If that Trump phone call story is true, it's despicable There was a witness. My heart hurts for this widow. ETA it's a thread I know and I have little trouble believing he would say that. I'm just a little hesitant since the whole story came from a Democratic Congressperson. That said, I have not looked at the internet yet this morning so I could be behind.

Thread: Also, if Trump has “proof” (which I highly doubt), why doesn’t he just share it instead of saying he has it? I mean I know his word is good enough for his base but if he wants to “gotcha” Democrats and the media so bad... Oh right, because he has no proof and is a narcissist who can’t tie his shoes without someone telling him how great a job he did. This is a great thread, thank you for sharing it. It's also worth noting (and sorry if someone has already touched on this, I'm thread hopping) that many (I don't have facts to back up saying "majority" but I would suspect it's the majority) who enlist in the military aren't doing it purely for the altruistic desire to fight for our country. Obviously, there has to be an element of that and I am forever grateful to and supportive of our servicemembers. But it is well documented that vast numbers of those who enlist do so for other reason i.e. financial, to escape an abusive home situation, etc. So "He knew what he signed up for" is such a bullshit thing to say.

His repeatedly flip-flopping all over the place on CSRs might be the thing that sends me over the edge. He's not giving GOP members would vote it any cover at all.
And it doesn't bode well for DACA.

This is a good read, and the following quote needs to be blazoned on political ads in swing states for 2018:
"Over the past two weeks, though, as I spoke with a nearly dozen health insurers, actuaries, and policy experts, there was near-unanimous consensus: Trump was directly responsible for driving premiums higher. If the White House had made a good-faith effort to implement Obamacare, they said, premiums on the marketplaces likely would have increased by single digits on average."

Oof, Johnson's mother has confirmed the Trump phone call to WaPo.
I pray he doesn't go after this family like he did the Khans.

Oof, Johnson's mother has confirmed the Trump phone call to WaPo. I pray he doesn't go after this family like he did the Khans. There is approximately a 2% chance that Trump can let it go and move on. I think it's going to get ugly.

He knows McCain wont back down so hes going to go after the vulnerable. Its disgusting.

So disgusting, but what else could be expected from a draft dodger and one who mocks war heroes because they were captured? He has a complete lack of empathy. This whole presidency just makes me sick.

This is so spot on. He could legitimately be promoting what's happening with ISIS and Raqqa right now but his petty nature and lack of empathy are his own worst enemy.

Trump is of course denying what was said in the phone call to the widow of the soldier. I’d like to know how he could prove he didn’t say it. Duh, he’s a man and it’s a women, so, of course we are supposed to believe him. 🙄😡

Proving yet again that he’s not even good at the thing he’s supposed to be good at - business. Because a good business person would market good news and not soil its brand.

This is usually when he's at his worst, when challenged by women or POC. I wonder how Kelly feels about whether it's his job to manage his boss now.

I just read about the "he knew what he signed up for" thing. That is first line of what any "good" patriotic non-military person says to a milspouse who is frustrated or angry at any part of military life, and it's usually followed by "be grateful for..." A good milspouse should always shut up and support their service member's job because "they knew what they signed up for." Like when I bitched to a friend about H deploying 10 days after DS2 was born- "well, you knew what you were signing up for, be grateful they let him stay for the birth." It's always a shitty thing to say, but it's extra shitty with the context behind it, knowing she's probably heard it a million times for much lesser complaints in the last several months. Really?! It's something I would never dream of saying to a military spouse...

Mike Pence's brother is running for Congress in Indiana. Swell. While I understand the immediate reaction of disgust, I am not so sure that the whole Pence family is like Mike. I'm sure they are Republicans, too, but I don't read them as Christian-right ideologues like Mike. Just based off of my reading of the New Yorker article about him in which his mother and one brother are interviewed, so feel free to correct, I'm sure others know more than I do. www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/10/23/the-danger-of-president-pence

They said Mike is hilarious and his nickname was Bubbles because he was the fun one. The one who is running's nickname was Mr. Harassment or something. Soooo, I have my doubts. Lol.
