Wow. First time I've had to abandon a shopping cart and leave with a screaming child. And it wasn't the baby😠. He wouldn't walk with me or go in a cart and insisted on flopping on the floor. Dude isn't ready to skip naps apparently. N and I had to go back later to finish shopping. He had dinner and was sent straight to bed and screamed for the past hour. Oh and he lost puppy (prob at his conference, but may be a long weekend). I need a drink.

Hugs, tallb. We've had to abandon carts on account of Dude's bad behavior on numerous occasions. So far, four is basically apocalyptic. My child is a hell beast.

I must hate myself because I've been net-battling some moron about gun safety and the genius plan for the border wall off and on today.

Madison was more of my holy terror in public. I avoided places like Chuck E. Cheese for years because she threw such massive tantrums when it was time to leave. Cass is more internally miserable with pouting, whining, and refusing to walk. I have to sing praises though because lately they've both been pretty good and no major meltdowns to speak of...I feel like I'm finally rising above water in terms of shitty kid behavior.

kim22 Those fuckers never called me back. We have the first appt Monday morning and she’s eating & Keelung fluids down so my guess is they would have told me to wait until our appt. But still. They could have called.

I can't get into the elf out of a combination of laziness, the creepy factor, and I think Maddie is already past the point of buying into it. They would both love to find the elf, but I can see it being a point of whiny contention of Maddie always finding it first then Cass whining. I can't get my shit together enough to do anything more than get myself ready on workdays and they don't need anymore distractions when getting ready for school. Also, selfishly on my workdays I'd do the work and never get to see their excitement over it. If I did it, it would only be on weekends and I work the first 2 weekends of DEC so it's not happening.

I just wish I'd invented that damn elf so I could rake in all the dough.
Maybe I can create a market for a "Cupid gone Stupid" for Valentine's Day.

Oh and we had js conference. Based on this evening's behavior, I think the conference was about a different kid. Basically he's the best helper, super nice, and loves to learn and is awesome, just needs to get the accidents under control. We didn't discuss letters and that since still 2 years from k, but can't think of anything they are worried about.

Eventful evenings around here!
DH took the kids to the park and called me on his way home to ask what will take blood out of C’s coat. 😳 poor girl fell and split her lip and bled all over herself. Fortunately both baby and coat are ok.
We went out for hibachi tonight and both kids did well; just put them down and I think we’re going to start The Mindhunters on Netflix. I’m going to see if I can finagle DH into making some slice/bake Tollhouse cookies for me. #imsohelpless

tallb at least he's being a star student! It's funny how kids can be completely different in varied environments and for different people. Maddie and Cass are mostly angels in school--not necessarily the same story at home.

tallb my kid came home with an award for "always listening to the teachers." I may have asked if there was another kid with the same name in the class.

My mental list of what needs to get done while I'm in the hospital includes "making sure the Elf gets moved."

Financial question for you all.
MIL has a 529 for SD. We have contributed small amounts over the last few years but not enough to bother on our taxes. This year we will contribute more and want the tax deduction. If MIL set it up can we still claim it or do I need to start a new fund for SD?

Sunny41 - In CT we have CHET accounts, any CT resident can deduct for contributions to a CHET account. But my parents live in MA so they get nothing tax-wise for contributing.

We took the boys out for Mexican. The food took forever to come out but they kept busy coloring. I had to take them to the lobby while DH paid, but they did really well. We DID get some odd looks while they were howling at the stuffed coyote in the lobby. Whatever, it was cute.

Stick a fork in me, I’m done. I decided to take the girls to the zoo after S woke up from her nap. It was great, the animals were all really active and it was around 50 degrees. Towards the end the light was waning and it started to get cold. Then we came home, picked up DH and went to Chuck E. Cheese. Neither girl wanted anything to do with eating supper. They had fun though so whatever. After that we stopped for cupcakes. S went to bed right after we got home, and H stayed up till 9. I realized her head felt warm, she’s enough 101.4 temp. I’m hoping it’s just from shots because I really don’t want to cancel her party for tomorrow.

tgrimes I’m sorry H has another EI already. I have heard that they go away faster with the tubes in though so hopefully it doesn’t bother him for too long.

Must every day be ruined by that bitch called bedtime? I swear it turns my child into a lunatic and makes me want to pull my hair out. I'm going to talk to her pedi about melatonin at her well check on Monday.

I know you don’t want to rely on him, but M is a piece of cake she am puts her to bed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ETA My sister still gives melatonin to the middle two..

He would let her stay up until she falls asleep on the couch if I let him. Lately if he goes in her room she starts yelling that she doesnt like boys and he needs to get out. It is actually easier when he isn't here at all. He does storytime for 30 minutes before I go in and he just let's her play and be wild rather than reading to her and helping to wind her down. When he isn't here I can do it all in one and it's just more calm.

klong11 we give melatonin 4 times a week. It's the only way he won't play for hours after we put him to bed. It helps bedtime if I can hit the sweet spot and give it to him 20 mins prior to going up. Any closer and it hasn't kicked in and if I do it too early he gets overtired sillies as we call them. It has been a lifesaver for us but I feel super guilty giving it for some reason.
