Speaking of thanksgiving, not Canadian, but if I get my act together I’m planning on a roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner. It sounds amazing. All expect the part where I have to prepare it. Costco has ruined me on cooking chicken. Girl! Chicken is so easy! 1 lemon 1/4 cup of butter Couple garlic cloves Salt & pepper Whatever other herbs you want (optional). Preheat oven to 450°, stuff the lemon, butter, garlic & other herbs in the cavity, season with s&p and bake breast up for 60 or so minutes until juices run clear. I put a little olive oil on the bottom of the pan, too, to keep it from sticking, but it turns out so so good. I just made one on Friday as a mini thanksgiving with mashed potatoes & stuffing.

dizzycooks, my closest Costco is 45 minutes one way. It's easier to cook the chicken myself that go buy one unless I'm already there for something else.

katietopaz we took our 2yo to the gender ultrasound at a boutique place. They had toys and she was honestly fascinated watching her "little sister in TV"!

cornpop I'm glad to hear that! I'll pack some extra toys and snacks just in case, and just hope for the best. Man, the fires out here are no joke. I really think that we're going to be fine, but I may start packing up the sentimental stuff that I wouldn't want to lose, in case we do need to evacuate.

We could smell the smoke so badly even in SF today. I hope you guys stay safe!

Ours started this morning and thanks to an extremely windy day, spread very quickly. I think they're still at 0% containment, and keep expanding the evacuation areas. It would have a major highway and a lot of houses to cross before it reached us, but I'm still a little nervous.

Do any of you ladies have a good chili recipe? I normally don't like it so I've never made it before, but I'm currently craving it!

Do any of you ladies have a good chili recipe? I normally don't like it so I've never made it before, but I'm currently craving it! For a simple chili with stuff I almost always have I just eyeball the following ingredients: ground beef onion Soaked kidney beans or can of kidney beans Celery Garlic Chili powder Garlic powder Cumin Salt Pepper Cinnamon or cocoa powder Jar of tomato sauce Can of diced tomatoes or dice fresh Cilantro (thrown in and/or garnish) Red onion (garnish) Sour cream (garnish) Grated cheese (garnish) Sauté celery and onion with some EVOO. Add garlic and beef. Drain once it’s browned and then add seasoning. Add sauce and tomatoes and let simmer. If I soaked the beans I add them earlier on, canned beans I add closer to the end. I taste as it’s simmering and add more seasoning if needed. It’s not fancy but tastes good.

17 weeks, having a ton of sharp cramping in my abdomen today. Mostly lower/left side. Definitely more like a cramp and less like RLP. Normal? Call my OB yay/nay?

Im sure it’s nothing - do you need to poop? Are you hydrated enough? That being said I am VERY VERY VERY pro- cal the OB whenever you are worried. That’s what the nurses line is for. Peace of mind is priceless IMHO. They don’t care if you call!

FFTC: I’m basically hoarding food at this conference. The org is providing a ton of good stuff and everything around here is so so pricey/gross. Anything decent for purchase is either far away or takes forever.... plus any $ saved by eating conference food means I can pocket more of my per diem. So yes, I have a sandwich and cookie son my purse. The guy sitting next to me needs to keep his judge eyes to himself.

I had a dead bird stuck up under my car once and the smell was horrendous. I can’t imagine it in your house. Hopefully you can get someone out there sooner!

In the past week I've started very suddenly projectile vomiting. Today I was in the kitchen trying to make grilled cheese for lunch when I had to sprint to the bathroom to forcefully throw up. When I was done I came back to the kitchen to find my toddler had buttered the place. Thanks kid. My god this sounds awful. I hope the vomiting fucks off very soon.

leatherpants polson Thanks for checking in! The fires have been moving the opposite direction from us, and the last update they were at 25% containment. The winds are much better today which has made a world of difference. Everything is hazy and smells like smoke, even in the house. I'm coughing a lot and my eyes feel like they're burning, but I'm really okay with that when I think of how much worse it could be. Especially compared to how awful the fires in northern CA are.

Glad your safe katietopazArielMermaid I hope the sudden puking goes away!! And polson T&P. Here I'd call the fire dept to see if they could get it out since they have ladders. We're on the local volunteer dept tho.
