The letter behind your name should not dictate the standard to which you should be held. KWIM? I wont excuse Frankens behavior any faster than I would Risch. MY problem is the moral superiority that some of the right seems to try and lord over the mere mortals. I dont always see that from the left, even though I'm sure its there. If you are going claim to be the party of family values then you should really value family. Thats a rallying cry from the right more than the left. I agree and disagree. I think there's absolutely the morality thing from the right, family values blah blah blah, then you're like this Ohio congressman who is caught cheating on your wife with a dude. But there's absolutely a counterpoint from the left too. Like the woke AF competition, highly educated therefore correct sentiment. Intellectual superiority maybe? I totally agree that this is an issue that should transcend political party and any double standards or whataboutisms shouldn't be accepted. The hypocrisy of being all about Christian family values while dating teenagers is the same as the hypocrisy of being all about women's rights while degrading/harassing/assaulting women. The more I talk and read about this the worse it feels. The news cycle has been exhausting lately. I need something good to happen.

We need to though. If we don't, who will? The letter behind your name should not dictate the standard to which you should be held. KWIM? I wont excuse Frankens behavior any faster than I would Risch. I didn't mean that we shouldn't hold others accountable. But that we need to start in our own house and say this is not acceptable. The GOP needs to do the same, i just don't see it happening. But unless Dems hold themselves to a higher standard they can't point fingers across the aisle.

Friday confession: At first I totally misread this as Brigham Young Republicans and wondered why a group of Utah republicans were censuring a candidate in another state.
I need a nap.

As usual, I'm left wondering how many years it's going to take us to undo the fuckery of the Trump administration. I spend a lot of time thinking about this. A lot.

What I'm afraid of is that it's just going to be a ton of back and forth from now on. Trump undoes Obama's stuff. Next Democrat undoes Trump's stuff. Next Republican just undoes it all again. KWIM?

Murkowski is now saying that she needs Alexander-Murray to pass before she'll vote to repeal the individual mandate. But Dems aren't going to vote for A-M if repealing the individual mandate remains in the tax bill. And they need 60 votes for A-M, so it won't pass without Dems.
This gives the Democrats some unexpected power here, but it all counts on whether Murkowski keeps her word.

Moore supporters are out there arguing that he needs to go to Washington to fight the good conservative fight. They'll forgive his past sins for future gains. This is the same argument, different side. Sort of flies in the face of Dems holding themselves to a higher standard. I can't get on board with it.

I think RonJon's going to flip.

The more I hear about the damn private jet write-off, the angrier I get. Millionaires saving on private jets don't help me. Snip Fuck these people. They only care about themselves and their buddies. (Sorry, needed to vent. PDQ.) I'm glad this was available to you. And share your rage at the removal of tax breaks that help the middle class. This is absolutely class warfare.

And like, this was just us. We have friends with serious medical costs that need those writeoffs too, and they're about to get screwed. So many people are about to get screwed by this plan and it just... God I can't.

There are some rumors swirling about a second Franken accuser coming forward. I'm not seeing anything from mainstream media sources yet, we'll see what happens in the next day or so.

ETA: Media Equalizer is not exactly a reputable news source. Not saying I don't believe her AT ALL, I'm withholding judgement until I read the details, but I do like to see my news reported by an outlet with some kind of journalistic standards. A quick perusal of Media Equalizer is not making me feel confident in a fair and balanced and well-researched story.

ETA: Ok she claims he got in her face and she felt intimidated by him. Later, he called her at home several times to argue and harass her (not sexually, just to fight about her politics). He didn't stop until she called the police. But no sexual component.

I just posted a summary of what she said. It's not sexual.
