hoosiermama76, how do you feel? The whole thing is such an emotional rollercoaster.

So question... who has actually fallen asleep for the retrieval. Because I sure didn’t. I felt drunk and relaxed, but I was completely aware and could feel everything. I was crying from the pain asking for pain medication. The good thing was that it only lasted 10 minutes. We got 11 eggs, 10 were mature, so they performed ICSI on all 10. We will hear something this afternoon with how many fertilized. No pain now though, had a little vaginal discomfort, no spotting. Overall I feel great! hoosiermama76 how are you doing?

skidevil87, this must have not been general anesthesia? Good luck with the fertilization report!

skidevil87, this must have not been general anesthesia? Good luck with the fertilization report! No, it was just IV sedation.

OMG skidevil87 that is horrible! That stuff freaks me out! Knock me out please. Glad it went well though and hope they fertilize and grow well! Good luck. Are you doing a fresh transfer? hoosiermama76, I hope all goes well today and your lining thickens up! Well I had a mild panic attack because after we got our lupron protocol for this cycle ER was lining up for DS bday. We have a trip to great wolf lodge planned. Honestly its like you have to give up so much emotionally physically and so much time for this process. The one thing I cannot compromise on is having it impact important time with him. I was so upset. I called to see if I could stay on BCPs a little longer and they agreed. Phew! So now my suppression check will be 11/27.

jense927, We are NOT doing a fresh transfer. I need to have surgery on 12/13. I need a hysteroscopy, to get my tubes removed and depending on the fertilization I'll have 2 endometriomas removed. I then have to wait until my January period to start an FET We just got a call that 9 of the 10 fertilized! I won't get another update until Thursday!

Is general anesthesia or IV sedation more common for retrieval?

fikafairy, I have had IV sedation for my retrievals. It knocks me out completely for about 20 minutes.

I've had IV sedation and 3 retrievals. For the first one, I was out, for the second one I "woke up" towards the end and the third one I was awake the whole time. I knew going in though that some people are totally out and some are not, so I wasn't too freaked when I didn't go under. I'm sorry it was such an unpleasant experience, but I'm glad you're feeling good now!

hoosiermama76, how do you feel? The whole thing is such an emotional rollercoaster. Well, thanks for asking, twohopes. I’m better now because by some miracle after going from 7 to 6.3 last week, it went up to 7.68 today. RE is having me come back Thursday morning, and if it moves to an 8, he’ll schedule transfer for Tuesday. I’m praying hard, but i know ultimately there is nothing i can do about it either way. I have just surrendered to the fact that this is all out of my control. I can take care of myself with working out, eating right, vitamins, and accupuncture, but I’m almost 42, and this is the situation I am in. I still have many blessings in life and still laugh almost every day. What else can i do?

skidevil87, thanks for asking. I am better because a miracle occurred and my lining went back up. I am still not out of the woods, but they are checking again Thursday. As for your question, both my retrievals were with general anesthesia. Sorry you remember it. Hopefully, you feel better soon s

Hi guys, I hope this is OK to post here. TW: moms and babies in need If you feel so inclined please also share on social media. I am trying to spread the word about a campaign at work ... Honestly, the most meaningful registry I have shopped from in a while.
🇵🇷 Puerto Rico Help for the Holidays 🇵🇷
I know we have all been captivated by the headlines of the devastation coming out of Puerto Rico the past few months. It is heartbreaking to see the suffering. Our staff on the ground, while are doing well, still find daily struggles.
However, they have alerted us that there are those in need even more than them: moms and babies. As we enter the holiday season, please consider purchasing an item off this wish list:
amzn.to/2yBrjqD
Our staff colleagues in Puerto Rico will distribute to families in need – both in NICUs, recent deliveries, as well as families they connect with through local programming.
You are more than welcome to shop for these items elsewhere or in different quantities from Amazon – please use this list as your guide (example: if you would prefer to buy a different brand of diapers, or citronella candles that is your choice). All items purchased from this list will go to White Plains where they will be packaged on a pallet and sent for distribution.
If delivering them in-person, you can leave them at the front desk Attn: Puerto Rico.
If shipping them, please send them to – March of Dimes Attn: Puerto Rico 1275 Mamaroneck Avenue White Plains, NY 10605
We ask that you please have your items delivered by Thursday, November 30th.
