Oh but it's ok they are good at sports. This is not ok in high school or the NFL. Fire them all. Yes, but the most important thing is that I bet they stood for the anthem the next game. All the rest, well... ::shruggy guy::

Please tell me that there can be some sort of lawsuit or something that will stop the rollback Trump is doing to the ACA. I saw this morning that he is also ending cost sharing subsidies.
With all of his EOs and changes I’m getting just...depressed? Defeated?
Same with him ending US adherence to the Iran nuclear deal.

And re: the CSR's, fuck him. He's stepping on the heads of sick poor people to make himself look taller.

A federal court previously ruled that Congress had to move to fund the CSR's, but the Obama administration was appealing it in the DC Circuit. AG Schneidermann, along with several other attorneys general have been screaming like their hair is on fire since the Inauguration bc, obviously, Trump's HHS isn't pursuing the appeal. So yes, there will be lawsuits. Many, many tremendous lawsuits.

I was reading this on twitter last night. He is not only a pastor but he is the Sherriff of Caboa Parrish. A double threat to POC there.

Like I might need to take up kickboxing or something because I have a lot of pent up aggression. I've been considering this lately. At minimum, getting a punching bag to hang in the garage.

If you get a chance to listen to today's The Daily, Glen Thrush gives a perfect analysis of yesterday's briefing. There's also absolutely horrific coverage of the genocide in Myanmar. Tough to listen to, but important

I'm so mad about the CSRs that I can't see straight. He's doing the same thing he did with DACA. Cut something off that has very real-life implications for people and then kick it over to Congress to "fix."
Instead of just continuing the program and working with Congress to get something done.
It's such absolute bullshit.

It was, what, like 11 pm? And totally lost with the talk of the Iran de-certification this morning. Hoping he could slip it in and people would miss it? Or, as someone posited on Twitter, he saw people saying his EOs weren't going to be as catastrophic as he thought and went "oh yeah, well how about THIS?" Either way, FUUUUCK HIM. My BIL emailed me this morning asking what would happen with all these decisions to undermine the ACA. He has a rare enzyme disorder with incredibly expensive medication and I know he's terrified.

Relevant to our conversation yesterday, a panelist on 1a just said that FEMA was in NOLA for 6 or 7 YEARS after Katrina. So Trump just needs to STFU and has no idea what he's talking about, as per

I think the only way that CSRs and DACA would make it through Congress is if Schumer and Pelosi are willing to have a government shutdown. There's no way that Republicans vote on "saving Obamacare" and "amnesty" as their first notable pieces of legislation otherwise.

Also, after doing more reading on Women's Convention, Maxine Waters is the headliner. Bernie is just the opener. That makes me feel a little better about the whole thing, but I'm still pretty furious they couldn't find a woman to fill the slot. Apparently they asked Clinton, Warren, and Harris and all were unable to slot in. And their general speaker line-up is pretty fantastic. I just wish they could have found someone other than Bernie for the headline. A WOMAN to begin with, but if it had to be a man, at least a man with a stronger record of supporting women, repro rights, etc. So that is what Tamika Mallory claimed on Twitter in a thread of pretty bitchy tweets insinuating that people were only upset because they can't read and disrespect WOC. But she is quoted in the USA Today article in question saying Bernie was the perfect headliner. So she was dragging us for reading her quote. No word last I saw about it being a misquote or anything. Lots of people also pointed out that there was no indication on the website (at that time) that Maxine Waters was headlining, just that she was attending/speaking. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but they should have triple-checked their messaging strategy (and double-checked their own quote) before lashing out at everyone who was mad.

OH. I'd forgotten that. And her comments about Maxine in the same article say nothing about Maxine being the main draw. Only that she'll also be speaking. Huh. HUH. Also Tamika: "I think that right now, no one can deny that Bernie Sanders is probably one of the most powerful U.S. senators ... on progressive issues, women’s issues, mobilizing millennials. He is really in line with the principles of the Women's March."

What are your suspicions? I'm not familiar with this. It's kind of weird he didn't want to get on a plane and leave... That's what sent up a red flag for me. I've done more digging and the Daily Mail has more info but I think they are sometimes a bit sensationalist. Here is the link to their article: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4977588/Taliban-hostages-return-Canada-instead-US.htmlIn it his friends describe him having an "academic interest" in terrorism and say he might have been converting to Islam when captured. Their families supposedly didn't know they were going to Afghanistan. Apparently he was married previously to a woman who has strong family ties to terrorism and who defended what happened on 9/11 and this is why he feared going into US custody by getting on the plane. Your wife has supposedly been defiled in front of their children and you've been in, essentially, prison and you're insisting on a commercial flight instead of getting on a plane that will take you anywhere? I guess I'm just seeing a lot of red flags. Why didn't they tell their families they were leaving the country? Why not get on the plane?
