Lol baby is still cookin! Looking good, I'm just hangin out and going to try to sleep soon.
H went home to take care of the dogs and a few things and then he's heading back to sleep here too. I kept trying to push him to sleep at home so he can SLEEP. He needs it so bad. But he insisted on coming back. It makes sense I guess though, we're more than an hour away so if something happened overnight at least he'll be here.

Oh and earlier we had a NICU pa come in and go over everything with us. She was great and calm and gave us a ton of info BUT as she was wrapping up, a code blue nicu announcement came over the speakers and she BOLTED out. So 1. I was already crying because she was juuust saying how even best case we will most likely be discharged while baby stays, and then 2. I was like omg emergency. And lost it for a few. She came back in and told us the call was for a mother in there and she's ok; I think she saw the terror in my eyes.

Yikes.
Also will be me at some point even with an epidural I'm sure.

For some reason this reminds me of the episode of Friends where Rachel has her baby. The endless revolving door of women in labor that she has to share a room with. Glad baby is still cooking, and hopefully screamer lady gives birth soon so you can get some sleep!

It's stopped so hopefully she has a happy newborn over there!

Ahhhh thechickencoop so exciting! And nerve-wracking, I'm sure...but your hospital sounds great, fx for a smooth delivery when the time comes and a short stay for all. Last time around I totally shared a wall with a woman going med-free, shit got LOUD! It all happened overnight, too, when I was supposed to be "resting" during the first part of induction.

CoachTsWife, as someone who IS sick at 37w, I'm glad YH vetoed that decision! Definitely not worth the risk.

Re: toddler pillow, we gave one to DD around 2 (still in crib) after I noticed she would lay her head down on our throw pillows. She starts off sleeping on it maybe 50% of the time, but she still flips around a lot and hasn't quite got the whole pillow and blanket deal figured out yet.

Happy Friday everyone. We had a good wrap up to the week here. DS has been really cute and well behaved the past few days, which has been so nice. I kind of just want to freeze time and have him stay this way forever. He is now really into neck rubs and foot massages. In the morning before school, he will come over, lay on his tummy next to me, take my hand, and put it on the back of his neck...like, get started mom! He only wants the massage for like 5-10 minutes, but it is so adorable. I love it. 😍❤️💕😍. As for pregnancy stuff - just feeling totally huge and I think I've convinced myself that the baby turned back to head down. I know if he is still breech at my appointment next week, I'll be disappointed. But at least I'll be willfully content and in blissful denial for the next 6 days...😅😂 That's too adorable! There are times when DS does the cutest things and it just makes up for all his exasperating smart attitudes lately. Cherish those moments! About baby being breech. I think you're like a couple weeks behind me and I believe bubs can still flip around up to 36 weeks? so you still have time. SaveSave

chitownsully Happy belated bday to your DD! Did you guys celebrate with Molly's? 😁 The 70 balloons idea sounds really fun too. I might steal that and do it for DS' birthday in March. cougarette Have you decided whether you are staying or leaving for Irma? I hope you and thatgirlrachel aren't affected by it too much. It looks like such an intense storm - I'm worried for my family members in FL. They're mainly on the gulf side (with a few on the Atlantic side too). The storm looks so big, it seems as though both coasts will be affected. Based on the current track we'll stay. We'd be getting outer bands of a 1 or even tropical storm. Is better to be on the eastern side. We'll get lots of rain, but I'm not in a flood area. We'll make our final decision tomorrow I think. Oh I was wondering if you were in the vicinity. Glad to hear you won't be in the thick of it but hoping for the best. Storms are no joke. I feel horrible about the devastation in the Caribbean and worried about my friends in Miami. SaveSave

cythe Here birthing rooms are private and you have 1:1 care with a nurse. 4 hours after birth you are moved to a regular room, our health care covers a non private room with up to 4 people depending on the hospital. You can pay out of pocket for semi or private. My health benefits through work cover a private room so as long as it's available ( and they usually are) I get one. The 4 to a room is in older hospitals that haven't received gov't funds to renovate yet. Usually on the birthing unit they try to keep it to 1-2 people per room. Edit to clairfy, when you labour and give birth private room up until 4 hours after you give birth. By birthing unit I meant recovery, do you are moved to a separate area. I'm pretty sure this is standard across the province but obviously there would be some regional differences.

thechickencoop, Glad everything is going well for you so far! I'd cry if I had to share a room. At my hospital, you labor, deliver, and then recover in the same room the entire time - you never change rooms. Also, for routine vag births, baby never leaves the room. They do all the measuring, bathing, etc right there in the room with you. And the rooms are huge with a recliner and a full size sofa for guests. Basically, I love my hospital.

August Blooms, dang I didn't think about people dealing with older hospitals that might need to share a room. Our hospital is fairly new (built in my lifetime) and the birth center is like thatgirlrachel - birth through recovery all in the same room with baby in with you the whole time (except for getting a circ or if you use the nursery). Though the rooms aren't super comfy for guests - no recliners or comfy couches. When I was giving birth to DS1 they were doing some renovations in the birth/pediatric wings so shortly after birth we got moved into the pediatric wing. Rooms about the same though - still private. Super annoying construction workers outside the room though, making lots of noise at all hours.

I just got a letter a few weeks ago letting me know that my hospital is adding 2 extra floors - directly on top of the L&D floor. I can't even. I'm hoping in go into labor on the weekend when no one is doing work.

Probably tomorrow! We're still chugging along. Spoke with the OB just a bit ago, he said ultrasound looked great, fluid was great, slightly low but....duh because I'm ruptured. He gave a weight est of 5 lbs which is what the MFM said last week too lol.
So they're going to monitor me today still, any sign of distress or infection then they'll start the induction right away. Otherwise we'll hold off until overnight or early morning for pitocin.
Eek!

Omg whyyyyy do they keep putting the med free birth people in the room next to me??!! Ggggaaaahhhh.
There's like 16 rooms and they're pretty sound resistant, for the most part but damn if people screaming at the top of their lungs doesn't come through the walls.
Get thee woman an epidural!!!

thechickencoop There was a lady that I could hear down the hall when I was giving birth to DD, then about 1/2 hr later we heard a baby... I'm not entirely sure why their door wasn't closed because I could only hear her when mine was opened. Hopefully you can get some rest.

I only heard one screamer lady night, but apparently the unit was full of pre-eclampsia patients, which was apparently really weird because every nurse commented on it.
