I need to make a list of what I still need to do. I was thinking this morning about when I need to install the infant seat into my car. I just keep thinking, "I will wait until Nov. to do such and such" and I might run out of time.

Beets, goat cheese or feta, walnuts, and roast chicken make an amazing salad with a bit of balsamic and olive oil. Y'all are missing out. I'll eat everyone's beets.

How did I miss that we were having our first baby today?! That's crazy! Is she being induced for a medical reason? Either way- wishing you all the best!!! Can't wait to see a baby! (Don't want to tag her in case she doesn't want to be bothered!)

This weekend a coworker asked if I was coming back to work after the baby was born. I told her yes, probably at the end of December or beginning of January. She then asked who would be watching my kids... -My husband? (As he's always done.) And he's ok with taking care of all three of them, even a little baby? -Yes... Well, that's just great! Or it's his job as a parent, but sure, I guess it's also great. My husband was the sole care taker for E during the day after I went back to work after she was born since he worked nights and I worked days. I'm not sure why people find it so weird when dads are, ya know, parents.

I’m super jealous too! I’m saving as much of my time as possible for when the baby is born, but I’m feeling SO done with work. Just about 3 more weeks for me too! Also jealous because I need to save time. I'm super over work at this point. +1 trying super hard not to use any time before November.

I don't think I have ever eaten a beet. Don't do it, they taste like dirt.

This morning I realized that I should always shower first thing in the morning - just in case my water breaks. Do not want to go into labor already feeling gross. This is a VERY good plan. Technically you aren't supposed to shower after your water breaks. Mine broke in the middle of the night and I felt SO gross by the time I was finally allowed to shower.

Roasted beets are delicious. Pickled beets are delicious. Beets, in general are delicious. The rest of you are wrong.

I realized yesterday have two days of contractions and back pain I should probably pack my hospital bag. And get out the car seat and base so I at least know where it is. I still don't think I'm having this baby anytime soon but guess I could at least pack some basics.

But I feel like she had a date before then!

Our neighborhood plumbing system leaves everyone with two small black pipes in their front yard. One a water access and one a vent of some sort. We have what appears to be sewage coming out our vent pipe. And our builder's phone is off so we can't ask him to come by and check it for us, or send a plumber, since we're still under warranty. So this is fun.

Why can't you shower if your water breaks? Risk of infection ... but I can't imagine the risk is as high as of taking a bath. Most of what I've found online says to ask your doc. I'm pretty sure I asked the on call doc when I called to say my water broke and she said it was fine.

I wish it was cold here. It’s rainy, but it’s 75 degrees and crazy humid. It’s gross. I just want to open the windows and enjoy it being fall, but no such luck. It’s supposed to be in the 80s again tomorrow and I’m already dreading being at work. I wonder if you are near me. It was 75 and rainy and hot here this morning.

Yea I'm pretty sure there's no risk to having a shower unless you're legit ramming soap all up in your business (in which case you're doing it wrong). I know the MWs let patients go in the shower for pain relief. And also water births are a thing so maybe it's just no baths with soap?

I AM SO JEALOUS. Like, irrationally jealous. My coworkers have decided that they need to cram three months worth of projects/requests for help into the next three weeks and I want to kill them. I’m super jealous too! I’m saving as much of my time as possible for when the baby is born, but I’m feeling SO done with work. Just about 3 more weeks for me too! I'm lucky in that California allows pregnancy disability up to 4 weeks before the due date, and it doesn't count against me afterward. But I know that is rare! My employer usually only allows 2 weeks before but my OB wrote my off early. I'm very thankful.

snuff9861, I know that the water for the water births has to be treated a certain way to prevent bacteria/infections. There was a really sad story not too long ago about a baby that got a bad infection from a water birth and the water wasn't treated properly.

I should note that this will be an extra 2 weeks at 60% pay vs. 100% but soooo worth it.

This morning I realized that I should always shower first thing in the morning - just in case my water breaks. Do not want to go into labor already feeling gross. Um, yes. I can attest to this from experience. When my water broke, I hadn't showered recently enough and I went to bed saying "I will do it first thing tomorrow." Then my water broke at 3 am. But, I was a hot sweaty puking mess throughout labor any way, so those first pics with baby wouldn't exactly have been cute regardless.
