if I can cut out coffee, but I only have 1 cup a day. Yikes.

Probably not relevant but Zantac has been saving my sanity this pregnancy

I ordered that gaviscon advance as well as the book on acid reflux diets that is talked about in the article. I'm angry at myself for not doing any of this earlier and making changes along with taking the Prilosec.

I’m going to find out as well, I think the NIPT will be first week of January so we should see how the theory pans out by mid January for me.

The theory holds true for me this time. My hair was greasier than normal and I'm having a girl. It seems to be getting better now at ~11 weeks. I don't have any recollection of this from my first 2 pregnancies but I may have blocked it out.

I had my appointment and as suspected, things in my throat/vocal cords are still red and inflamed. Thanks worthless prilosec! And since I'm pregnant, he agreed changes to diet and amount/timing of eating plus Zantac if I need it are the only things I can do. I will follow up again after baby is born and get an endoscopy done if the inflammation is still there. I'm hopeful that lifestyle changes plus that gaviscon advance will help though, enough to prevent further damage that would be done if I changed nothing.

Thank you! My due date got moved back to Aug 3, which I knew was probable, but I will still have a July birthday on my hands because there are TWO babies in there and they both look great! I’ll likely have a c section the third week of July. I think MH may take until July to recover from the news.
