While I understand the immediate reaction of disgust, I am not so sure that the whole Pence family is like Mike. I'm sure they are Republicans, too, but I don't read them as Christian-right ideologues like Mike. Just based off of my reading of the New Yorker article about him in which his mother and one brother are interviewed, so feel free to correct, I'm sure others know more than I do. www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/10/23/the-danger-of-president-penceI read that earlier this week. They said Mike is hilarious and his nickname was Bubbles because he was the fun one. The one who is running's nickname was Mr. Harassment or something. Soooo, I have my doubts. Lol. This is so spot on. He could legitimately be promoting what's happening with ISIS and Raqqa right now but his petty nature and lack of empathy are his own worst enemy. But Raqqa probably wasn't on Fox & Friends. You'd think it would be if for no other reason than they could pull the "Trump did what Obama couldn't..." line. |

I just CANNOT with Trump's bullshit call to a grieving widow. Not only does that individual interaction make my skin crawl and my heartache, but it shows how disposable he views the lives of the men and women in his command. He's reckless and unstudied in all his policy decisions, then you layer on top that he sees soldiers as throw-away pawns to go in and do his bidding. And so what if they're hurt, because they knew what they signed up for. It is outrageous and scary.

They might actually have to report on the power vacuum and other shit going on in the aftermath, though, Lol. That is not the Fox News way. And I don't disagree with you at all re: vacuum and what's next. I'm just somewhat amazed that Trump and the WH are not making more hay out of it. |

Ok I'm kinda icked out by CNN replaying the delivery of Sgt Johnson's body to his wife. I understand they are saying they are trying to 'honor' him but at some point replaying her grief over and over is disrespectful to her and her family.

They interviewed a widow on CNN who was with Pence at Dover. She was told to wait for a phone call and it never came, nor did a personal letter. She did get the certificate you can ask for. I can't remember what incident it was.

I'm getting uncomfortable with the politicizing of the process of who called, etc.
Its a horrible situation for the family of the fallen. A lost child, spouse and/or parent is awful and thats where the focus should be.
At this point, if it were shocking I would say differently, but he is who he is and he isnt going to change. We cant shame into being a decent human being.
