Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear that he's doing well. I hope the 24 hours on mag isn't too terrible.

CONGRATS ssm!!!!!! I hope his stay is easy peasy! When do you go home? no idea yet. Most likely easiest is Monday. I'm so far recovering well. But with ds1, Friday delivery, 24hrs on mag, and then your normal delivery recovery starts. Which left us leaving on Monday. I'm recovering well my night nurse says. I get up without much help to go to the bathroom. I'm not in much pain (excluding headache and abdominal pain when I'm standing upright which....duh I had a baby. lol). Walking to and from the bathroom pretty well. I'm able to eat and keep food down (which was a surprise. I'm lucky they are letting me eat apparently...most throw up food so they don't let them). So I'm passing my first milestones right now. I will have different milestones once I get off mag and down to the regular mother baby rooms. The magnesium and bp meds are still managing my bp. Once that stops, I have to be able to regulate my bp or stay on bp meds. We have to see how that goes. That's the biggest issue. Managing the bp. I just called nicu. He is doing great. He has been maintaining his temp well. Got a bath and is all clean and cozy and still maintaining his temp. He has eaten well. His sugar dropped once below the threshold, barely. But the next two feedings and checks he was perfectly fine. As long as his temp is maintaining, she is going to try and move him to a regular bed instead of keeping him in the warming bed. He has dropped a little in weigh, about an ounce, totally normal. They have a video system where once I get all the paperwork setup, I can watch him on my phone!!!!! Eeek!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS MAMA!!! I'm so excited for you! Glad to hear he's doing well!
Jealous of your NICU cams. I need to add that suggestion to my hospital survey.

I haven't updated in a bit. So here is the latest....
It is a slim possibility I may get to come home late tonight. But my bp hasn't been cooperating this morning...so I'm honestly expecting tomorrow for that.
He won't be coming home soon. He is performing exactly as expected for being 34wks. He is needing a feeding tube for some of his feedings. He eats some from a bottle, but is too tired to drink it all. He is under the bili lights (dh is waiting to check with his dr today about if he can come off or if he still will be on them more). He is not quite keeping his temp up, so he's in the warming box. It is just barely under the limit. So he doesn't need much help, just a little.
All in all, he is exactly where they would expect him to be. He is doing normal 34wk things. He is at the minimum level of interventions. So, that's really great.

I'm glad to hear hes performing as expected. I hope you/they can get your BP under control. It took a full 24 hours and some new meds before mine finally cooperated.
I hope you both are home soon and settling in to your newborn routine!

Glad to read your update, and that you seem to be taking all the NICU stuff in stride. I'm sure it's not easy! A minimum level of intervention sounds like as good a thing as one can hope for at 34 weeks, and I hope that he continues to do well FX for getting your BP under control soon, too!

Hopefully they can get your BP under control and happy to hear that he's right on track even if that means a NICU stay.

It's been a crazy few days....but, just a little update 😍
As of last night, W is less than an ounce under birth weight. He has had to have bili lights, a feeding tube, and incubator. But, those were all on the lowest settings. Yesterday he took 2 entire feeds by bottle!!!! He was too tired for more the rest of the day. But 2 entire feeds is much more than he had been doing. He had only been taking partial feeds by bottle. He was only barely needing the heat on from the incubator...just barely.
B got to come see him again. It was nice to cuddle with B. It had been a couple days since I had seen him.
I had a few scary hours though. Yesterday my bp spiked quite high, even on meds. I had to have 2 extra doses immediately. They reinserted an iv just in case my pressures didn't come down with the pills. Thankfully, they did come down, but I was really close to being put back on mag or at least an iv bp med. Things finally stabilized and I was able to avoid iv meds and mag. But the entire rest of the day I felt completely awful. They may discharge me today. I haven't had anymore spikes and all my readings since have been fine. I'm still trying to keep low key though. It was quite scary to be honest.

I'm so glad to hear W is doing well and taking feedings, but am sorry to hear about the bp spikes. How scary. It's good the doctors are paying attention to you, and I hope everything stabilizes really soon! Hang in there.

Sounds like your little guy is doing well but sounds like your situation has been a bit scary. Hopefully today has been better for your BP and things are more under control.
