BH make my belly go very tight to where I can see a lump of DD's something. Lasts about 15/20 seconds, no pain whatsoever just very right I don't remember them hurting with DD, but these ones definitely feel cramps. I'm assuming they are BH? They don't feel like full on contractions Baby is probably in a weird position where something is sticking into some part of you, so when you get BH, it's painful where there's less space.

I made this face in my staff meeting today: Because my boss was telling people to make sure they have emergency sub plans made because "you never know what could happen, for example (Miss KJ) could go into labour tonight and need a sub tomorrow". At least three people in the room said "WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?!" and one looked at me and said "I am knocking on wood so hard for you, whaaaaat". I laughed it off but WHAT THE HELL. This is the same person who told me my reaction to a student hitting me with a spitball last year was just because I was hormonal from being pregnant, so it's not like it's a HUGE shock when a comment like this is made, but damn. If I do go into labour tonight it's her fault. (I won't. I will go to at least 38 weeks. I will. It will happen.)

We aren't supposed to have water in the lab, but I think I'm going to have to start sneaking gulps of it out of my work bag. I can't do this nonsense for another 8 weeks. Screw the rules. Medical exemption. You need to stay hydrated. +1 thatgolfb seriously. Bring the water in or do what you need to do to drink it. That was the number one thing that set me off with contractions.

thatgolfb I'm glad it wasn't anything serious and that you're home resting now! I agree with making sure you're able to drink water at work from now on. Everyone's utes need to calm the heck down! +1 for not knowing what contractions feel like. I never had a single one, Braxton hicks or otherwise, with my first pregnancy. I feel like a total newb.

My copy arrives Thursday, and I have to figure out how to get alone time to read it... Time to lock yourself in your room and say "mommy has a headache". I'm debating if I just want to binge-read it all in one day, or pace myself. I haven't looked to see how long it is. I think I'm going to binge because my mom is wants to borrow my copy when I'm finished. I'll need tissues and a cozy blanket.

I'm starting to get the "When are you due again?" question along with an unbelieving glance toward my belly when I tell them I still have 2 months to go.
One girl I work with told me that I must hide my bump really well on a day-to-day basis because I looked much bigger in the maternity photos I posted. Uhhh thanks?

The amount of editing I've had to do today on grammar mistakes in my comments has been unnerving. I'm losing it.

Yikes misskilljoy, that's a jinx!! I mean, at my team meeting today we decided I need to start training people ASAP because our work is on a monthly schedule, so in case I don't make it to the end of October we'll have had a full month, but still. I look forward to having everyone trained up and having nothing to do for the last two weeks of Oct (hahaHAAAAA!) Glad everything seems okay thatgolfb, take it easy! Well that wasn't the nicest thing for your coworker to say pootsen! I am definitely starting to feel large though.

blabbermouth yeah I fully admit that I'm getting huge, I guess it's just weird to have people staring at my stomach and making comments about my size. Definitely makes me feel self-conscious.

thatgolfb did the contractions end up being real and showing on the monitor? Happy you're home and resting! Stay put little golf! LOL nope! She said she couldn't really see anything. So I am sure it was just Braxton hicks. My water broke last time so I really don't know what I'm supposed to be feeling. 😂 like I know I had contractions last time before I got the epidural, especially because they gave me pitocin, but I cannot remember what they feel like. I know they hurt because I asked for the epidural... IDK what is wrong with me. Lololol.

That was the number one thing that set me off with contractions. I'm definitely going to. My boss will understand. I am also going to talk to her about not doing the early shift if we can avoid it, because it is the most active shift. I know we are short staffed and she has been assigning me to that shift for reasons, but I just can't do it so much anymore. Maybe once or twice a week, but 3-4 times a week is wearing on me. My coworkers actually had said they will switch shifts with me if needed which I really appreciate.

I remember (pitocin) contractions being the worst period cramps EVER. And I had bad ones when I was younger. And had a kidney stone when I was 15. The pain was very similar. Just in a larger area. My water broke with DS, so I'm in a similar boat about not knowing early non pitocin contractions. The couple times I had PTL with my son, the doctor had to point out that I was having contractions every 5 minutes.
The contractions I've had recently feel like mild period cramps. My BH are painless, just lots of tightening.

People say "you'll know when you have contractions" but... I really don't know if I will. And my boss has not been helping with her stories of how many teachers have gone into labour at school when she's been the admin there. Including two who didn't know they were in labour!
I didn't really labour much when I had DD and it's all a blur. I went from not in labour, failed induction using Cervidil, no contractions, 1cm dilated (but had been for 48 hours) and not effaced at all, baby at -3... to 'oh wow I have a kid now' in an hour and a half. XD My epidural failed so in theory I should remember my contractions but I was so focused on telling the nurse that everything felt different and she needed to check my progress (and also pissed that my husband was about to miss the birth of our child, LOL) that I do not remember what contractions felt like during labour at. all.

Also, just in case anyone was wondering whether it's okay to take iron supplements at the same time as their prenatal: do not. It is the worst. You will regret it. No, your body does not "just need time to adjust". I finally started spacing them out after a month of misery and I am so much happier.

I was laying bed watching a movie when my contractions started with DS. At first it was like a niggle pain for about 30 seconds then would go away, come back every ten minutes or so. After 3 hours a light bulb went off in my head thinking well these little pains keep coming every ten minutes. And once I realised what they were, it's like my body let go. They kicked up a gear, and got to a solid 5/10 pain. Enough to still speak through, but it hurt. I had a shower, sorted stuff out and waited until 9pm (H gets off work) and called him to say it's time, and my Mum. I was 3cm when I got to hospital and they told me to walk around to encourage contractions to get closer, I had another shower in my mums ward (matron) and that's when my waters broke all over H, and they were green so I had to be closely monitored due to DS pooping inside me.
I know we only have a handful of FTM's but if your waters are anything but clear fluid go straight in to L&D. I only knew this because of being told in my birthing class, if I didn't go to that I wouldn't have had any idea what the weird green waters were

My kid woke up at 530 for the day. Makes getting ready for work much harder. And we have open house today so I have a 13 hour day ahead of me. The only saving grace is prework snuggles I don't normally get. And we were told to dress down in SU gear for the day then change before open house. Wear jeans and a t-shirt to work? Don't mind if I do!
