So my 2 year old pushed really hard on my belly yesterday (she was pushing off me to get off the sofa) and I definitely googled to see if a 30 lb child could hurt the baby that way - apparently there are a lot of STMs who have had toddlers jump on their belly during pregnancy and asked the same question. The TL:dr summary is apparently there is enough insulation that the baby is well-protected and you only need to worry about things like falls or car accidents. But if in doubt, always good to ask your OB. I'm feeling movement today and no pain so I'm not worried. But I guess I need to protect my belly more around her! Good luck. We've had so many talks about how she can't sit on/jump on/lean on the baby, but it does no good. The baby is fine, but fuck that hurts me!

I have an appointment on Friday with the genetic counselor, an US and the MFM. Luckily DH will still be here bc I'm worried. He leaves on Saturday. This week just stinks all around. ☹️ Good luck on Friday. Did I miss the reason why they want you to have genetic counseling?

Last Friday they did a US to check on my placenta bc it had been low lying and they found that she has an intranasal cyst. My NP did not seem concerned but wanted me to see the MFM just to be on the safe side. When they called for the appointment they said I would have to see the genetic counselor. Im not sure if that's a part of the precaution, but when I saw the MFM before for better heart images I didn't have to see the genetic counselor. I don't know what to think, but I'm worried!

I just spoke to my principal about my maternity leave and the type of lessons i should leave and she said "we can't actually require subs to teach." So basically I'm supposed to leave pages numbers and questions from the book.
Luckily that's probably only going to be for the first three weeks because the same guy who did my maternity leave last year will be taking over after that and he is just getting certified so it behooves him to do well so he can get a great recommendation from my principal.

I saw your update about the cyst but I didn't realize they wanted you to see a genetic counselor as well. Honestly, try not to be worried. When we had ours it was just a bunch of questions about our family history. I'm sure it's just a precaution and routine.

Yikes! I'm sorta in the same boat because to long term sub in my district you have to be certified or have the highly qualified criteria. We are looking at using a retired teacher from the next district over for me. I will probably leave a few days plans to help get her on her feet but after that she will be on her own.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts ladies...I want Friday to get here so I have some answers, but I also don't bc it means DH will be leaving! Pregnancy hormones are not helping me this week. I appreciate the good vibes though! ❤️

Oh my god, aren't you out for like 4 months? How the heck can you do plans for that whole time? I get twitchy when I have to do plans for more than 2 days because it really is hard to plan that far in advance. Do you have some coworkers that can help your sub?

I'm going to do the first three weeks now, then talk to the guy who is going to come in after that and see what he's interested in. I've taught the same thing for years now so I'm just going to adapt what I've already done a bit. I'm also going to label it day 1, day 2, etc, that way if a day gets off course it's easy to follow. It's far from ideal, but it's the system I have to work from.

Last time, they didn't pick well though and they had to fire the guy for telling a kid to "get his fat ass out of the room."

However, the more I start to get ready, the more I think it's going to be okay, because they are getting a guy who is just finishing his student teaching to take over in mid December so it's only three or so weeks that will be a shit show. Not ideal, but better than the whole time. He was in for me last year and did well, so it should be fine.

Thanks for thinking of me! Baby has a cavum vergae which is basically a cyst in her brain. When not accompanied with anything else (extra fluid or swelling in baby's brain) it is completely benign, just a really rare anomaly. She wasn't concerned and doesn't need to follow up.

Thank you all! DH left for his deployment Saturday. I really don’t think I would’ve been able to handle bad news on top of that. I appreciate all the positive thoughts! ❤️
