Right now the shelters here in RI have a couple pit bulls, a few small breed dogs, and a German shepherd. One of the MSPCAs in MA has a chocolate lab but not good with kids. No other labs at shelters within 100 miles. All rescues.

wineallthetime I have my OB visit tomorrow. Remind me of your EDD, kim22? Or I guess maybe you are doing a CS? Have they scheduled it? I'm 12/23. My hospital won't put me on the OR schedule until 36 weeks.

I just ordered takeout from Longhorn Steakhouse for Dh to pick up on his way home. The plan is for me to have the kid in bed by the time he gets home at 7:30 and then I will go for a run and eat. We will see what the kid thinks of this plan...

It's meet the teacher night at daycare, I'm not sure if I mentioned it. I've never gone before because although they start following a "curriculum" as soon as they leave the infant class, their day is still mostly play-based and flexible. With the more structured pre-K schedule and kindergarten readiness assessments coming in the spring, I want to have a clear picture of what Colin's doing and make sure his teacher knows of my concerns with him being the youngest in the class. I'm also hoping to get the chance to talk to a couple of the other Moms who are teachers. They are all staunchly anti-red shirting and I want to hear their reasoning.
I'll also probably stop by Chase's class to say hi because I love his teachers. They were great with Colin, too, and it's kind of weird to think they won't have any of our kids again once Chase moves up.

Would you get a dog from a shelter or just a rescue? I’m fairly certain the shelters here (humane society, etc) are full of labs. Absolutely! In our area though labs are adopted from shelters very quickly. We also would like a bonded pair if possible which is an even taller order. We're hoping to get a bonded pair of Rexes or Sphynx when we get new cats. It's super hard to find them in Rescues because they are such an obscure breed. We might be without a cat for quite some time.

joelies do they hope a TK program there for kids with Fall birthdays? CT's kindergarten cut-off is December 31st, so fall birthdays are lumped with the earlier ones. We could just send him to daycare for an extra year - there's a girl in the other pre-K class who is repeating - or we could send him to Montessori for kindergarten. The benefit of Montessori would be that we have the option in the fall of 2019 to send him to kindergarten OR 1st grade in town, based on where he's at. But that would take him away from all his friends for a year and with strangers. Given his introverted tendencies - he really shines when he's with kids he knows - I don't love that idea. I also don't love the idea of repeating pre-K for a handful of other reasons. Hence wanting to hear from local teachers why they'd suggest he just go to K. This is going to be my obsession for the next 10 months or so, LOL.

I picked up a shift covering in the ER this evening. I’d much rather take a nap instead. Plus I don’t think I’ll make it home in time for grey’s.

That reminds me, peachsmama Do not but the Beyond Meat crumbles or chicken strips. They are inedible. I had to reply to this. I tried the Beyond Meat Beast Burger - the packaging lured me in at Whole Foods - and OMG NASTY. I don't know if it was the smell of it when it cooked, or just the taste alone, but HORK.

Joelies, I spent a good chunk of last Friday night looking at transitional programs in this area in case we're still here at the start of the school year (hoping to be in CT by that point). I am on the fence, like you, because I like the option of either repeating kindergarten or going directly to first-- ugh!!

Cher how are you? And how’s the house?! Did I answer this? I feel like I did but I might have imagined it. So in conclusion, I'm a hot mess.

We got it last week, and Josie wore it on Monday. It actually washed very well, too, which was surprising because I had heard the opposite about the Cat and Jack line. I don't love the outfit together, it's cute, but I think the shirt will look good with a different pair of pants and the dinosaur pants will definitely look good with a multitude of shirts. I also bought a pair of Halloween pants from Cat and Jack. Pants are black, orange, white, yellow and like a plum color. So I bought a plum shirt to coordinate (still that brand and Halloween themed) to coordinate with it, and plums are different colors --which really annoys me. And now that is far more than you needed to know about my experience with this target brand.

Looks like soft pants and tv for me.

I did get my niece this outfit as part of her birthday gift. I'm kinda wishing I had spent time searching other stores but I ran out of time! www.target.com/p/toddler-girls-top-and-bottom-set-cat-jack-153-dark-denim/-/A-52605346#lnk=sametab

@wine, Those pants are cute! I feel the same way about the shirt. I understand how it coordinates, and it's cool that it's a different texture, but I don't feel like it works.

Evie got an American Girl catalog today in the mail. She loves dolls, but I didn't think she'd care much. Boy, was I wrong! She wants everything! I heard 'oh my gosh!' so much as she was looking through it.
That shit is expensive! Definitely something the grandparents can get her.

Stupid penny wats has a new rule this year that you can put silver coins in other classes jars so they lose points. Cadence has brought in over 1000 on her own, yet our current score is 350. She raided her piggy bank and has another bag of pennies to take tomorrow, plus some silver coins for other classes.
Also, how does my kid have so much money in the damn piggy bank? There was over 300 dollars in there! I'm jealous.

This year the money raised is going to a school we "adopted" in Florida that was hit hard by Irma.
