Work is pissing me off. I shouldn't feel guilty about taking off and using up my vacation days. So glad I have a day off tomorrow.

Thanks y'all. I really hate cancer, it's the worst. judyblume14 I live just around the corner from my parents, it's actually a point of contention for mh and I. We were only supposed to live here 3 years but there is no way I can leave when my mom is sick. He understands but he also hates Florida so it's hard. I'm so sorry you had to go through this, I honestly wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I have 2 days that are use or lose by the end of the year in addition to the days I plan to take at Christmas so I'm using one tomorrow. And feeling incredibly guilty and agreed to call in for one meeting. So annoying. But I'm so looking forward to a day off all by myself tomorrow!

I was off on maternity leave the first 3 months of the year. My boss can be really bad at thinking ahead and planning for when people take vacation. I'm still angry.

Oh meeggaannw, I'm so sorry for you to have to go through this. There are few things more devastating than the loss of your parent. Please enjoy the time you have left with your mom. Go out for girl days as long as she can, make new memories together. I don't know specifically what you're going through, but when my dad died suddenly last year, there were so many things left that I wanted to do. Had I known, I may have made more time to make them happen.

Yesterday was marvelous but now I want more sushi. I usually put one or two nice pieces of clothing on my Christmas list. I was thinking of my wardrobe which made me think of my high school/college style and now I really want a pair of corduroys. I had such a wonderful variety of corduroys back in the day. They were the small line and thin material kind, not the big old man type. Does anyone have a recommendation of where to start looking? I did find a pair on llbean that might work. But they are $$. I do love my jeans I got from there this summer.
ETA: back in the day I bought a lot of them from Old Navy but they only have skinny ones on their website. I'm not a huge fan of skinny jeans because it always feels like they are crushing my legs.

I have 3 PTO days left for the year. I'm using 2 for the days after Christmas. And the last one is for next Friday. My H and I are both taking he day off and sending the girls to daycare so that we can finally spend some time together. We are basically roommates and co-parents right now. We are in desperate need of a full day to ourselves!
Thankfully, my boss/company are not dicks about people using their vacation time.

Ds just peed and pooped on the potty totally unprompted! He ran off during a diaper change which he hasn't done in forever. He said bye bye mama and shut the bathroom door. Lots of grunts and toilet rocking. 😂 then ta-da!
Of course he decides this after I decided not to do anything until after the holidays because we will be traveling a lot. I guess I have to pursue it a bit now if he's interested.

Thanks ladies. I'm sorry to be a downer, I've been a mess for a couple days now. I just need to process and this is the easiest place for me to do it.

meeggaannw,m please know that you never need to apologize for going through something heavy. And don't feel bad for "processing" or "unloading" or "thinking out loud" here. Big hugs.

It's super cold and windy here today. I just want to curl up in bed and eat all of the carbs instead of packing for the weekend. I'm not looking forward to driving tonight either. But seeing my grandpa and being able to take him to some events for veterans will be nice. I'm currently guzzling a big mug of tea and trying to get motivated. It's not working.

So two questions. E's clothes get stained all the time mostly from food. I used stain stick on them, but it doesn't really seem to work. We use All Free&Clear as detergent. Any suggestions for getting the stains out?
When you feed your kids, do you control how much or do you let them control how much? Right now we let E control how much. I just wonder if that is bad or could lead to stomach aches. Sorry for the dumb questions.

peaseblossom55 we always use a bib for M, but if it's extra messy, I strip her down beforehand. My go to on stains is to rinse in cold water then soak in oxi clean mixed with water overnight before washing. I don't control how much my kids eat and our pediatrician has always supported this. I give them a variety of healthy options and they choose how much to eat of each. We've had instances with both kids where they ate so much they barfed but those have been rare occurrences and one of the doctors actually warned me that as kids learn their limits and find foods they really like, that might happen.

I may try the oxy clean idea too. We use bibs at every meal too. Sometimes a strawberry will fall in her lap and stain pants or something. My instinct was to let her eat until she tells us she is done. I was doubting my instinct there thank you.

peaseblossom55 +1 to following dd's lead with the food. I have better luck if I wet the stain and then apply the Shout spray. For grease stains I scrub it with Dawn dish soap. I haven't used oxyclean on kid stains yet but I recently soaked one of my nice shirts in it and the old pit stains came right out!

Channeled my inner Lakes this morning and took the kids on a 4 mile walk. My neighborhood was doing yard sales today but even with all our walking we only found 4 and bought absolutely nothing. Now I'm trying to cool down because I'm a sweaty mess. As soon as I put R down for a nap I'm giving dd a snack and a show and jumping in the shower. I needed to shower last night but planned on taking a walk this morning so I waited, now I'm gross.

It is flipping cold here today 😳😳 I'm feeling very supermom today and cooked a bunch of veggie noodles, put a pork shoulder in the crock pot, and started meatballs during nap time. Also, the roomba is roombaing so I'm sort of cleaning too. I'm just afraid she's going to wake up as soon as I get the meatballs in the frying pan.
Does anyone have suggestions how to deal with a scratchy baby. C is not getting the concept of "nice hands" and she's been scratching people's faces, then saying "ah" when we say ouch. I've tried putting her down, no very loudly, repeatedly saying nice hands (which she seems to get for the animals) to no avail. She has drawn blood on me a few times

The heat here at my mom/grandpa's is on at 74 which is amazing because I haven't been this warm in days and awful because I'm melting. Oh old people.

I'm between 2 Christmas dresses for E. One is a red dress with white trim made to look like santa's suit from kohl's. In target today I found a real gorgeous light pink dress. I'm torn between the two. While the pink isn't very Christmas like it was so pretty. The other is perfect for Christmas. Sorry no links this is the dress from target

I've been traveling so I forgot to respond but if you love the pink, go with it peaseblossom55! I think E is more of a pink girl anyway. There are some things I won't put my kids in even if it fits the holiday or season because it doesn't seem like it's them. That dress reminds me of the sugar plum fairies.
