nikkipal when you say it like that, it sounds easy enough. But one of the blogs I read said that it took them 6 hours! And 3 glasses of wine to make them. You really think it could be as easy as that?

tj, Anyway, I'm guessing the wine made it take longer (as I work on M's costume while drinking a beer).

The perfectionist in me is cringing b/c R Iris going to be a blonde Aviva (Aviva has dark brown hair). I doing a couple wigs that will work, but at $17-$27, I couldn't justify buying one. And NO ONE sells temporary brown hair color spray. Black, gold, silver, pink, green, every freaking color of the rainbow EXCEPT brown. Stupid. I'm not sure anyone will "get" her costume since it's just regular clothes

Looks like-- cut bottom off of round laundry basket, hot glue fan-folded poster board onto it. Top with poly fill and sprinkles. Uh huh. And where does one find such a basket? Because not at wal mart. I've already spent $30 on this stupid costume I don't even want to make. Why do I do this to myself?

I dunno tj, - M told me to be sleeping beauty and I just laughed at her. Actually I believed I asked if that meant I could go take a nap?

My M said I was going to be a princess and H was going to be a pirate. This isn't happening. However, if she said little cupcake and big cupcake, I might not be able to resist. That's pretty adorable.

I made these today, out of fleece and felt. I tied at least 200 knots (each piece of fringe is knotted). The kids and I are going trick or treating at the outlet mall tonight, MH can't come and I'm all anxious about doing it alone. I'll have to put J in the stroller because he's a darter, but I feel like his trick or treat experience will be less fun that way.

I made M’s chicken outfit. We had our downtown trick or treat this evening and she was complimented many times. I only had to buy the boa and the faux shearling vest (3.49 at the thrift store), everything else was repurposed or fabric scraps.

I'm probably the most type A, type B personality ever. I'm so frustrated right now because I'm a perfectionist and nothing is going to look the way I want to to. But I also wait until the last minute to start everything so it's my own damn fault. Should have just bought the frigging paw patrol costume from Walmart.

Hallelujah last night we went to the goodwill and managed to find all the clothing pieces we needed for our costumes and I got a dollar store police badge! I'm nearly done with my bunny ears and the tail should be easy, so tonight's project will be J's fox ears and tail. Thank goodness there's a light at the end of the tunnel!
Now we just need to finish cleaning the house and go food shopping and cook for the party on Saturday and try not to lose my mind. Decided I'm going to make a couple of big dishes of baked pasta (probably baked ziti and maybe Smitten Kitchen's mushroom marsala?). J is set on making some weird "butterfinger" bites which involve microwaving candy corn and mixing it with peanut butter...

It’s probably a BEC thing, but I’m slightly annoyed. We already planned and purchased a costume for DS. He’s actually the one who picked it out and has been SO excited about it. Yesterday we got a package from my IL’s with a different Halloween costume in it. DS threw a huge fit this AM because he couldn’t decide which costume to take to school for his Halloween party. Why wouldn’t they ask if he already had a costume? It’s the week of Halloween!

Target had a "dragon" headband and tail that look perfect for O's triceratops thing, except I'm not sure if I should try to draw a third horn on his nose or not. I also got green pants and a shirt but the shirt had girly patches sewn on it and some emboridered stars. I got the patches off, but those damn stars are going to be the death of me!

I know I'm not the only one doing last minute Halloween things, right?? That was me on Saturday, frantically shopping for last minute items and sewing/gluing so costumes would be done for our party at 5pm! They turned out cute, though

I'm not sure what to do about O's costume for school. His staples in his head are only an inch or so behind where his headband lays and the idea of the headband hitting the staples is freaking me out. I have a soft cotton headband and thought about trying to attach the triceratops horns to that but I'm not sure if it would work right. I don't have an alternative costume for him either.
