As a (left-leaning) evangelical Christian, I am so disgusted, disappointed, and just generally appalled by some of the arguments being brought out to defend Moore. I completely understand why that would turn people off of church or Christianity as a whole if they didn't have personal friends who were Christian and strongly speaking out against it. It makes me wonder what it would take to make these kinds of people realize how abhorrent their arguments are.

The argument he has about being a man of God because he is a Christian is bullshit. There are "holier than thou" Catholics and Christians leading the church and that didn't stop them from molesting young boys for decades. Whats next? And I am really insulted by this whole "If the allegations are true" thing. As I have seen on Twitter and Instagram all weekend, why is it when a man says another man did something to him its fact but when a woman says something it's "If the allegations are true." ? I can understand the gold digger aspect but that is what investigations are for. As a man I am insulted by this argument. I am tired of the inequality.

Amy Klobuchar was on one of the Sunday shows yesterday saying that they could eventually invoke the Senate ethics thing to oust him if it became necessary. Its not done a lot but it IS done. (re Moore)
Also how do these people who thought the Clintons were running a ped ring out of a pizza parlor that was COMPLETELY UNFOUNDED believe that there is NOTHING to the Moore allegations.

Every time I look closer at the tax bill, I get even more outraged. Trickle down doesn’t work! It only helps the wealthy.

Pretty much the entire DFL has called for him to resign. I'm going to write my state Senator today but she just retweeted this, so I think she's on board.

These douchebags who complained about any cent of LEGITIMATE government spending for people in need are totally okay with adding to the deficit by 1.5 trillion when it benefits them and their wealthy donors. And they have the balls to claim this will pay for itself when every economic model out there says it MIGHT pay for 30% at the most. Rage.

Confirmation bias at its absolute ugliest. I'll admit Takei stung and makes me sad. But that doesnt mean I dont believe the accuser.

Whelp, he nominated Alex Azar, a former HHS staffer under Bush and a pharma exec.
So much for going after drug prices, huh?

So Trumpers are boycotting Keurig because they pulled ads from Hannity. That’s the best thing these people have ever done for the environment.

I saw Toomey on MTP yesterday trying to explain that it’s just “outliers” who won’t get a tax cut. Try again, asshole.

Who ate the 29% of voter MORE likely to vote for Moore following accusations of dating a 14 year old!?! They are those for whom loyalty and pride and being right are more important than honor and humility and changing your mind. Cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias make people into raw tribalists. The people of Johnstown PA who can say in one breath, "Trump has accomplished none of the things I said I would hold him to" and in the next "I give him an A+ and would vote for him again because he does what he says he will." The people who say Weinstein is a symptom of liberal sickness but all of Trump and Moore's accusers are liars. I can only hope they get tired out from their own rage sooner rather than later. No one can think clearly with a belly full of fire.

But the .001% of billionaires will be trickling down their cash all over us so don't worry.

Who ate the 29% of voter MORE likely to vote for Moore following accusations of dating a 14 year old!?! Nate Silver with a possible explanation: They seem more likely to believe that the women and 30+ sources are lying than Moore. Which, unfortunately, is perfectly logical in the Trump era...

The few smashing their keurigs videos make me laugh almost as much as I'm gonna burn my Kaepernick shirt. Like you can live without a jersey but.... I'm thinking their Monday morning uncaffeinated probably isnt going so well.

And I get that they won't be getting the pods anymore, but yeah they are jut making themselves grumpier.

He's doing the same thing he did with health care. Dropping tweets about stuff he wants in the bill's that are not in the bill's. I wonder if Ryan and McConnell even care anymore or just ignore it out of hand.

WaPo has a story this morning that due to the successful (from the D side) elections in VA next week, Gov Terry McAuliffe is being given a lot of credit for the success and being propelled into the limelight- setting him up for a 2020 White House run. I'm like wait, what? Since when is he due all the credit? I feel like I hardly have heard his name lately. This does not seem like a great idea.
ETA sorry I worded this so poorly. My brain has a case of the Mondays and I must have poured covfefe instead of coffee this morning. The caffeine is making my head duller.

Makes me not want to listen to NPR any more especially with them and Koch industries advertising on there. I am conflicted.

Confirmation bias at its absolute ugliest. I'll admit Takei stung and makes me sad. But that doesnt mean I dont believe the accuser. I know that I was flamed over the weekend regarding this matter. When the Takei story first broke, I wasn't ready to immediately denounce Takei– not because I didn't believe him capable of assault, but because, when the story first broke, there wasn't a lot of supporting information, and it wasn't coming from a source that I know to be reputable. I wanted more info. (And when I did later see the Stern interview transcript, obviously I was appalled.) Of course, there is a difference between withholding judgement and debating for hours that an accuser is a liar. I think we should always take every accusation of sexual assault or harassment seriously. I also don't think that that is in conflict with being a critical consumer of media. Obviously, one's role as a media consumer is very different than that of a crisis counselor, therapist, doctor, teacher, etc. We can take an accusation seriously without immediately drawing a conclusion about it. Especially, when we look at the history of white women in this country falsely accusing black men of rape/ assault/ harassment, resulting in their imprisonment or death (Emmitt Till, The Scottsboro Boys, The Central Park Five), I am wary of the notion that any accusation made within the media immediately needs to be believed, without any additional thought, and that anyone who doesn't is somehow anti-victim. Any accusation immediately needs to be taken seriously; that's a different thing.
