My big issue is that our town has a downtown trick-or-treat tomorrow. I still need to find a white feather boa for M's costume.
Apparently they have them at target, but target is just out of M's puke-safe radius.
I think I will have to take a gamble today.

Ugh... O is supposed to dress as a character from a book at school on Halloween. He says all he wants to be is a triceratops, which we do have a book about, but he isn't allowed to wear a mask or hat or anything. I'm not sure how I can make that work.

I am so not ready for Halloween. The only costume item we've bought is Nugget's elephant suit, and I need to somehow find a green button down shirt for J and a blue long sleeve top for me, and make a vest for myself and ears and tails for both of us. And possibly make Nugget giant popsicle? That's a reach. Oh, and a friend commissioned me to make her a stuffed lizard for her Ms Frizzle costume, so that needs to happen in the next few days. And it all has to be ready for our party on Saturday, and also my house needs a serious cleaning.

Not closer than target, unfortunately. I really dropped the Amazon Prime ball this time.

If he's willing to do a different dinosaur, you could do a dinosaur hoodie, and sew/glue some felt/fleece spikes down the back and a tail... Then he can take the hood down because it's just part of the sweatshirt? kinda like this:

I just started thinking about Nugget's birthday, which this year is the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. Is it crazy to try and have her party on her actual birthday? We usually go to NY to visit the in-laws for Thanksgiving (2.5 hour drive) and have a small celebration there with family. We're debating if we'll go for actual Thanksgiving (we'd be with J's step-mom's brother's family, who we like but aren't terribly close with, and J's parents and maybe his sister) or just come the day after and stay overnight.
Is it bananas to drive up the day after TG and stay till overnight (J's other siblings usually come up on Friday) and then saturday evening drive back and have a party the next day for our local friends? We'd to actual TG at home or at a local friend's house. Or do we go for Thanksgiving and then drive back Saturday morning so we have some prep time? Or should we just have the party the next weekend and avoid all the nonsense?
Holiday babies are a challenge!

We do nothing special for Halloween so that's not a source of stress here lol. We always pick up candy and put pumpkins out but in 6 years we've never had more than 2 trick or treaters. We are the only house on our block that turns the lights on so I guess everyone avoids the street. It's too bad because my husband did not grow up with Halloween and he was so pumped about handing out candy to kids when he first moved here.
I absolutely LOVE the Christmas season, which also includes my birthday. I've been obsessively planning my Christmas baking list and I picked up a few new Christmas decorations this week. I don't put out any Christmas things until late November, and we always get our tree on my birthday in early December. We're going to do two trees this year, our usual real one upstairs and a fake one downstairs where we watch TV in the evenings. We're hosting everyone at our place for Christmas Eve so I'm also planning that menu. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!
The only hard thing is choosing gifts for my siblings, and my brother has had a SO for the past couple of years and she is HARD to buy for. I'm thinking a gift card to a restaurant for them... I was thinking of including a bottle of wine for the two of them until I remembered that she doesn't drink...

Dramaphile Whatever you are up for should work out! Several of my cousins were holiday babies and that worked out great because we always did family parties and that way everyone was already in town and it was an excuse for us to have another meal together and hang out some more. Our parties were never very involved though, usually just a quick dinner (my aunts would each bring a dish) and cake and presents .

The family party is the easy part since we'll just have a some dinner and cake while we're out visiting my IL's in NY since J's whole family will be there, it's the friend party at our house that I'm trying to figure out. Do that many people travel for the holidays?

Dramaphile, you should probably move to Canada so that her birthday isn't so close to Thanksgiving.

Can you do a white, pleated shirt or dress to mimic the wrapper and then a hat that looks like frosting with sprinkles? www.amazon.com/Neff-Womens-Cupcake-Beanie-Hat/dp/B003Z6OMCI?th=1&psc=1

Or a white pleated skirt, and decorate a shirt to look like cake and frosting?

Looks like-- cut bottom off of round laundry basket, hot glue fan-folded poster board onto it. Top with poly fill and sprinkles.
