Hi, afternoon all. I'm sure MH is on his period and J keeps on waving or clapping at me when I tell her 'no'. Clearly today is going swimmingly Oh hello. I took about ten "mommy time outs" today. Every one was needed. Is there a full moon?

cookswithwine and jubilantsquirrel You ladies both stay safe. I wish maybe some of wine's rain could make it to @squirrel's neck of the woods. flamingo I can let you borrow Hs trophy! Jk! Yes as a mom oy do deserve the trophy. Or at least a nice bowl of ice cream. Also I can't recall what day count we are on, any news with your sister/BIL ? You are sweet to remember and inquire! So they got 9 mature follicles, fertilized 7, and as of yesterday 6were growing. I think she'll get the final word on Thursday as to how many they will freeze. 3 or more and they won't make her cycle again before transfer. 😬🤞🏻🙏🏼

goldenlove, there's several going from the Canadian boarder down into Oregon, but I think the closest one is about 90 miles away, so it's not super close. The winds are blowing just right so a nice cover of smoke has setteled over us. hangry, we're inside. It sucks too because it's over 90 degrees out and we don't have AC, so keeping the house closed up is uncomfortable and we're all a little hot and grumpy. But we're safe.

sophiegrace that's so scary! Positive thoughts for you and M! You'll get through it. flamingo I was thinking about you too! Bet you're glad you're up north and don't have to deal with this anymore! It's not looking like a direct hit so I think we will be ok. But ppl are crazy already. Plus adding O to the mix has me being extra cautious. Normally I would just buy some extra water and wine! tgrimes I hope you get some answers soon! Yes, hopefully by the time it gets there it will just be rain. It's funny, I lived in FL almost all my life--all but 5 years--and the first direct-hit hurricane I ever experienced was when we lived here in Virginia several years ago! Go figure. Usually when hurricanes make it this far north they just get a lot of rain.

sophiegrace cripes! Risking the flu sounds less scary than getting the flu shot with a crash cart on hand😬. Hoping she can outgrow those, how scary. tgrimes I'm sorry. Hopefully if it's hearing tubes will do the trick. Not that you need another thing to worry about..

To me that sounds like crazy talk tgrimes . I mean what do I know but it just doesn't seem like that warrants a concern of developmental delay since I've heard of babies who don't talk for quite some time. Prior to the pedi saying that did you as his mom have any concern? I don't know if starbuck would say the same but I can definitely say having twins the EXACT same age at the exact same time - they do things sooooo differently. AV has amazing "talk" and AB primarily grunts and occasionally will do "nanananana" or "mamamamamama". Is it possible he's done something at daycare and then just hasn't repeated it much ? tgrimes I can definitely attest that my two are very different. J started making more grunting and screeching ahead of K and we thought he would be the talker, then K took off babbling and started calling me mama while J was still screeching, and now J is catching up. I know you know that there's a range. W was a delayed talker and at 18mo we went thru the whole song and dance of a hearing test, speech therapy, and teaching him to sign certain phrases. He caught up quickly with just a little intervention. His issues came down to laziness. W understood at an above average level, he was just too lazy to bother speaking back. Reviewing some of the speech activities in my head, one thing you can try to do is hold toys up to your mouth and say the word really exaggerated. Like balls, dolls, cows, baba/bottle...easy words like that which are typical first syllable words. I do that sometimes with the twins (trying to avoid repeating all we went thru with W) and they think it's hilarious. That said and based on my experience with W, a hearing test seems a reasonable first step. I'm sure it's nothing, and probably before Oct 27 he will be babbling just fine (because don't they always catch up right when we are freaking out?). I wish you had been there because I'm sure you got the OMG version as opposed to being able to talk thru it with the pediatrician.

Guess who's still awake, more than 2 hours after bedtime. Poor girl is constipated because she just started actually eating foods and I guess I went too hard (just continuing to follow in M's footsteps sophiegrace). So she's all uncomfortable. I'm just hoping she'll go to sleep tonight and I'll have to pull out all the tricks tomorrow to get her to poop if she hasn't by then. I'll ask for reminders then.

M's allergist just called with her component blood work results. The parts of the egg and dairy protein she's allergic to are the most severe. Flu shot will be done in stages over a few hours in her office next week with a crash cart on standby and I need to continue with the no diary in my own diet until she's fully weaned. If anyone eats straight dairy or egg they're supposed to thoroughly wipe their lips before kissing her. I forgot to ask about what she's supposed to drink after being weaned because I kept hearing crash cart echo in my head. If she accidentally eats anything she's not supposed to, we have to immediately hit her with the first epi pen and call an ambulance. I did not expect this. An allergy, yes. Being given the fear of God over the phone, no. OMG sophiegrace. I am so sorry to hear this but so glad that you are aware!!

Everyone is freaking out over hurricane Irma down here. Water is sold out currently. My H said Costco was a war zone. I think everyone is being overprepared bc Harvey just happened and we had a super close call last year. But when other people freak out it freaks me out! I did book a hotel room to evacuate just in case. Did not have one last year and had to drive 10 hours which was not fun. Please stay safe!!

Ok wait...so are there babies actually talking/saying words *deliberately*? Like, looking at Dad and saying "Dada" (as opposed to just making dadada noises)?

N seems to be trolling me with breaking out the momomom sound when crying.. tbd if coincidence though. Otherwise all random babbling over here.

I feel like K is actually calling me mama now, where before it was just babbling it when crying. She will reach for me and say it. That started like in the past week. Jason still just crying it so I don't think it's real when he says it. First words can happen 10-14 mo, I think that's the range.

No real words here flamingo. Just a bunch of inconsistent babbling.

No real words here flamingo. Just a bunch of inconsistent babbling. Same. My MIL claims DS2 says Mama all the time when she watches him, but he doesn't really say it around me and if he does it's obviously just babble.

It's not looking good for me either. The news keeps saying that 85% of western WA residents don't have AC. We don't need it often but when we do it sucks not to have it. I'll never forget the summer where we reached 106 degrees. We lived on the 4th floor of a 1920s brick building in a corner unit with a million windows and all day sun. The carpet was hot, the couch was hot, my mouth wash was luke warm. It was gross.

Ok So I'm not all the way caughtb up so bare with me... tgrimes first I'm sorry. Those conversations are always hard. Monty had fluid in his ears and as soon as he got tubes he started talking more and making more sounds. If it is not his ears it is ok. You will figure it out and life will be different but still wonderful. Obviously Monty has developmental delays so if it goes that way feel free to PM me. I will say many many children need speech services at one point or another. Speech therapists are amazing and often their services are only needed temporarily. sophiegrace another I'm sorry. This is hard my sister works for FARE which is a nonprofit specializing in food allergies. They might be a good place for resources. Monty is currently on a hypoallergenic formula. It's super expensive ($50/can), but there are several options. I don't know that that is what they would have you Give her but it exists. They also make a version for older kids. Anyway all this is to say it will be ok. We are here.

But C was a super early talker as well (he could sing his ABCs 90% unassisted before he was a year and a half) - but then he never walked until 13 months where some babie sare walking at 9 months.

I was just curious about the talking since I don't have much to compare to. B had a couple words around a year old or shortly thereafter, I guess, but 'lost' them due to all his ear issues.
C is just babbling with the occasional momomom/dadada but I'm confident she's not actually referring to us at this point. Her first word will probably be in reference to her brother, who is her very favorite.

I'm pretty sure O's first word was No. lol it's the intent that matters, right? He hates to be put into his PJs at night. So I was trying to stuff him in them and he started saying Na Na Na! And then started crying! He also says dada pretty consistently and I definitely hear a M sound when he reaches for me but not as clear as dada.

D will occasionally say "mamama" with me and "dadada" with MH. I'm not sure if she means it other than she never says "dadada" to me or "mamama" to him. I'm pretty sure though that as of today she is saying "yay" deliberately when clapping. This is way early to me. DS didn't say his first word until 14 months.

Both of mine were saying "mama" but have stopped saying it. I don't know why. Im not sure if it was intentional but it was usually when someone else was holding them and if they did it the other person would point to me and repeat "mama" and they'd smile.
That said, AV 100% says Dada. AB used to but stopped. In fact he doesn't try to say anything anymore he just grunts and looks at what he wants.
AV seems to be trying to say words, she says the same thing over and over, it's just not accurate. Like "dog" sounds like "gsssh" but she plays with her dog stuffed animal and her dog book and Celine and she says "gssssh" consistently with those things.
And then she does the thing with lighting fixtures points and goes - "tisz" "tisz" "tisz"
