LOL! In my defense Redfin isn't in your city.

Also starbuck, I did have an Atlanta house at one point, but it sold so it's not on my list anymore. Clearly I need to find another one.

How is the one in Houston only $385k?! That house is over 4,000 square feet! Because it's outside of Beltway 8. The further you move out, the more house you get. But, Texas does have cheaper houses. You'd probably get a huge pay cut by moving here, too though.

I remember looking at Houston houses but I couldn't remember if I saved any. I did, and it is of course has a pool! Would I be moving near you? It's about an hour from where I live. Houston is huge.

jubilantsquirrel I would move into all of those houses. I'm crushing particularly hard on that purple front door in Detroit.

I stopped looking after I saw the separate wine fridge area in the Roughton. Need that.

Those are nice, but damn! I can't afford any of the new builds in my town either. They're all mid 500s up into the 700s, and I'm 40 minutes (without traffic) outside of Seattle.

When MH bought our house it was $180k. It was built in the 50s and had only been updated once and that was with Formica counter tops and ugly tile. lol. We've re-done the kitchen and both bathrooms. Right now, we could probably sell it for $350-375.

With the flooding in my area those prices might drop though.

I was looking at houses in Louisville KY once and I was shocked at the estimated monthly payment Redfin kept giving me. I know it varies depending on property tax, and it's just an estimate, but usually houses around the 350k range are $1,600-$1,800 a month, but the ones in Louisville were like $3,000. I looked and it had the HOAs at nearly $1,200 a month! It's possible that's not accurate, but it was like that for several houses.
Let me see if I can find one. I was shocked.

We looked at a few places close to downtown ATL, like condos and townhomes, and the HOAs were well above the mortgage. I totally believe the $1,200.

We bought it for $185k and a house a few doors that's the same size as ours sold for $372 last month. The house behind us just sold this week for $346 and it's smaller than ours with less yard. Our exact house on a busy street is currently pending, I'm interested to see how much it sells for.

I'm sure there's a community pool and club house and what not in these neighborhoods, but $1200 a month for the HOA is insane to me. We pay $5 a month and it just covers our little mail box clusters and the neighborhood park.

We still purchased in city limits but ended up paying $274 for landscaping, two pools, playground, greenspace, dog run, EV charging stations...it was crazy what difference like 5 miles west made.

I also can't afford the new houses in our area. Seriously what do these people do for a living? On second thought, prob not marry a firefighter 😕
My next husband will be rich!

Just a few miles really can make all the difference! I would pay $274 for all that. I've watched episodes of House Hunters and sometimes the condo building have super high HOAs but then don't really even come with any amenities.
