I’m so annoyed. I put my tree up last night that i bought after Christmas last year. And this morning O asked to turn the lights on and one of the sets is already out on the tree. It’s one of those pre-lit trees so the lights can’t come off. I guess i need to stand there and test every bulb?!

I also hung half my lights without plugging them in and making sure they worked. I've had them forever, they're going to die eventually.

It’s one of those pre-lit trees so the lights can’t come off. I guess i need to stand there and test every bulb?! This happened to me a few years ago. I set out to find the perfect pre-lit tree for half the price the week after Xmas while I was visiting family in STL. I went EVERYWHERE, but they were pretty picked over. Finally found one I loved at Target! Brought it home (3 hours away from purchase location). I set it up just to check the lights and one section did not work. I was going to take it back the next week when I would be traveling there again for an appointment for S. But MH insisted it was probably just a loose bulb and told me to put it away and when we got it out the next Xmas we would tighten the bulbs and it would work. I was very reluctant but did it. The next Xmas, set it up, then just checked the bulbs, tightening them, and within 5 min I found the culprit and my tree was beautifully lit! So I hope you have the same outcome!!

Morning. Colin woke up dry for the 3rd morning in a row and is playing in his room. Chase is still passed out and I just hung the lights so Colin can put up a few ornaments later when Chase goes down for his nap.
I'm feeling really frustrated with DH right now. He has always been hard on Colin, just expecting way too much out of him. Colin did so well with listening and taking direction at skating yesterday and DH's response was to tell him that he should always listen. Just tell the kid you're proud of him, that's all he wants! Then he didn't want the veggie burger in his dinner last night, and DH wouldn't let it go. Col wasn't asking for anything else, but DH just kept badgering him about him being a baby and how maybe he should move in with his cousin (she's a notoriously picky eater) until I told him to stop. He's learned and is so much better with Chase, which I'm glad about. But he's never gotten better with Colin.
He knows I'm pissed so that's been fun. Happy holidays...

joelies What YH said about the good behavior is totally something i could see MH saying. MH expects way too much from O. 100% compliance which is nuts.

And how come nobody warned me about an almost 2 year old pulling ornaments off the Christmas tree?! It’s only been up for less than a day so hopefully the novelty will wear off, but GD if she isn’t touching the tree every time i turn around. Both kids are practically sitting under the tree because they can’t get close enough. I hope this tree doesn’t fall. I didn’t realize this was going to be stressful!

Chase keeps screaming at the tree. And that's when we keep him from dancing with the branches. Is the novelty going to wear off or are we screwed?

Has anyone ever ordered holiday cards from Staples? We always do Tiny Prints, but it's pricey. Staples has a Groupon.. Do you have a costco close? I was there the other day and they have some nice options for the holidays. I’d think they’d be cheaper than Staples, maybe? I’ve never done holiday cards (because I’m lazy) but my MIL gets them from Costco every year.

joelies MH and I have had the same fight. He was constantly on B when he got back from tour, especially about eating. We got in a huge fight because I stuck up for B every time. We didn’t talk for a few days actually, and finally he had to realize that that’s not how to go about things. He’s better now, thank goodness. Good luck, it’s frustrating for sure.

We have anchored ours to the wall before. I think the year C had just turned 2. I was too scared it'd fall on him since he basically would climb it.

My dad rented a mini excavator to put in a water line to the chicken coop. I don't think Jack has ever been so happy in his entire life.

Just waiting until it is appropriately late enough in the morning to let my kid outside to get his energy out. E is really sweet and gets sad thinking about his sister leaving today. I told him we could go shopping for a special xmas present from him to her. I think I want to venture out today anyways. Kind of want a train for the tree and a nativity set.

Sometimes we go out pretty soon after the kids get up and take the dog for a walk or play in the yard.

Re: Second children playing with the Christmas decorations -- Charlie pulled down an empty stocking that was attached to one of the stocking holders and broke it. It was from Pier 1 from awhile ago, and I can't find them anymore. Time to find a new place for the stockings.

Charlie would've barreled through that baby gate in 10 seconds flat. Nothing is safe with this child.

H was smart enough to pull it away from the wall to get back there. It was to protect the presents from being opened before Christmas and keep them from messing with the ornaments.

I may just leave them down til Christmas so they don't end up with a stocking holder to the head.

Got up this morning and cleaned out both cars and put in Cs new car seat. I'm so happy to get the NextFit out of Dhs car. It was such a pain for C to get in there. Now the Britax is in his car and I got a Graco Atlas for mine. C loves it.
We also hit up the playground but it was so windy so we didn't stay long. Now we are hoping to get C down for a nap. Might brave the mall later. I need a new winter coat.
