So far into New England I can see Canada. Leaf peeping? Are you going to get cider donuts?

I'm sorry you're struggling. Is there a possibility for your DH to get a better paying job to take some of the burden off of you? He's been trying but no luck so far. I'm sorry. I hope he comes across something soon.

This is random but I heard Toys R Us was going to file for bankruptcy. Already did, last night. The article I read said they are going to continue operations as usual for now.

Normally we would do the maize maze, cider donut, pumpkin picking thing. But they're having the conference in a new town and there is NOTHING open. Even in the hotel. I feel like I'm in The Shining because we're walking around an empty hotel.

Yeah, I didn't think it would put them completely out of business. It's just so weird being that they used to be the go to toy store, you know? Amazon is killing them.

It's insane. When people on the board say they live in the middle of nowhere and they can't get pizza, I kind of laugh. I understand. This is the middle of nowhere. The closest anything is 50 miles away. And I'm considering driving 50 miles.

I'll be bummed if they do eventually close the stores.

Morning! Life has been hectic and I'm feeling run down. Maybe it's just bc L has been super clingy lately and new baby, but I hate being away from my kids this long every day. Anyone have experience going from full time to part time work or sah when they were the breadwinner? For real. Going to catch up on yesterday since i never got back on. I'm sorry your having a hard time. I have no advice, but now that I'm back to work, I do miss my part time schedule. I do miss the kids, but more so for time to get things done. That extra time at home would help out so much now. Finding time to do day to day things around the house is so hard and it makes me feel terrible that my house seems a wreck 24/7.

Thanks guys. If it was just 20 bucks or whatever I would just buy him a toy now. But it's a hundred. I only spend about 200 on each boy for christmas so thats half my budget for him.

My girlfriends who have btdt say that once the kids start school full-time that they find they are even busier with tight afternoon schedules and afterschool activities. Maybe it's worth it to plan for part time at that point so you have time to dedicate to starting your own business plus being there in the afternoons to hang out with the kids and help with homework and activities. This is my fear. Most schools offer after care, but I'm a little nervous about how it will all play out. I suspect a 3-6:30 nanny will eventually happen for us.

MH is working (aka golfing) today and I'm alone in this hotel with the kids. Literally alone because it's off-season and no one is here and everything is closed. I have no clue what I'm going to do with them today. We went to a hotel like this when we visited Alaska. Apparently we're the only ones who go there in September. It's packed during ski season but otherwise practically abandoned. Super weird being in a massive hotel in the mountains with nobody there. Reminded me of The Shining. Good luck with the boys today. Are you still thrilled with the SNOO?l ETA: I just saw your later comment about it being like The Shining LOL. Yep. Such a strange feeling.

This girl on Facebook just posted asking if people thought t was acceptable to send a kid to bed without dinner (her ex did, they have a super messy divorce, she lost custody, and now she airs their dirty launderer all over Facebook... but that's a different story). Anyway, lots of different responses as you can imagine, which is fine. Then this girl jumps in saying how could you ever feed your PRECIOUS child something they don't like? Or make them go hungry! She cooks separate meals for her children because they are INDIVIDUALS who may not like what mom and dad like and should never be forced to. Then she suggested calling cps. 🙄🙄 Well, she sounds special. Bitch needs to come hang out at my house and I'll show her why I don't cook separate meals for my kid. It's called time! Yeah, CPS is way excessive. I can't send the kids to bed knowing they haven't eaten but that's because I'm too soft. If they're trying to teach the kids they need to eat what's served (a lesson mine need to learn) then I get it. I wouldn't be thrilled with my ex doing this though. Not sure how I would approach it.

For me, it would depend what was offered. I tell the boys they can eat what I made or have some fruit or a PB&J. But I always make sure there's something they will like if they just try it. If the dinner is spicy I make a non spicy version. But if they don't eat a decent amount then no snacks later.

I came back after having B part time, and it was supposed to be for 2 months. That was in January and I'm still part time. I love it - it's the best of both worlds. But I have a lot of flexibility in my job. And I do tend to work a bit on my home days. But it's still good

Yeah it's pretty much like you can have a banana, apple, toast, etc. But no to "I don't want this so you have to make me spaghetti" or something like that. Of course kids are individuals, but so am I. My time and energy matters too. That lady needs to get off the cross. Nobody likes a martyr.
