Morning! We had a crappy weekend with the almost 4 year old. Is anyone else going through a terrible eating phase with their kid right now? He won’t eat lunch or dinner. He just started complaining about eating meat. “I don’t like it. It takes too long to chew.” And he just leaves it in his mouth. Then he says he likes hot dog meat but that’s it. 🙄 No meat here obviously but Dude has been a mostly terrible eager lately. The pedi shrugged it off and said it's pretty normal for all kids this age.

Someone talked to me once about looking at the overall nutrition for the week instead of per meal, and I try to keep that in mind when I worry about their diets.

Anyone else dealing with the driest skin and lips? The worst!! Yes, my lips are awful! I've been using Aquafor on them at night and that doesn't help. I hate trying new balms because they all have the same effect. I did get the humidifiers out at that seems to have helped a bit, but since I'm the only one who fills them, they don't run all the time.

My boss called all of us into his office to tell us how his trip to the new company went. I don't feel better, although I know he was trying to make us feel secure.

I have a head for the electric toothbrush that's just for my lips and I scuff off all of the dry skin and then put medicated Chapstick on, but it's still pretty bad this week

Morning! School days or ds, so I had a few quiet hours with dd, which was nice. Drop offs are going great, I’m relieved. Went to the zoo yesterday (birthday tradition) and bought year-passes. After 2.5 visits we break even, so it seemed worth it. Can’t wait to go more often, it’s an easy train ride and the kids love it!

I haven’t talked to the pediatrician yet so I wasn’t sure. I actually just looked it up recently because Cadence avoids meat whenever possible. The article I read said meat, especially red meat, is the hardest thing for kids. They want easy and the chewing of meat is too time consuming for them. It said to continue offering it, but don't make it the main part of a meal. Like, if you are using the divided plates, put it in one of the smaller spots, rather than filling up the largest part with it. It's too overwhelming and it will make them push the entire meal away. I found Cadence trying to hide chewed up meat in her dollhouse recently.

Klongoria11 interesting. That’s exactly what we are going through right now. Well, that sucks since most of our meals are meat-cooked in the instant pot, veggies and rice lol.

Jack hates meat. Matthew barely eats anything except pasta.
I made baked penne for everyone last night and no one even noticed or commented that I made it without meat. I think I may have my SIL half way to vegetarian. ( :

That isn't to say Evie wouldn't try to hide it also, but the dogs would happily eat what she doesn't!

Morning! I️ hope you start feeling better @peahsmama. You’re a better employee than I️ would be, I️ would go home if I️ knew I️ was on my way out anyway. tgrimes how’s the puke situation today? So the funeral was really sad, but it was so good to see so many old friends and we all agreed we need to try to put together a yearly college reunion or something because seeing each other at funerals fucking sucks. My friends wife (who is also a college friend) gave the most beautiful eulogy. I’m amazed by her strength and composure, I️ don’t know if I could do that. Anyway, the funeral gave me the kick in the ass I️ needed to make myself a skin check. It’s been four years and I️Ve been putting it off because it scares me. Let’s see, what else? Lucas stayed home sick today. He seems 100% fine, but he’s running a fever and I️ didn’t want to risk sending him and having him sent home and having to keep him tomorrow because of the 24 hour rule. So I’m drinking a Starbucks and watching KUWK, and telling myself I should do a Tracy Anderson dvd or a BBM.

The dollhouse has a "working" toilet (it makes the flushing sound) and she was trying to put it in there, I'm assuming to flush away.

xolastunicornxo So far no puke from anyone. I'm still drinking lots of red wine, just in case. You can never be too careful. Do you like the Tracy Anderson DVDs? You can mix up the last several months if they get boring for you.

I haven’t talked to the pediatrician yet so I wasn’t sure. I mean, I feel like if my kid is on a restricted diet (granted, I pay attention to the nutrients that are harder to acquire like this), and he's healthy, growing, and his labs are fine then kids without the restrictions are probably fine unless they're subsisting solely on chicken nuggets and milk, KWIM?

I found Cadence trying to hide chewed up meat in her dollhouse recently. My sister used to do this. We both hated to eat meat and eggs as kids. From what I gather, meat aversions are very common. There are quite a few moms in the Vegan Pregnancy and Parenting group that are really just vegetarians, but they hang out there for meal ideas because they say their kids refuse to eat meat. Atticus was offered meat until he was two, but he never wanted much to do with it. He really was only eating fish sticks. At that point, it was the only meat item I had to transition him away from.

🙄 Yep. Same thing over here. I know it’s a phase but I dislike it very much.

Speaking of that, I'm interested to see how this week goes at my sister's house. I think I mentioned before that my BIL & nephew have switched to a vegan diet because of their health issues. I'm wondering how she feeds everyone dinner. I know some nights they eat the same thing depending on the recipe but that has to be a pain in the ass for my sister.
I'm hoping to make her some freezer meals while I'm there.

Ugh, so sounds like my kid is right on track for his age. And we put him in time out for not eating his food so I’m sure we only made it worse. On another note, Evie is 18 months and will happily eat anything we put in front of her lol.

After our dr's appt Friday with the gastroenterologist, it made me fell horrible.
