tallb I didn't realize you live in Bethesda. My SIL lives there and is an assistant principal at one of the school districts there. She has the same problem. She lives in a 1 bedroom apartment which is pretty much comparable to my mortgage.

waitwhat oh cool! What age group is she? I'm over here in full panic mode trying to pick a school zone. Generally schools are great, but I feel like it's the biggest decision right now. Is she cool? I need friends, jk! Rent here can be nutty, but we are in some old garden apartment that are fine.,and relatively cheap thankfully. But I still am screwed with the HCOL for childcare, n's infant care is the same as our rent 😫

@jubilqntsquirrel I have heard Seattle real estate is bonkers! My cousin is a PA and rents a teeny place. You get desensitized to prices, it's depressing.
We're hoping to go to Washington next September - we did Oregon when j was 22 months and it was such a great age, but we couldn't get North. I want to do the Seattle, Vancouver, and up into the mountains. Oh and Bainbridge since my cousin lives there.. basically I need a month out there.

We got so lucky when we were renting in the city (2008-2010) and found a 1 bed 650 sqft apartment in an 1920 brick building with a view of the Space Needle and downtown for $880 a month including utilities. A few years after we moved out a property management place bought the building and I found our old apartment online being rented for $1800. If you make it out here let me know!
