We don't have a part partum appointment template, so I'm just going to fill you all in.
I met with the cardiologist today. We talked about my BP and what we'll do moving forward with my meds. He's prescribing me a different long lasting med and taking me off the procardia. Eventually we'll wean me off the labetelol, and I should only need the one pill a day of the new meds. I go back to see him in a month.
Incision check with my OB went well. Everything looks good no infections at the incision or anything. I have to go back in a week for another check. Going to be able to pop in on my MFM at that time so she can meet DS. She was out of town at a wedding when I delivered, so she didn't get to meet him.

duskymonkey How scary and I'm so mad for you. Not to go into triggery details, but this is a rough week for a friend of a friend thanks to a 17 year old jackass who was texting while driving on the highway. I hate when people don't take driving seriously. chitownsully well fuck that guy. I hope you don't have to deal with him anymore. I'd probably even request that I don't with the practice. I'm really worried he'll be the on call when I deliver, because that would be my luck. That crossed my mind. Bleh. My OB's office partners with another office and there's a chance that someone I've never met will be on call. That would be weird.

If that's the case, I would ask if there was literally anyone else to do your delivery (some places have two doctors/midwives on call). If he's your only option, I'd tell him upfront that you only want to hear clinical information about your progression and birth, no chit chat or comments on anything that isn't directly affecting your delivery.

Rama ☹️ Glad to hear all is checking out well with you. Is a SCH causing your bleeding? That stinks and totally messes with your mind. Big hugs. Congrats... you're almost to 2nd tri. Very happy for you! When they checked, they didn't see anything like an SCH. So far, we've chalked it up to an irritated cervix. Though someone posited that the clot I passed could have previously been a SCH, so maybe I did and we just never saw it? I'm so done with first tri. Thanks for the cheers! <3 That actually makes a lot of sense, that it could've been a SCH. You've heard me say this before but I passed tons of clots w DS1 and was told it wasn't a SCH. It was a mystery until I was told it was placenta placement related but it's was never totally firm. You of all people should not be dealing with any spotting/bleeding. None. I've had it both ways and the spotting/bleeding is the absolute worst. I'd rather puke multiple times a day. DS1 was a dream sleep through the nighter since 3 weeks old and I'm convinced it was my reward for the 27 weeks of on and off bleeding! Good things are in store.

I told him I just wanted this appointment to be over so I could go home. My L&D nurse SIL says she's convinced men that become OBs either absolutely love women and provide kind protective care or get into because the have unresolved women issues and like the power position. There's rarely anything in between. Women can be bad doctors too of course but I think she's onto something.

I asked (I ask a lot of questions, whoops) about placenta placement at the ER and was told I have a fundal placenta, so I don't think it's a placenta thing since those are usually from previa placentas? Or maybe I'm just talking all the shit. But, yes, it would be nice to stop bleeding. It's the worst. I, too, would take all the puking over this bleeding. At least with puking, I'd find reassurance in the action? I'm glad your DS was a unicorn baby! Fx your second is, too! (And, I mean, if I get one, I won't complain or anything, but I just want them here either way. )

Ooh, long thread! I started to do this on my phone earlier and then got called in, let's try again and then I can catch up. How far along are you? 39+2, eek! It's the fiiiiinal countdooooown... Any concerns? How are you feeling? Tired, sore, crampy, pretty much over it at this point. What kind of appointment? OB+NST yesterday, growth scan today How did it go? Pretty well, I think. No drama with the NST, everything looked good. She did a cervical check, it hurt way more than last week and I was super sore for the rest of the day because of it. Last time I was 1-2 and this time 2, so in spite of not having anything that I'd really identify as a contraction, all the cramping/pressure I've been having is clearly doing something. Growth scan today was good, baby is measuring ~9 pounds. DD1 was 8 and change, so I'm not TOO freaked out, but everyone keeps making a big deal about this baby's size so IDK. Learn anything new? The ultrasound tech told me the baby has a lot of hair on her head! Just like her sister did Next appointment: Last OB appointment on Sat, induction on Monday. Assuming, y'know, that I don't go into labour before then. Cue Jeopardy music...

Maaaaaan, fuck that guy chitownsully. Who says that, period -- especially at a moment like that?!? Super unprofessional, especially given that you'd never met him before. UGH. Weight is a major trigger for me too, so I probably would have had a similar reaction. I'm glad YH was there! I know it's way easier said than done, but if your main doc has never brought it up as a concern then I'd hang on to that. Women gain weight during pregnancy! I just... have very strong feels about someone seeing you for the first time EVER and then making such an asshole comment. Not that the way he said it would be okay otherwise, but if it was an ongoing discussion between you and your OB then at least that part would be different. Sorry, I'm rambling. That bit aside, I can also relate when you say "it wasn't nearly this bad last time and I'm struggling to deal", I'm the same way: everything is harder this time around, plus juggling this pregnancy and a toddler is super stressful. Bah.

I am pregnant check-in
How far along are you? 37w2d
Any concerns? How are you feeling? No real concerns, normal third tri uncomfortableness
What kind of appointment? Regular OB with another impromptu quick ultrasound
How did it go? It went well. Right at the beginning of the appt my Dr suggested doing another quick u/s to check the fluids. Everything is looking great. I'm hoping I get an u/s every week now.
Any feels/vents/etc? Poor DH. He was wanting to come, but had a work appt scheduled at the same time. I told him it should be just a quick, routine appt. Then lo and behold I got an u/s. Now watch he'll come next week and we won't do a scan.
Learn anything new? My GBS came back negative. I'll also get a cervical check next week.
Next appointment: Next Friday

I am pregnant check-in
How far along are you? 34+5
Any concerns? How are you feeling? I feel huge... uncomfortable... hurts to walk, sit, etc
What kind of appointment? Regular OB appt and then I had an appt with my pcp where I was supposed to get my tdap
How did it go? OB went great, HB is strong and they said my weight & BP were great. PCP was frustrating, I booked the appt to get my tdap since my OB office doesn't/can't give them. Well I get there and my pcp won't give it because she says it's not recommended during pregnancy and she won't take the risk... cue tears of frustration. I leave and call my OB to confirm I need it and then get it done at Walgreens.
Any feels/vents/etc? See above for rants... suffice to say I'll be looking for a new pcp. I can't believe I'll be 35w on Friday and sequel could be here in a month or less (please be less )
Learn anything new? Nope... my fundal height was a few days ahead but the NP said it was normal.
Next appointment: Growth u/s and OB appt on 10/4

chitownsully that doctor is an asshat. Sorry it was crappy appointment. You'd think healthcare providers would be a bit more empathetic and understanding, especially at this stage in the game.

I am pregnant check-in
How far along are you? 35 + 6
Any concerns? Not really (for once! 😅😅). Just wanted to make sure baby was obedient and stayed head down - which he did!
What kind of appointment? MFM check up - scan, cervical measurement, GB swab, and NST
How did it go? Really well! Baby did awesome for the NST - passed that sucker in 30 min. 😀 Cervix is measuring 2.3cm...so it's getting shorter, which is good at this point I think! Also - the doctor took me off of progesterone suppositories. Yayyyyyy!!!! I have hated having to take those since 10 weeks...all the leaking and hassle of having to deal with inserting them twice a day....yuck. So happy that is now history! Finally, the cord isn't wrapped around the baby's neck anymore, which is another relief.
Any feels/vents/etc? Not really. The SPD pain is no joke...it is so, so painful to walk or get up. But I am just happy I've almost made it to my final goal (full term - 37 weeks), so I am just keeping my focus on that and reminding myself to be thankful we have gotten to this point.
Learn anything new? Nope. All is good!
Next appointment: One week from today - another NST, ultrasound, and cervical check.

How far along are you? 36w 2d
Any concerns? How are you feeling? no concerns, feeling tired, some heartburn at night
What kind of appointment? GBS, cervical check, u/s
How did it go? pretty good. about 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced
Any feels/vents/etc? No, I wanted to get another u/s picture but since baby is in position to go, the back of her head was to the camera.
Learn anything new? approx. 6 lb baby!
Next appointment: next Wednesday. NP said Dr. may want another u/s for better pictures. I'm ok with that.

I am pregnant check-in
How far along are you? 36w 3d
Any concerns? How are you feeling? Normal 3rd tri stuff, but extra stress because my grandfather was admitted to the hospital this morning.
What kind of appointment? "Pants off" midwife appointment (what they call it lol) for GBS swab and cervical check.
How did it go? It went well! Vitals all good. My cervical check was "still very long but 1cm dilated". Baby is head down too. I brought up my episode of blurred vision and the midwife believed it was caused by the shower I took immediately prior lowering my BP.
Any feels/vents/etc? Starting to sink in that it's almost go-time when the midwife was telling me about what to do when I go into labor, and that if it happens from this point forward they won't try to stop it.
Next appointment: Sept 28th for 37w midwife checkup

codex320 and bootsorhearts1, thank you! My mom sent an update saying that his BP dropped too low this morning (he's had low BP issues for a while) so he went to the hospital. They are evaluating him for a pacemaker. He's stable right now though, from the last update I've heard.

chitownsully, big hugs! FWIW, you look amazing in all your HDBD pics. Weight are just numbers and screw the OB. Here's an early UO, but I don't get male OBs and that makes me sound sexist but how does a male ob understand what you're going through when they don't have the same equipment as us. Also male OBS creep me out. I will say this. No, he isn't my primary ob. But there are a few in my practice. The one I have seen was actually quite compassionate. He wasn't as proactive as I liked. But he was patient and considerate. I think more so because he realized that he has no clue about what we actually think or feel or experience. And here since I've been at the hospital, I've had several male ob. One of them had been doing this for forever. He was quite proactive and the one really pushing my delivery rather than waiting. He even went so far as to talk to my primary ob about the situation to see what her perspective was because she does know me better. The other one I primarily saw was patient and let me ask all the questions I wanted and was great. There seem to be more male ob in the high risk department of my practice than in the regular part. Both of the two here at the hospital are here full time as part of the high risk team. I only liked one of the female high risk doctors. I didn't care at all for one of them. She made me and my nurse quite mad. And almost made my other nurse mad too, if what she suggested hadn't actually worked, she was going to go over her head and call the primary high risk ob (the one doing it forever) because I was in too much danger to keep playing around with medicines rather than immediately stopping my bp rising and seizure risk.

I am pregnant check-in
How far along are you? 36 weeks 1 day
Any concerns? How are you feeling? The usual constant soreness and pain in my hips and this kid thinks kicking my ribs is an Olympic event. Other than that, not bad.
What kind of appointment? Just a regular check up.
How did it go? Fine. I'm GBS+, she said she might be concerned about my weight gain, but apparently i need it because she doesn't see any extra fat anywhere.
Any feels/vents/etc? She helped me feel baby's head, which was kind of nice. Made me feel all the feelz.
Learn anything new? Just the GBS+. I wasn't last time and got to the hospital at a 7. How long do they need to get both doses of antibiotics in?
Next appointment: next Friday.

trinitrotoluene Bummer on being GBS+. I was with DS, but not this time (thank goodness). I want to say it was something like 4 hours...but I could be wrong. I just remember that I arrived at the hospital at a 3, and progressed to a 4 within an hour, but they wouldn't admit me before then.

trinitrotoluene sorry about being GBS+. I think I've read if that's the case they want you at the hospital sooner rather than later so they can get those doses in.
