Tell me honestly if this is terrible. H and I throw names at each other jokingly all the time and i suggested Thackery, like from Hocus Pocus as a joke, but we both admitted to each other last night that we actually really like it. Is that an awful thing to name my son? Will he hate me? I liked Hocus Pocus but barely remember it. To me the name sounds like Zachary with a lisp. Sorry if that sounds harsh!! I umm wanted to say the same thing in my PP, but didn't want to sound mean.

There is a little boy named Thatcher at my church and I kind of love that variation (I think it's a variation?) of the same name. I'm slowly realizing I love last names as first names.

I suck. 10 year old taitai definitely had a crush on Thackery, so while the name is NMS, it now has a soft spot in my heart

I want to hear all sides so I'm going in with eyes wide open if i go with it. I may still decide i hate it tomorrow.

trinitrotoluene , I agree that people will think you said Zachary and there will likely be a lot of correcting/spelling of his name. PDQ this part. What do you all think of the name Gray as a first name for a boy? It is a family name and we don't want to lengthen it to Grayson or other variation. Our last name has two syllables if that helps. DS1 is *poof*.

CoachTsWife, I actually love Gray as a boy's first name. I personally wouldn't use Grayson (I used to know a kid in 3rd grade named Grayson and he was mean) But Gray is good

We somehow agreed on a boys' name for the third time, woot!
I want to be in the don't-tell-anyone camp, but I'm a little nervous that my cousin is due with a boy a month before us and has similar taste in names. I'll use the name no matter what, but if we don't say anything until after she announces her name, I feel lots of judgment coming from my family if they're the same. Ugh.

We started telling people our girl name thinking we were 100% decided and now we might change our mind! Ahh. With DS we didn't tell anyone the name until he was born and I already regret our loose-lipped approach this time.

CoachTsWife, I like the name Gray! We are going with Grayson and I already catch myself calling him Gray sometimes. I know you aren't wanting to lengthen it to Grayson but I like Gray by itself just fine too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have a cousin due a month before me and her sister a month after me. Both are team green. The one due in September doesn't want to talk boy names with me in case she likes one of my names. She doesn't care if our kids have the same name but our family would never let me live it down. Her and her sister have very different tastes in names so they're not worried.

Question for your guys. How do you feel about alliteration?
I've never been a fan however, I like about two boy names (maybe) and one of them begins with the same sound as DD's name. DD's name begins with K and the boy name I like begins with C. Both "K" sounds". WWO17D?

My only concern would be trying to remember which name is which when you're upset and trying to come up with a name, you know? Then again, that will probably happen no matter if the names start with the same sound or not lol. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

This will definitely end up happening regardless. I was always my brother's, cousin's or someone else's name to my grandma growing up. She would just say all of our names each time because it was easier that way. LOL

My sister's and brother's names both start with SH (mine does not). If that is the boy name you like best, I wouldn't let that keep you from using it. At all. I think the issue of calling the wrong name will happen regardless. Mom brain, AM I RIGHT?

Mine are both boys but I've heard my friends w boys and girls do this too.

I personally wouldn't mind it, but I know I'll call my kids' the wrong names anyway. As CoachTsWife said, we can just blame mom brain.

If we go with the boy name Ed.ward, it'll be the same initial as DD. I'm ok with that.
