I finally decided to decorate the tree that’s been up since Thursday. I was going to buy ribbon to make it look more full but I decided against it. Mostly because I’m lazy. I considered adding ribbon this year, but Im terrible at it. I do love how it looks. My mom was a wiz at it-- I never really took the time to learn. I bet YouTube could give me some pointers. I'm the same. Ribbon looks so pretty, but it'd look terrible if I did it! I also don't know that I have the tree for it. Ours has colored lights and a hodgepodge of all our ornaments. It's not a classy or elegant tree by any means!

Yuck, tgrimes. I hope it's not an infection and just his tubes working to drain out crap. Does he have waxy ears to begin with? Zero knowledge about this stuff, but could that cause the goo?

I’d really like to see all the trees! Should we do a Christmas decoration thread?!

My mom always had our fun tree in the family room and her nicely decorated one in the living room! Love it.

peachsmama I bought the 7 day surge on sale today. I'll probably start next week. I'll let you know how it goes. I got behind on 5.0. But I'm staying on track now and I'll be done at the end of the year. Then I'm going to do a surge week and then 7.0 comes out. Are you doing the meal plan too? Make sure you take before and after pictures!

I didn't read this. But I had tubes twice as a kid and remember getting the drops a lot.

You can do it! As we all know I am basically an unpaid Dillard’s spokeswoman, but I always love their tree dept. so I searched their site and found this tutorial (may need to watch on a laptop, not sure if video shows up on mobile). I used to drape it but this year did a deco mesh/ribbon combo cascading down. (Also, I got my ribbon and deco mesh at Hobby Lobby for a fraction of what Dillard’s charges (my devotion only goes so far)). www.dillards.com/p/southern-living-homestead-holidays-collection-striped-ribbon/507262313?di=05082286_zi_red_cream&categoryId=672823&facetCache=pageSize%3D96%26beginIndex%3D0%26orderBy%3D1#

We were using the drops and she gave us oral antibiotics. Maybe we need better drops.

tgrimes since having tubes put in 2.5 years ago, there have been two occasions where B had ear drainage. Like you, I’ve always been told drainage=infection, it’s just the tubes allow the stuff to come out vs sitting in there and accumulating. No symptoms otherwise (fever, etc). Both times our pedi called in Ciprodex drops and that took care of it. Is that what y’all have been using?

The ear drops we have are Ofloxacin.

trtlcrzy So you’re saying there could be fluid coming out of his ear and it not be infected, right? Not trtlcrzy but that looks infected to me. What ABX was he taking? I'd probably ask if we could do Rocephin injections at this point. The fluid is coming out, so that's good, but somehow they need to get rid of the infection if that's what it is. Dude had a few infections that could not be managed with oral ABX and drops.

I left a message for the ENT but he's in surgery today.

I'm still new to tubes, but I thought that would maybe be normal? Rather than fluid sitting in the ear and getting infected, it can drain out. Does he have a new cold? At least it's not clogged if stuff is coming out! Hope he feels ok. He’s not snotty at all. He was when we started antibiotics 11 days ago but he hasn’t had a runny nose or cough since last Wednesday. When my MIL took him to the pedi,he didn’t have fluid coming out yet. She could see it through the tube. The next morning it started coming out and it continued for 4 days. Then it stopped. I was told anytime you see fluid coming out of the ear it means it’s infected. If that’s true, I’d assume the antibiotics didn’t get rid of it since our last dose was yesterday, right? What did the ENT say to you? Why does this have to be so complicated? We have our follow up tomorrow and I'll quiz him on what means what with drainage.

Just my best guess, but he has had so many infections at this point they may have become resistant to the ABX they have been using.

They may want to do the same thing and test for MRSA.
