Is there a specific reason to give vitamin D? My pedi never has mentioned it and now I'm curious if I should ask her. There’s not enough in breastmilk so all bf babies should get supplement drops daily to make sure they don’t develop scurvy (and other vit d deficiency issues).

Thanks jt2378 and addymac for the info! I did not know that, even with my first! It's good to know and I will ask my pedi about it now for sure!

Baby gets some vitamine D from BM and sun exposure but not enough hence the supplement. I was also told to give her vitamin K drops while BFing. Formula fed babies dont need those as it is already in the formula. I forget what vit K does..

R slept from like 8pm to 5am. She was stirring at 3:30am, so I gave her the pacifier and then went to make her a bottle. I got back to bed and she was asleep. So, I ended up dumping the bottle and making a new one when she got up for real. I wish I didn’t have a toddler to worry about waking, so I could just wait until she’s crying before I get out of bed.

I'm just catching up on this thread and it's reminding me that I've been totally forgetting to give M her vitamin D this week! Anyway, after sleeping really well all weekend while MH was home (including sleeping 7 hours straight one night) we're back to being up every 2 hrs now that I'm solo again. Ugh!

Anyone else's LO have super dry scalp? I don't think it's cradle cap, she just has a real dry flaky scalp the last few days. I tried putting coconut oil on it last night after her bath but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. Anyone have any remedies?

It's supposed to be the start of the feeding I yhink I did count from the start when she was little but now usually count from the end. And oof wanting to nurse every hour is rough. D still nurses at a really slow pace most of the time taking 25min per boob easily.. glad there is usually an hour in between feeds counting from the end or I'd go crazy.

Tho not just her scalp, she seems to have dry skin period, especially her little legs I notice are really dry. Which is one of the reasons I don't bathe her really often -makes it worse. I use Zwitsal baby oil to rub on after bathing her which helps a lot. And makes her smell so "baby" 😊

The only thing that ended up working was to put aquaphor on it.

Alright ladies, recommend the bottles your baby will drink from. I'm back to work on Sunday and E won't drink from Dr Browns, Medela, Avent, or MAM. She was taking Dr Browns until about a week ago. Now she gets pissed if H tries.
I'm stressing out a bit!

My coworkers and a few moms of our preemies swear they are the best bc they’re the closest to a nipple and their kids had no issues going from bottle to breast and back. ETA: and we had tried Dr Browns w all these kids cuz that’s the first bottle our OT/pt ppl use. And the kids were like nope! Only tommy tippee

Yup another vote for tommy tippee, worked great with my first and seem ok with M but she hasn't taken too many bottles so hard to know for sure

I took a fine tooth comb and sort of brushed it up while I nursed him. It flaked off easily. It hasn't come back in most spots either.

Would you ladies share with me what your evenings look like? And does baby nap/sleep in the livingroom with you before settling for the night? Do you keep light and tv/noise down or ?

Cluster feeding every damn night! Pretty much from 7-10 or 11 she lives on the boob, takes catnaps, and then usually finally seems pretty well asleep so I transfer to my room. I know I shouldn't bitch because she mainly STTN but it sucks to have no downtime every night. We do keep a light and tv on when she is in the living room with us. She did a longer stretch last night like 10-6:45 so if I can keep trying to get it earlier that would help. I do think maybe it's overstimulating in the living room but I can't really be putting her to bed super early because then she will clearly be waking more MOTN. I have no idea how I will transition her to her crib in her room. So far she is not a fan going in for a nap! What's D's routine?

I try and put A down on the earlier side of the night. I usually get ready around 6, bath if it's bath night, diaper change, PJs, put his blanket sack on him and the nurse him until he falls asleep. Most nights it's about 7:30pm. I have the white noise machine on, turn the lights off and have my laptop in bed catching up on a show while he falls asleep. I usually have to put him down a couple times before he really passes out. I try to use a pacifier while rocking him the first time he gets up after nursing.

No. <insert cry face> He has been giving me a 3-4 hour stretch the first part of the night again though, so that's promising. But then it's back to every hour or 2 hour wake ups the rest of the night. I've now tried gas drops, but it hasn't seemed to make a difference. I have thought about putting him down later at night, but he pretty much starts to fall apart right around 5. So I figured if he's tired enough to go to sleep I might as well just put him down for the night.
