You must listen to Slow Burn. I also just heard about a new one called "Chompers." It's for kids, and each episode is 2 minutes long so they listen while they brush their teeth. Ok so I’m mid-e3. Holy shit at the parallels

I pick and choose from Fresh Air- but I just listened to the interview with Jake Tapper and found it interesting. He just wrote a book of fiction- and Id be interested in reading it. Its about the 50s (Hellfire Club)

Also, I think it would be remiss for me not to mention Tom Ashbrook's dismissal from WBUR/On Point. I really will miss his voice, though it perhaps it was necessary.

Can anyone recommend a history podcast? After listening to Monday's The Daily about the family in Korea, I realized I know little to nothing about the Korean war. Books could also work especially if I can find an audio version....
But there's so much history I slacked off on in HS and/or we didn't get to - I loved Slow Burn and feel like I have a clue now...
I know about the one about things you missed in HS but feel like the time I tried it it wasn't all that good.

It just didn't grab me and hold my attention the way that some podcasts do. I too would like a good history podcast if anyone knows of one. This article looks like it has some good recommendations www.telegraph.co.uk/radio/podcasts/the-best-history-podcasts/

University of the Air! If you want to learn about ancient Phoenicia this is your place. Warning it’s often dense (in a good way)and a little lecture hall Ish. It’s made for public radio not podcast per se, but it’s good
ETA: I’m kind of nerdy so grain of salt...

If you want more focused topics but still in a “good for listening” way, I cannot reccommend The Great Courses enough. I’ve bought quite a few at this point. They are designed for listening and easy comprehension. stringy

No... they’re like $30-$50 for a course and are often on sale. EDIT - some are video courses - skip! Some some are long - skip! Stick to the sale section.

I'm going back to Slow Burn for Season 2. Almost as good as the first one IMO. I binged yesterday and was really surprised about all I didn’t know (I was in elementary school) about Clinton. I guess with all of the conspiracies even dating back to Bill’s terms, I can see how a generation older than me would remember that and distrusted Hillary. I still don’t understand trusting trump more though.

There’s some I had forgotten about like Vince Foster though Also I laughed when they were talking about Hillary having to testify and it being the hardest thing ever. Talk about some great prep for the million hours of Benghazi

Girl definitely embodies the saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I won't spoil it but the latest episode has an interview with Linda. Parts of it really ticked me off and others made me kinda sorta understand why she did what she did.

I used to be excited whenever Gimlet Media introduced a new podcast. Sadly, it seems as if every time Gimlet introduces a new podcast now, they have less than a year's worth of episodes, and then the podcast just suddenly either goes on hiatus or gets cancelled.
I liked Gimlet's Crimetown and also Uncivil.

Have any of you been listening to Trump Inc? This was posted so long ago but I just found this thread. I’ve listened to 5 or 6 Trump Inc’s and they’re very interesting. I really enjoy it. Another good one for delving into Trump history is the Dollop podcast episodes on Trump. It’s a 2 parter. They’re brand of humor isn’t exactly my style but I enjoyed it. Their episode on Andrew Jackson was also interesting.

Quoting myself because I remembered that the same day after listening to Slow Burn, I listened to a few episodes of My Favorite Murder and one was about the boys on the tracks in Arkansas that had a dirty DA involved in drug smuggling and a tie to Bill Clinton’s brother, so it left me feeling extra pessimistic about all politicians in power.
