DH is on toddler duty this week (drop off and pick up, we usually share) while I closely monitor my BP. I feel bad, a little, but it's nice having zero responsibility these last few days!

Girrrrl use that excuse every day. Because it's really not an excuse at all. BP is no joke! I hope you're able to relax a bit before baby. I spent an entire weekend on the couch. It was glorious.

rachydc, sorry about your accident yesterday. The whole situation seems frustrating.

Congrats burritosateverymeal!! I checked and the bank is processing our paycheck today so I'm thinking today is some Target therapy. I may even get some Starbucks. Bonus points if it jump starts my labor. Actually no, I'm now holding out for the 13th so Ev and H can share the same birthday.

Same old news over here, just trying to get through two more weeks of work. MH told me yesterday that FIL was upset he may miss the birth of this baby if I make it to my induction date because he’s flying to Cali to meet his other new grandchild. I laughed because, why would I care if he’s mad? But then was annoyed when MH told him he didn’t think I would make it much longer. Like don’t put that kind of pressure on me!!! I also haven’t told MH I’m leaning towards having no visitors in the hospital.
Also, would you allow doctor to strip your membranes at 37w3d? My next appt. is Friday and I was 2cm dilated at my last appointment. I’ve done my research and know there is only a 24% chance of it working so i am probably overthinking it.

caitost21, If you want it done, there's no harm in sweeping them. Like you said, and I've experienced, it's not proven to be the #1 method of jump starting labor.

@caitost, i would let my doctor make the call. Never hurts to ask! My husband and i were discussing success rates of various induction techniques and for at home induction things, we have pretty much decided it is just that if enough heavily pregnant women do something, some of them will go into labor and a new old wives tale will be born. Not that any of that stops me from having EOD sex and making eggplant parmesan for dinner tonight.

Welp, 40+4 over here. I walked the mall for hours yesterday and the pressure increased and was more painful so I was so sure I was going to be waking up in the night to contractions. No such luck. Going to chiro today after DD’s dance class (where we are now) and then I plan on spending nap time using my pump for nipple stim and bouncing on my ball. Midwife will strip my membranes tomorrow at my appointment if nothing has happened by then

burritosateverymeal, congratulations!! Welcome, baby burrito! Just got back from J's first pedi appointment (4 days old) and doc confirmed our suspicions - that he's looking pretty yellow. Got some bloodwork to check for jaundice and should hopefully hear back this evening what his levels are and whether or not we need to go back to the pedi tomorrow.

Getting the deluxe pedicure hoping that it helps move things along... 37+5 today and I’m so over pregnancy... up most of the night because I either couldn’t breathe, I had to pee, or I couldn’t get comfortable...

Keep the feedings up is the advice I've been given and hopefully they can avoid being readmitted for the light therapy. Although that is the best way to reduce the numbers.

I updated the appointments thread... short version of my appointments... 1-2 cm dialated and baby's head was right there... I went ahead and had my membranes stripped, that was uncomfortable. Ultrasound went well, baby measured a bit behind but other than that everything looked good.
Then I came home to DD sleeping and went for a nap myself because 4 am wake ups suck.

Just got back from the chiropractor.
Me : "can you make this baby come out?"
Chiro : "haha (nervous laugh), you look great"
...guess that's a no.

Does stripping membranes hurt? How long does it take? I think that getting a cervical check hurts....

Baby dropped. I feel like i have a basketball about to fall out my cervix everytime i move. Contractions are more mild and spread out today than they have been for the last 10 days. Also my toddler is toddling hard. We got a car cart at the grocery store, so when i got him out, he was upset and thrashing around. He poked my eye and my contact fell out, so that was a fun trip home.

Ack trinitrotoluene, and I thought it was annoying when DS knocks my glasses off while flailing about. But it's sounding like you're getting close!

I can't remember if it hurts per se, but it's very uncomfortable. I want to say it hurt more than just a cervical check, but nothing super painful. I was pretty crampy afterwards. Guess my memory will get jogged tomorrow (hopefully)

Midwife appt was looong but good! Baby is doing well. I'm dilated to 3cm, completely effaced. Induction scheduled for early Friday morning unless baby comes before then on his own. DD was born on a Friday the 13, so that'd be kind of fun.

I haven't read anything yet, and feel woefully behind this week. I was catching up on some TV this afternoon while DD naps and while feeding DS, and the new episode of Blackish was available.
I don't know if anyone else watches this show, but I love it and find the way they handle family challenges and current events pretty compelling and on point (all while still maintaining the funny). This week's episode was all about Post Partum Depression. If you can get your hands in it, I highly recommend watching it. It's very timely for our group of new moms and moms to be.
You can stream the entire show on Hulu. I don't know if it's also on Netflix.

Also, if you want to go back and watch the episode of the baby's birth, which deals with pre-term delivery and pre-eclampsia, it's the last episode in season 3.

It’s just such a well written (and acted) show.

It seems only fitting.
