H had a high fever once (I think it was like 104) and I was able to bring it down with Motrin and a bath. I called the next morning to the after hours nurse since it was the weekend and she yelled at me for not taking her in to the ER immediately. So now if either of them get a high fever I call. Last night I didn’t even call, I just took her in. Dude only had one this high, and we took him to CHOC immediately. They said that was the right thing to do but always go ahead and administer BOTH Motrin and Tylenol at the same time right away before heading to the hospital to start bringing it down. The fever can climb quickly otherwise and there is a risk of febrile seizures. I did give her Motrin right away. Then they gave us Tylenol after we got there. The thing that’s annoying is that they use temporal thermometers. My temp that I gave them was rectal, the nurse got like 100.4 after we got there with the temporal. So wrong. Later when he took her temp again with that thermometer it read 98.8 I made him do a rectal temp and it was 103.1. Why in the world would they have not done that from the beginning?! I feel like the sense of urgency would have been different. Nobody actually touched her, the doctor just listened to her with the stethoscope and looked in her ears and mouth. No skin checks for rash or anything. Idk, I’m annoyed about it obviously. /rant over

guster it bothers me too. And delish. My mom uses it constantly. Drives me nuts. And the saying "to die for" grates on my nerves.

We use naughty at our house. It was so cute hearing H say it when she was littler. I don’t say it a lot, more so to describe actions than the person. For example: “pulling the ornaments off the tree is naughty, please don’t do that anymore”.

Glad you're okay, flamingo . Happy to hear that as fever is down and that you're home, @trylcrzy. Back from preschool drop off, Charlie is napping, and I'm reading through my crazier Facebook moms groups. Such entertainment with my 2nd cup of coffee. UO stemming from the threads I'm reading there-- I don't like the word naughty. I only like the word naughty when Chris Farley says it.

Naughty isn't too offensive in my book. Words I don't like...let's see...I have a passionate dislike for "hubs" and "hubby". Barf. Also, anything Rachel Ray says is on my list, too.

My advent calendar this year is a Kinder one. I can't wait to give it to Evie Friday, she will be so excited. Courtesy of our awesome vino! I haven't heard why exactly, but the purchase of our company is now on hold and the people that were supposed to come tomorrow, have cancelled. Apparently something came up in the negotiation that they didn't like. So we are back in a holding pattern.

I'm giggling from the naughty talk and chris farley gif. I'm trying to hold in a laugh and it's making my eyes water. lol I use naughty a lot. Does that make me.. naughty? I also love Chris Farley and have always joked that H reminds me of Tommy Boy. He's kind of big and dopey. Shhh.. I didn't just say that about my baby!

Hi! I'm at work feeling stuffy. My throat is better, but now I think I have a sinus infection. Probably going to our hospital's employee clinic first thing in the morning tomorrow before work.
Speaking of illness, M2 had a double ear infection last week. This is his second- the first was only one ear. Our pedi said ear infections before six months is not normal and that he will likely need tubes. Anyone know what age do they start tubes? For some reason, I thought she meant we wouldn't wait long to get the referral, but after I thought about it, I'm not sure of the earliest he could get them.

Poor M2, sorry he's under the weather, and that you're feeling badly, too. :/ C had an EI as a newborn...like, within a month or two after she was born (we went in for something else and they caught it). With that said, the pedi didn't say anything about it being abnormal or the potential for tubes, but it was only her first and thus far the only one she's had. B did get tubes at around 17-18 months so they're on my radar for that reason, but he didn't suffer from lots of EIs ... so who knows.

Both my kids had several EIs before 6 months. Our doc says 3 in 6 months or 6 in 12 months get you a referral, they never mentioned age. N got hers Friday and the nurses said they do them on younger kids all the time.

Yaaaay! The piano mat arrived in time, it’s a brand new one from wallmart! I paid $50 more for than I would have if stupid wallmart would ship to Europe, but whatever, I can’t wait to see the kids faces when they see it!

Hi ladies! The magazine is done, so it’s finally quieting down at work. The fact that I didn’t have to run around like a mad men made me very inefficient weirdly enough. Ds woke up with his eyes shut again, poor thing. I need to finalise my Sinterklaas shopping/crafting, just not tonight. There’s a new day tomorrow right?

Omg. In the car wash and it just stopped. There are literally those big blue brushes in front of and over us. There are employees sprinting all over the place. This is up there with getting stuck in an elevator, minus the possibility of free-falling. This is one of my fears! Speaking of car washes, somehow my uncle got off the tracks when going into one and they had to shut down the whole car wash and get him towed out. Oops.

I’ve never heard anything about age being a factor in tubes. Always just the amount of times they’ve had EIs in a certain time period. I’m sorry he’s not feeling well, I hope he’s better soon.

I didn’t realize there was so much hate for hubs and hubby. I don’t really use either term so that must be why. I hate “epic.” Stop describing mundane things as being epic.

Aren't you always supposed to put the car in Neutral when you're in the wash? How would that even happen? Also terrifying, and super embarrassing if it was your fault for going off the tracks!

Not quite the same, but I can't stand the ds, dd, dh, ect. Like, of course your kid is dear to you. And do you have to specify your H is dear to you so people know your marriage isn't on the rocks or something? I just don't get it.

I hate it when people use the word ‘literally’ with things that are clearly not literally. Same thing for (air) quotes.
