If Cadence's party is Nov 19th and I asked for people to rsvp by Nov 10th, is today too early to hand out the invitations? Col's is the same date and I handed out the invites earlier this week. It's right before Thanksgiving plus there's a party (or 2!) every weekend, so I wanted to give plenty of notice. I've already gotten a handful of RSVPs. Actually most of his friends provided about a month's notice, except for this Sunday's party. The invite appeared on Monday.

Hmm just got the invite for the double party. It's 11-1 and 35 minutes away. The kicker is that it's a magician that has come to his school that j LOVED. So I may consider taking him. Otherwise I'd totally skip it. I'm tired already thinking about this day.

klong11 one of my brothers employees does it as a side business. She might have an Instagram account that shows the cookies. If I can find it I’ll text you.

The other one was in our neighborhood (and ours was at our house) so it was convenient at least. C was a disaster by the end of the night. We were at the other party like 12-3:30 and his was 4-9:30ish though, so long day.

I am just salty.

Those doing parties at your house, are you planning any activities? I'm regretting not having this party at a place. It's going to be small- 5 three-four year olds, 1 two year old, 4 one year olds. Alligator themed which isn't super easy to work with. I had planned on the favors being wooden alligators, a set of paints and a paint brush. We have an alligator ring toss game that's kinda lame. Other than that, I got nothing...

Nothing is more fun than playing with someone else's toys. You can have options like a lego area, maybe put out crayons and color sheets, etc. If the weather is nice and they can go outside, put some outside toys.

Ours is Saturday as well I think you and klong11 are right. We've been to house parties and the kids are super content just playing with the toys and running wild. We've just been to a few parties recently that had so much fun stuff going on that I started second guessing myself!

We just let them all loose in the playroom, then served pizza and cake. It was fine, and they had a blast. It was not really themed, except we had a paw patrol cake and I got paw patrol balloons and masks for the kids. I sort of prefer those parties. Let the kids just have fun with each other. I would do it this year, except it's cold and our house isn't big enough to invite all the kids he wanted without the use of our backyard.

I don't want to spend the whole party wrangling kids to sit for activities, I think they have more fun when they can just play!

wineallthetime Pinterest is your best friend, type in ‘alligator birthday party’ and you’ll get tons of ideas! Plus I also agree with others are saying, you can just put some toys out.

I have a ques for ppl doing their party not at home.... do you mind me asking how much you’re spending all in? We did at an home party last year and it cost me about $300 total (a large chunk of that being for the princess that came). Anyhow, I’m surprised at how much this is costing me. I don’t want to be setting some precedent and feeling like I’m throwing them a sweet 16 style party each year.

Sorry, I hope this wasn’t tacky for me to ask. I’m just feeling a little taken aback. And am feeling like I don’t need to be going quite so wild for a 2 and 4 yo bday party. And I don’t even think its anything OTT. We’re doing the trampoline place. It’s pizza and cupcakes for food.

I spent $100 on the cake for C's bday. That was my only expense because my mom hosted and bought the food and décor. If we went to a place it would have been about $350 for 20 kids and a bounce house with pizza.

I tend to go a little overboard, especially when it comes to food and decorations.

At what point do I stress that no one is going to come? She has 3 friends coming so far and the rest is family. Granted, she says "oh good, my best friends are coming" so she is happy as a clam, but I'm stewing with wtfs even though I just passed out the invites. I'm an immediate rsvp'er, so I don't get the waiting. I did say to rsvp by the 10th, so I guess I shouldn't stress until then. I think deep down I'm seeing it as these parents don't like me and it has nothing to do with Cadence. How vain is that?

I’d just wait until the 10th and see who responds. FWIW I have gotten exactly 2 rsvps to H’s party and I sent our the invites a week before you.

yummeecookee all of the party places around here are pretty expensive. We are renting a room at the community center which is free. I’m going to be getting some decor, food and will be planning a couple of games. One thing I’ve heard of is doing big parties every other year, and a low key one on the years in between.
