I just started the podcast and recorded the series. I am here for all the talk. The small window of time it took her to vanish boggles my mind.

She got drunk and walked off into the woods and died from exposure.
I really do not want to admit the amount of time I have spent on reddit regarding this case.

I think she started walking down the road and got picked up by someone, voluntarily or not.

I think she started walking down the road and got picked up by someone, voluntarily or not. After watching most of the series, this is what I think too. I think she'd been drinking and wanted to get away from the accident scene. They made a good case for why she didn't just wander off. There would have been footprints.

I was #TeamWanderedOff until the last episode with the cadaver dogs. No footprints or anything in the snow, searched for miles with dogs, Etc. No drunk person is going to make it half as far as they searched.

No drunk person is going to make it half as far as they searched. I always kind of thought she meant to disappear, especially because of that James Kenner person. What that series proved is that she is unequivocally dead. Whether by accident or murder, she's definitely dead. Her poor dad. That part where he pointed out that it doesn't matter why she was where she was, all that matters is that he finds his daughter? UGH. SO. SAD. The boyfriend won't even appear on camera because the internet has ripped all of them to shreds. It's actually frightening what a blog can do to your real life if you don't act like they think you should.

::pops head up:: podcast? Which one?
Please tell me it's done by someone reputable and not another podcast of Up and Vanished quality.

::pops head up:: podcast? Which one? Please tell me it's done by someone reputable and not another podcast of Up and Vanished quality. It's called Missing Maura Murray. I get the feeling from comments about it out in the web world, though, that it's probably more along the lines of Up and Vanished. Maybe someone who has listened to it can comment, though.

I agree that the cadaver dogs episode convinced me she didn't wander into the woods and die. She got into someone's car.

FFMC: I didn't know the show Medium was based on a real person. When they said they were bringing in Allison DuBois I was shook.

Assuming she voluntarily got into a car, what's weird to me is why she didn't get into the bus driver's bus. Or follow him to his house to get help. Or decline the offer of help instead of just walking to a neighbor's house for help.
My guess is that the person who picked her up was an attractive younger man, and that she got into the car willingly.

I really recommend James Renner's Book True Crime Addict. I know the family doesn't like him. But the book is really good and I think he does have a lot of interesting information and theories about the case.

I don't believe his working theory that she ran off to Canada because her dad abused her. Her mom was sick and eventually died. I can't imagine a scenario where she hated her dad so much that she severed contact with her mother and her sisters.

I am thinking maybe he commented to that to her and that made her not want to go with him and not stick around.

Only online obviously and he really seemed to make a lot of assumptions if you ask me. He really reached. It didn't seem like it took this team much to look into the theories and rule them out.

But really though, all they really said is that he's dead and gone but I don't know why his account has been assumed to be truthful. Oh wait, now that I typed that...did he call 911 on her behalf? or was that just other neighbors?

Is the podcast an actual show or just the audio of the oxygen series?

No, I don't really believe that theory. But the book was still really interesting. tell me about it. I'm not going to actually read the book in the next few weeks, so please spoil it for me. he has been obsessed with true crime since he was a kid starting with the disappearance of this little girl near where he grew up. He also was diagnosed (?) as being a sociopath himself. His therapist surmises that he channels that part of himself by being obsessed with crimes instead of committing crimes. So he like throws himself into the case over multiple years. Multiple trips to UMASS and NH. Many, many interviews. So even if you don't buy his theory, he gives a lot of facts and perspective to consider.

Thanks McBenny, I've been meaning to check it out, a coworker is obsessed and recommended it. But when I looked it said "Oxygen series" so I was confused (and then a new MFM episode popped up and I got distracted).

::pops head up:: podcast? Which one? Please tell me it's done by someone reputable and not another podcast of Up and Vanished quality. I have only listened to two episodes of the podcast, and haven’t seen the show yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same guys who did the show doing the podcast. Either that, or they did some other type of documentary about her. I don’t know anything about their backgrounds, or how reputable they are. I am listening primarily for informational purposes; it’s easier for me to listen to the podcast in the car than it has been to track down the show on TV, so it’s helping me learn more about this case which I find very intriguing.
