How far along are you?: 28w3d How big is baby?: Cauliflower (WTE) / Rollerblade (Ovia) Any upcoming appointments this week?: Next week Any new symptoms or changes?: Nothing much (aside from the rant below). Yesterday he kicked me in time with the Law & Order SVU theme song, so that made me proud Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: (TMI warning) So I need to rant about these iron supplements. Quick backstory - when we were TTC, the One-A-Day Womens Prenatal I take during the week made me sick on the weekends from the iron (I don't eat as regularly on the weekends), so I started taking gummy vitamins on the weekends only. I still take OADW during the week, which has 156% of daily needed iron. The week leading up to my 24w appointment, we were on vacation and I only brought my gummies, so I wasn't surprised when they said my iron was low and to start taking Vitron-C daily. I was fine for a few days but then everything started going badly - I took it a lunch with my other vitamins (the prenatal and a D supplement), and would feel full/nauseous for at least 7-8 hours. I didn't want to eat, didn't want to drink because I felt like putting anything in my system would make me vomit. The aftertaste made me feel like I was burping up burnt rubber for hours. The constipation caused rectal bleeding. And it made my reflux almost unbearable. I stopped taking them a few days before last week's appointment and felt better (the worst of the symptoms were gone by 48 hours after the last supplement). I discussed all this with my doctor and she said apparently my iron levels were borderline, 33.4 when they want a 35. She suggested taking the iron at night (apparently you shouldn't take it with your prenatal since it affects absorption, nobody told me that), and try every other day. I took it with dinner on Saturday night. The fullness/nausea was back within 2 hours, and everything else came back the next day. I am still feeling sick this morning. I don't think I ate nearly enough calories yesterday because I felt so full/nauseous. The reflux kept me up all night, and I had to force myself to eat cereal for breakfast this morning (we're talking Cheerios and fat free milk). The thought of eating lunch soon, which I need to do to take my prenatal, is bringing me to the point of tears because I just feel so ill. And taking another supplement tonight? DNW. Part of me wants to give it a few more days to see if my body evens itself out, but part of me wants to call the doctor. (Who will probably tell me to give it a few more days and see what happens.) I'm going to pick up Colace and Zantac today, but I don't know how that's going to help the not wanting to eat and drink anything, which I feel like could cause more harm to the baby than being slightly low on my iron. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush?: Hard to pick just one. Right now I'm on the bandwagons for Chris Evans, Oscar Isaac, and Diego Luna. Post-college I was crazy in love with Josh Groban for a long time (I still adore him, but the crush has lessened over the years).

Oh man, cakewench, I'm so sorry that the iron's messing with you so badly! Is there a way to take a smaller dose? Half a pill? I've also been directed to start taking iron 3x/week and based on everyone's experiences I was planning to start by cutting the dose in half. How far along are you?: 30 weeks. Holy crap. How big is baby?: Half a cheesecake?? ...OK Any upcoming appointments this week?: Had one this morning, got my Tdap. Another ultrasound in 2 weeks. Any new symptoms or changes?:
Sciatica has hit with a vengeance. I had a sciatica flare-up a few years ago, and so I recognized the pain coming on the last few days and have been freaking out. (Confession: last time I had it, I actually took a couple of my husband's leftover pain meds from his appendectomy, the pain was so bad at times. Obviously I am NOT doing that now). Last night I woke up and the shooting pain in my left butt cheek was so bad, I needed my husband to help me out of bed to pee. Walking, sitting, laying down are all fine - it's only when changing positions that the pain radiates. Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: This 90 degree weather has got. to. go. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush?
It always changes, but lately Jamie Dornan (crush developed from The Fall, NOT 50 Shades)

cakewench, I'd probably skip the iron if it's making you feel that badly. I have had a lot of constipation w/ bleeding and I was super afraid it would come back with the iron. Honestly I don't feel great, but I'm taking prilosec daily and colace nightly. I've had to take Zofran a couple of time and I'm still throwing up a meal about once a week. Ain't pregnancy fuckin' magical. typo31, if it gets terrible there are pain relief options for you. I know my OB told me hydrocodone is safe for once awhile use and I know some of the PAIF ladies had to get shots to deal. How far along are you?: 30,4 How big is baby?: A football Any upcoming appointments this week?: regular OB, TDAP Any new symptoms or changes?: Just exhausted. But, I can't really blame the pregnancy. I blame the toddler who won't sleep in her own room. Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: I'm with typo31, I can't take the heat either. I'm miserable, non of my summer clothes were meant for 3rd tri and I can't be outside with my toddler without fear of passing out. Ugggghhhh. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? Tom Hardy for life.

How far along are you?: 30 w 4 d
How big is baby?: A large cabbage
Any upcoming appointments this week?: had a check up last week, just routine measurements and a TDAP.
Any new symptoms or changes?: Not really, heartburn kicked up another notch, so I switched from Zantac 75 to 150 (per doctor’s recommendation). I think next step is Pepcid?
Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: Nothing pregnancy-specific. The state of the world in general has me feeling pretty anxious.
GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? This one is tough because I am so fickle in my crushes. I had a pretty long running thing for Matthew Fox during his Lost days, though.

How far along are you?: 29w 3d How big is baby?: Butternut squash Any upcoming appointments this week?: Diabetes education visit tomorrow. Here's hoping they're like my old office and DGAF about my diet as long as my numbers are on track. Because I really don't want to hear it right now about how I should be eating more diverse and healthful foods that non-stop cheeseburgers. Any new symptoms or changes?: Heartburn is terrible and peeing all night err night is back. Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: I'm with you, BlahBlahGinger, I think the hormones are causing an uptick in my anxiety, as is just reading the news. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? Joshua Jackson. I've had a thing for him since I was a pre-teen watching The Mighty Ducks, fell in love with Pacey, and MY did he age well.

How far along are you?: 27w tomorrow! How big is baby?: I think they're over 2lbs each now and over 14 inches long. I have a growth scan next Wednesday so I'll have a more accurate estimate then. Any upcoming appointments this week?: Nothing this week expect my weekly preterm labor prevention phone call. Basically it's just "Having any contractions or signs of labor?" "Nope!" Any new symptoms or changes?: I have no stamina anymore. I know they had recommended limited activity and I thought it was silly. But it's pretty much inevitable now. Shopping trips and housework are exhausting. I start to feel sick and out of breathe if I'm on my feet too long. This twin pregnancy is so much harder in comparison to my pregnancy with my daughter! Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: I keep typing out a rant about this person at work who's being a PITA about me needing desk coverage while I'm on leave and then my rant just gets too complicated and long. High level, she's being a jerk and stressing me out and she's probably not even going to have to provide any coverage for my desk so I wish she'd back off and stop trying to make me feel bad about it! She's going to be a back up on ONE quarterly process while I'm out. It was management's decision not to have an intern or contractor cover my desk while I'm out anyways so they've split up my responsibilities between 4 people, plus this person who will provide back up for her coworker on that one process. I've happily covered for people who have been on leave before. I've taken on additional work when they've decided not to re-fill a vacant position before. Sure it kind of sucks but it's also something that looks good in your review meetings and can help you get a better ranking for the year. And again it was management's decision, not mine! Anyways I'm training her today so hopefully it will be quick and pain-free and she'll check her negative attitude at the door. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? Justin Timberlake, always and forever

cakewench, I agree with others and just skip the iron. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the iron is for you and not the baby. I would just try to add some more iron rich foods to my diet. The iron tablets would help with fatigue and dizziness, but your levels are so close to the "normal" level I would just give them up. With N, I was supposed to take them 3x a day. There was no way that was going to happen, so I took them twice a day instead and I ended up being fine. I don't want to go against your doctor or anything, but it sounds like you are close enough that you could cut back without too many ramifications.

Good luck tomorrow officedronette , Sorry about the coworker belle0720,. Some people are just pains in the butt. lol. It certainly doesn't help stress levels. I have a coworker who was completely unsupportive with my pumping last time. I am really worried about her again this time.

cakewench I'm sorry about the iron woes! My iron numbers are low too. I've been taking my prenatal with 150% iron plus twice a day iron supplements and my numbers are still a bit low. I have no idea if they have contributed to me not feeling well a lot of the time. I've been popping lots of Pepcid to fight the heartburn and reflux. And my doctor just recommended to take the supplements with orange juice to help with absorption. Orange juice while having reflux sounds awful, but I'm planning to grab some when we go to the grocery store this week. Hope that you can figure out a balance that doesn't leave you feeling so ill!

BlahBlahGinger, officedronette, oh yeah the anxiety/guilt is strong with this one too. My hormones are making me feel useless, powerless etc. Today is particularly bad. I hate to think of what I would be like if I wasn't still taking Zoloft.

sarahandben108 Oh hell no, do not want anyone else's opinion about me pumping. I pumped twice a day for almost 6 months when I went back to work after my daughter was born and would be livid if someone tried to stop me from doing it! As long as I'm getting my work done, it's none of anyone else's business.

My coworker told me I was "taking advantage" of another coworker because she watched my class during a pumping break everyday. She made other comments when I left staff workshops to pump or when I was late to meetings because I was pumping. It was bad enough that I complained to my principal and wrote her an email that basically said I'm pumping, it's my legal right, get over it. She apologized but it was definitely a backhanded non-apology. I have to work with her again this time around and I'm a little worried she's going to spew the same crap again. She admits that she stopped breastfeeding after 3 months so pumping wasn't an issue for her. I pumped for 14 months and I worked damn hard at it.

How big is baby?: cauliflower I guess
Any upcoming appointments this week?: glucose test and US wed!!!!
Any new symptoms or changes?: lower back pains. I got a prenatal massage yesterday and the little old Asian lady was really working my lower back. It felt great but was a little awkward as she is pulling my underwear down further to get right at the base of my spine. Ha
I'm also much more sore and tired in general this time
Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: I'm freaking out. This baby is probably coming in 10 weeks. That is 10 weekends to get any projects done before baby!! 😳😳😳

So I just finished training that girl on the stuff she'll be the back up for, for the person who's actually covering that process. She was completely nice the whole time. Until the end when we were talking about her boss who is also pregnant and due in December and she talked about how much bigger my belly is than hers. Well yeah I'm having two babies and she's having one so it makes sense, thank you for pointing it out. She's also a first time mom and may not get bigger till later. Plus we're different people. I wasn't this big at this gestation when I was pregnant with my daughter either.

cakewench - can you try a different kind? I’ve been on the phone a lot about my meds and they said they could write me a different prescription for iron if needed. How far along are you?: 30+3 How big is baby?: a cantaloupe. Any upcoming appointments this week?: I go Friday to fill out the paperwork so I don’t have to do it while in labor then hospital tour. They normally do hospital tours at an event called “BabyPalooza” which just sounds icky to me so I’m going speshulsneauflake. Any new symptoms or changes?: last week one of my meds (I’ve added iron and an acid reflux prescription) gave me the poops so I’ve been doing the process of elimination (haha) to figure out which one. Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: my 3 year old niece asked me if I have two babies in my belly yesterday. But then she told me my belly is still smaller than papaws. GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? Not all time but right now it’s Brett Eldridge. Growing up I loved Nick Carter, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Mark from Blink 182.

How big is baby?: a camping lantern
Any upcoming appointments this week?: yes! I have my first biophysical profile this week.
Any new symptoms or changes?: tired and feeling huge.
Rants/Raves/AW/Questions?: I really just want to be done with work. My hope is to get written off at Thanksgiving. We'll see.
GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? All time biggest? That's tough. Currently I like Chris Pratt, but it changes.

How far along are you? 29w
How big is baby? A Fougasse (a French focaccia) or a pineapple 🍍 Any upcoming appointments this week? Yes Friday I have an Ultrasound to see if my placenta has moved and an OB appointment right afterwards!
Any new symptoms or changes? Add me to the low iron club. Also acid reflux is here! Started taking the supplements this week but I can only take 1 dose instead of the 2 the prescribed bc I can't take it in the morning with my thyroid meds or at night with my prenatal. That leaves midday. I'm really hoping I don't get constipated!
Rants/raves/AW/Questions? I've definitely been MIA bc DH is back from training. DD and I flew back to TX to spend a few weeks with him. Although that has turned into DD and I sitting at home bc he's so busy with predeployment stuff at work. The 3 of us are flying back home this Thursday to spend a week together before he deploys. I have been very emotional lately to say the least...
GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? When I was younger definitely Joshua Jackson. Now I love Chris Pratt.

Lurking from Jan 2018, but you ladies need to try a liquid iron supplement. So much easier on the stomach than pills. I have anemia every pregnancy and it's the only thing that works without making me nauseous and constipated. Just search liquid iron on Amazon, and you'll get several options. Also yes, the iron is mostly for you, since baby takes so much of it. But it can make a big difference in baby's ability to tolerate labor (it's harder for your LO to get all the oxygen they need from you in labor if you're anemic), could impact how well you recover after birth (you lose some blood during the birth process, so could put you at risk of needing a blood transfusion or just plain ol' feeling shitty if you're already anemic to begin with), and can contribute to iron deficiency for your LO later on if you're breastfeeding. So, y'know, lots of good reasons to find something that works for you!

How big is baby? A bunch of bananas Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope
Any new symptoms or changes? After feeling a ton of kicks and movement for a couple of days, I've been feeling less these last 2-3 days, which obviously makes me super anxious. I know I'm being stupid and I definitely did feel movement at several intervals every day, especially after dinner, and absolutely get more than 10 movements over 2 hours but I can't help freaking out when I don't feel a "response" quick enough after lunch for example. I was in tears about it yesterday.
Rants/raves/AW/Questions? See above.
GTKY: Who is your all-time biggest celebrity crush? I'll show my age and say my teenager crush was Johnny Depp. It's a firm no thank you now though. Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman still have it going on. I also really like James McAvoy.
