I was listening to Morning Joe this morning (before we knew Flynn was being charged) and they were talking about Trump’s behavior this week. Someone was saying that it’s likely dealing with the Russia investigation and something very big is about happen.
1. I don’t think Flynn being charged is big enough to cause Trump’s actions this week
2. I think there is way more going on with this investigation
3. If we believe Trump’s actions were due to the investigation, I am so interested to see what else is about to come out

My suspicion is that Mueller held off on charging Flynn with anything until he felt confident he had squeezed enough info out of him. The odds are good he had him on all kinds of stuff and this particular charge is part of the deal.
Also, now we've moved past the campaign and we have someone who was in the Trump White House.
Someone who was on Trump's NSC.

Also, a lot of people who "switched over" for Trump did so because unlike the hardline Tea Party disruptors, who actually stopped the gears of government, the God-Emperor was such a man of the world and an amazing dealmaker omgggzzz on his golden toilet throne, and he was going to prevent bullshit deadlocks in Congress. Whoops. Eh. I think they're all over the deal-maker shit given he hasn't been able to push through a single piece of major legislation despite having control of both houses of Congresses. By and large they're fine with it as long as "Merry Christmas" is back in the WH and brown people are still being treated like second class citizens. But if taking an inhumanely hard line on immigration gets in the way of their paychecks? They might actually start to rile up. Although, who am I kidding. They'll just blame Congress and defend Trump's cottage cheese ass until he's out of office. Oh exactly - in case my point wasn't clear, I was agreeing that a lot of Trump voters won't like a government shutdown, either because they are military/gov't employees OR because they voted him in to get shit done and change things, not pull the same "government shutdown" crap that we've been seeing over the last decade. I'm sure a bunch will defend/deflect/blame Congress, but maybe SOME of them are starting to get sick of his failures. If the tax bill crashes or the government shuts down, we might see a real sea change. A girl can dream. |

Can I brag a little about myself here? I've had a good 24 hours and wanted to share. 1) I got a new job and told my boss yesterday I'll be out of here in January. I feel so free. Plus, it's a big step up in my career, w/ my old boss's title, and a big pay bump. 2) I finished NaNoWriMo last night!! That is all. Back to nuclear war and tax reform horrors. Hooray! Congrats! But what's NaNiWriWhateverYouSaid? |

Does this affect his retirement/rank as retired?
Also they are talking on CNN about Flynn Jr.
What did Jr. know and its probably pretty apparent that what Mueller got out of Sr. 'helps or protects' Jr, right?

It's a big friday! I think Rex will be out by 6pm. I have very mixed feelings about him leaving. He's a terrible SOS but he's made such a mess of the state department and I think new leadership will just make everything worse. Also worried that the new SOS will follow Trump's every beck and call in a way Tillerson didn't.
