Ill probably head to the pedi tmrw but want to ask any of you that have experience with HFM... H’s symptoms seem to match HFM, he had a fever Thursday and woke up Saturday with spots around his mouth. I saw last night his throat was red and looked pretty painful. Some of the spots were gone this morning, but there was 1 new one by his mouth. So far nothing on his hands or feet. He does have a very very light rash on his legs and arms but I think that might be from the amoxicillin he’s on. His canines are also FINALLY poking thru so he’s just a mess all around. Does it seem like HFM or do you have any other thoughts?

FWP: my nose is runny so I keep blowing it, and we only have crappy tissues at work. real problem, IMO. Cheap and/or rough tissues are the worst when you have a cold. My coworker texted me that we have better tissues, but I couldn’t find them where they normally are. I dug around and they fell back behind the cabinet. So now I have good tissues, but my nose is already raw

slenle I would say it is HFM but we haven't had it yet so I'm not 100% certain. Poor H!

slenle ouch. Sounds like HFM to me. There can be so many varieties that fever + spots in one location are probably it. Unless he's super miserable, I wouldn't go to ped unless they want you to come in since it just needs to run its course.

slenle his facial rash looks like when C has impetigo www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/tc/impetigo-overviewHe got that a couple times when he had strep. I would call the Dr tomorrow if he's already on amoxi it may be worth trying a stronger antibiotic. It could be the arm rash is from the antibiotics and the facial rash is different. Could be HFM. C had it once as a toddler but only had a few small spots and had bronchiolitis at the same time so we were mostly focused on that.

slenle poor kid. I always go with what would make me comfortable as a mom. I go to the pedi for peace of mind all the time when ruling out EIs. They would tell you how you need to proceed with him and your daily life. Same goes for you chrisy01. The worst thing is she tells you there is nothing she can give you and you are only out your time. I hope you are well enough for tomorrow.

I kinda always took it as nausea is just something we have to suffer through as long as we aren't getting dehydrated from throwing up. I mean it never hurts to ask if there is something you can do, but I think it just is what it is.

Mine was raw and had a scratch from wiping and was fine by morning with that.

slenle Sorry he's sick Looks and sounds like HFM to me. I've read that it's really making the rounds this year. Have you heard of cases at their school, etc? When B had it, the pedi didn't need to see him, although I did end up having to take him in once it cleared up to get a note that he could return to preschool. It was a mild case, thankfully. I don't really rush to the pedi for everything--typically my kids' illnesses are pretty typical and run their course naturally--so if it were me I would probably just keep him home unless it gets really bad or other symptoms start cropping up. There's not a whole lot they can do for it. Hope he feels better soon!

chrisy01 I would probably go in another week or two. My MS has never been quite as bad as yours, but I've always had it and it seems like right at 13 weeks, BAM, I feel better. So I'd probably get to the beginning of second tri and see if you're doing any better, and if not then ask if there's anything else they can do.

joelies we had somewhat similar dinnertime disasters. My kid is possessed, that's my only explanation for it. This morning he threw a ball at the TV. While watching Daniel Tiger and for no apparent reason...

Thanks ladies. The spots look a little better today. I have a message in to the pedi and we’ll see if she wants to see him or not. I was planning on working from home but my boss told me to just take the day off.. so we’ll just hang out and cyber Monday shop I guess
