I voted this morning! My district is gerrymandered af so I have to drive to the opposite end of the county to do it, but I’m glad I went before work so nothing can come up to prevent me from it. My county usually goes very red but I’m hoping VA will come to its senses and be blue. There are some super important issues locally that need fresh ideas on our BoS but this is the land of good old boys so I’m not super optimistic about my candidate’s chances in the local race. I feel you. I'm in the land of good ol boys too and my county bleeds red. I'm nervous. I do always feel a little proud holding my BLUE sample ballot and having all of the old biddies stare at me half in disgust.

Waiting til DH gets home from work and then we’ll go vote. I kinda wish I could go now since I’m on maternity leave and have nothing to do anyway, but DH wants to go as a family and I think that’s adorable. I can’t wait!

Our polls open at 8 so I'll grab C and go after work. Shes excited but wanted to know why we arent voting at her school. She doesnt attend the neighborhood school. I was like look I'm too tired to explain polling locations and districts etc. We'll get into that when you're older. We are in the same boat. I spent the morning at DS’s school, which is a polling place, but will need to head over to a different school to actually vote. 🤷🏻♀️

Well. Y'all Alexandrians put Fairfax to shame. 29 percent by 10 a.m.?! Thanks for posting that! I was going to check on that. I guess I probably was around the 700th voter at my station at 8 am then! ETA in last gov election, turn out at noon was only 28%!

The busiest polling station I've ever attended was in 2012 to re-elect President Obama. We got there at 6:30 and waited 90 minutes in the dark, and it was so cold. Worth it Same here. My husband actually ended up not voting because he had to get to the airport for a flight to...I can't remember, just that it was an international flight. After we waited an hour after getting there before the pills opened and it looking like another hour, he left and I walked home after voting. (Our polling place is only a mile from our house.) He would have missed his flight. I voted after being in line almost three hours. Our district went for Romney. I tell my husband it was his fault. I was also newly pregnant and I remember asking the lady behind me if she would hold my spot so I could go throw up. Everyone around me was nice enough to let me back in line several times. End only semi-related anecdote.

Guys the Gillespie table was so sad. It wasn't even a table. It was a folding chair and two signs. The Northam side had a tent, a giant bowl of candy and three volunteers lol

There was one for the kindergarteners at A’s school this morning and I didn’t have any cash on me to make a donation.

It's sad that they think they can't win without dirty tricks

It's sad that they think they can't win without dirty tricks I mean I'm not surprised in the least, it's just disappointing that they keep trying it (and that I'm sure some people fall for it which emboldens them to keep trying it).

I'm getting very little work done today. Thankfully I've had conference calls where I don't matter so I'm just texting away!

These turnouts are great! Loudoun is reporting approx. 14% as of 10:00 am, but I can't find anything more updated.

I'm really hoping all these high turnout numbers are Democrats finally getting off their butts about non-presidential elections.

I wish some mother ducker would call me and tell me my polling place is wrong. Right? Generally I would pitch that anyone who experiences anything fishy like this or anything questionable at a polling place should contact the voting hotline that DOJ runs (I worked it in 2012) but I’m not 100% confident it’ll do you any good anymore. I’m waiting for DD to wake up from her nap. Of course the one time she actually takes a long nap is today LOL
