I have my follow up at the OB today. Workman's comp called to say they will pay for all expenses related to me but not the baby. How the heck do you separate us at this point? I asked about the ultrasound and they said they will pay that. Now if I wasn't pregnant, there would not have been an ultrasound or for that matter, any hospital visit.

Ladies, don't stress about the parties. (unless it is family judgement) The kids don't care about organized games or decorations, they just want to play with each other. The parents just want time that their kids can run around and have fun with friends and even better if the kids don't get hurt, fight, or into trouble. Whatever food you have will be appreciated. We are all in the same boat. That being said, if you enjoy doing all of it then by all means enjoy that. Just don't think other moms/dads are judging your house or party.

I hope your husband has a safe trip home Sunny41...and finds cheap lunch! kim22 that's bullshit about workman's comp. You might talk to your HR an see if they need to get involved (when you start getting bills).

I hope there isn't anything not covered.

I wonder if I'll be different when Josie and Charlie start having friends parties, although I don't think I would have those at home because I'm sure kids want some kind of entertainment. I get a little stressed when it's my family. Some of them can be a little critical, thankfully never of me, but I have never really given them a reason to be because I stress so much before they come over. Since having kids, I read this before I have people over and it always centers me a little. The people are there to celebrate our family and to enjoy each other's company, not focus on how pretty my mantle looks. www.seriouseats.com/2014/08/simpler-entertaining-friday-night-dinners-end-loneliness-how-to-build-community-after-having-kids.htmlThis is a lovely article. And the meal sounds like so much fun. I kind of miss living in the city where I could do that

I have never, ever, complained about anything at a kids party. My kid is running around and burning off energy while eating a meal I didn't prepare? Great. Bonus points if there are adult beverages and snacks for the grownups too. Never have I ever cared about decorations, favors, etc. Actually one time I did. I went to a 3 y/o party at someone's house and they had, no joke, 1 long sub for all the adults to share, and pizza, but only enough for 1 slice per kid. No chips, preztels, etc. I get migraines and had try not to eat cold cuts (it helps), so I didn't get to eat anything. Oh, and I was 8 months pregnant with B at the time. So I was Hangry. But that was extreme. I don't think anyone here would do that.

I am also guilty of attempting to do the most when we entertain. Most of it is b/c I genuinely enjoy it, but I also have a strong perfectionist streak that is tough to kill.
I type this as I’m out searching for Caspari-brand cocktail napkins and plates and mercury glass votive holders for Thanksgiving. 🙄

Hence the reason I made banners, wooden figurines for on the cake, went to Ikea for the food... Five years ago I bought 20 different vintage plates, antique cutlery, lace to put over white tablecloths, burlap and mason jars because I wanted to host a vintage style dinner 🙄🙄🙄.

I can appreciate someone putting this kind of effort into things. But give me a glass of wine or a beer, I don't give a shit if I'm sitting in a folding chair at a card table, or have to hold my plate to eat, I'm happy.

I genuinely enjoy entertaining, too. The date change really threw me and I want the vision of the party that was supposed to be next week to be executed this week. I take pride in all of the details.

And the first person to sit on the couch is going to mess up the perfect pillow placement, so why the heck do I care so much??

Morning guys! I’m slightly jealous of all these birthday parties that are happening. We may invite DH’s family over for cake or something but with an infant around, we aren’t doing anything big.
Matthew is sick so he’s going to the doctor in a little bit. Evie is getting sick too and she just got off a round of antibiotics about a week ago. What’s going on this season?!

I don’t judge at parties unless your house is dirty. Like, my sister invites people over for parties but doesn’t clean her bathrooms regularly and that’s gross. But if everything is at the minimum clean I’m happy.

That’s what the Workman’s Comp people told me too. Basically they said they will pay for everything that’s related to the injury I️ sustained but they wouldn’t pay for my labor and delivery charges. I️ didn’t expect that to happen anyway so it worked out. I’m surprised your OB released you back to work though. Mine said she was going to keep me on bed rest at home because she didn’t want it to happen again. I’m thankful it didn’t get to that point because I️ wouldn’t want some claims adjuster spying on me to make sure I️ was just sitting at home not doing anything lol.

Preschool just sent a letter home that they have three cases of HFM and the local elementary schools have even more. Yuck!

Our CEO finally called all the office staff into the conference room to tell us what's going on. His story doesn't quite match my bosses (picture rainbows and unicorns, how much better things will be). I'm pretty disappointed, especially since the 3 people who had been in the conference room before us, all looked like they had been crying before we were called in. But yet, it was an upbeat conversation. Uh, no, I'm not drinking your Kool Aid, unless there is vodka in it.
One of the girls who works in customer service (the other teletubby from Halloween) has been really frustrated with everything and pretty vocal about it. She told HR this morning that her old company has been contacting her regularly about coming back to work for them (she can start at any time). When the meeting ended, they asked her to stay behind. I'm dying to know what they're telling her! I already texted her and asked her to go to lunch.
