Last week of August, seriously where has this month gone? What's happening today?

DD is at daycare, I'm going to nap relax and clean up some of the house. I'm also going to make my hospital bag list and toss a few things in the bag. I'm only 32 weeks but I feel the need to check things off my to do list.

I know... I can't believe it's almost September. Unfortunately this week our temps are 100+ so it pretty much sucks right now. I honestly can't remember a time in my life where it was this hot late in the summer.
Volleyball camp today and then tonight H and I are touring the hospital where I'll deliver. We decided not to do classes this time (mainly because we don't have time/want to) and just go with the flow when I'm in labor.

It's 60 degrees and rainy here which means I bought ALL of the pumpkin spice things in to eat! My office smells like pumpkin and I dont hate it one bit.

It's almost September!! Not that it means much in my neck of the woods, Fall seasons tend to not really be all that fall-like. Womp womp, either way I'm ready for fall so bring on September!
Not a lot going on today. I went shopping and such yesterday so I'm thinking lazy day around the house. H comes home on Thursday, so I'm not so patiently waiting for that.

Had a really productive day yesterday and hoping to do the same today. Lots of freezer meal prep, cleaning, baby laundry, etc. I need to get a grocery list together for my kids' birthday party too. Cannot believe it's nearly September already. Just over a month till my due date and lots I want to get done yet!

Work this week has been getting me down and making me more and more ready for maternity leave to start, even though I'm nowhere near ready for baby to get here.
I work in technical customer support (mainly database and software support). It is a three tiered support, where tier 1 takes the initial request and handles anything easy, tier 2 handles the more difficult problems, and tier 3 is the developers that get pulled in if a defect is found or the problem can't be resolved with just tier 2 support. Tiers 1 and 2 make up the customer support team. I am on tier 2 and not to toot my own horn, but I'm easily on par with any of the tier 3 people I just don't have access to their resources because I'm in customer support and they're on development.
The current drama is that development is basically not doing any troubleshooting when we try to pull them in on a hard problem, so I'm stuck pouring through code trying to find the specific lines causing the problem to get them to even acknowledge any issues. Defect research and resolution is basically getting 0 attention from dev, except that every year these missed defects are how we run into major problems during crunch time.
Sorry for the wall of text~ cookies for anyone who got through it haha.

Today's adventure with DD is Mommy-Daughter pedicures, so excited! I go back to work Friday and I'm actually ok with it to help the time go faster! DD turns 3 next Friday and is moving to her new room and then I can really get the nursery set up and I cannot wait!

Add me to the "mentally checked out of work club". I am slowly getting caught up on the craziness of the start of the academic year which means I won't have anymore big projects before I go out.
We got the infant car seat and base down from the attic last night and I cleaned it/washed the cover. I'll be installing it as soon as the seat protector comes in tomorrow. I've also started my list for the hospital bag so I'll be picking up what I need from the store and packing it hopefully this week. My gut is telling me that this baby will come 1-2 weeks early, so I'm trying to have everything prepared just in case.

It was a really nice day today for us! DH and I went out to dinner for our anniversary, and the food was delicious! I haven't had much of an appetite this pregnancy, but I totally stuffed myself on braised ribs, corn bread, truffle mashed potatoes, truffle tender green salad, and a half-baked cookie for dessert. Yummmy. The chef of the restaurant is from Europe and he's kind of famous, so it was a really nice treat for foodies like us.
Also, it's the first date night DH and I have had since my pregnancy complications struck back in March...so it was really, really nice to get some adult one on one time before this baby shows up. When I was approved for modified bedrest in early July, we wanted to do a date night - but moving, DH's trip to the USA, and then colds/stomach flu kind of put a damper on everything. We're going to try to do at least one more date night out before this baby arrives - we need to take advantage of this time while we can.

Booooooooo developers!

cythe I didn't know that was a thing... It's raining. We were going to go in to DC today because my dad wanted to check out an Italian goods store, but we're just going to hang out. I may stop by the house to check on the dogs. Last night was their first night in the new house.

cythe, I didn't with DS. I'm sure they'd like it if you did though! I know some traditions are regional - like I learned with my first BMB that some people make signs for the door of their hospital room with baby's name/stats.

September is my favorite month. I LOVE fall. I'm excited to get to September on one hand, but cannot believe it is here on the other. I have a LOT I still need to do for baby. arimaythea, LT for support. I have worked in tech support before and I now work directly with developers in a different role. I totally get what you're saying. So sorry they are not doing their jobs. I now work with some amazing developers but I know how it is when you don't. Defects get fixed ASAP around here so I don't know what your people are thinking. So sorry. That sounds AMAZING Taitai! Happy Anniversary!

I went to get DS about 10 minutes ago, and that has ended with him sleeping on me in my bed. He is so cute though! He keeps leaning his head back and giggling in his sleep.

Good morning! Today is my mom's birthday so I'm about to bake a cake and take it over, as soon as H gets back with some eggs. Still rainy but at least it's only 70 degrees vs 95.
I'm trying to talk myself into signing on to work "behind the scenes" to get caught up while I'm stuck home on my vacation week. Blah

And now after reading the thread I realize I don't have an infant car seat yet. Where has my mind been this pregnancy? Get it together!

cythe we went back a week later and brought donuts for the unit and coffee gift cards for our two amazing nurses. I had an inside scoop on making sure they would both be there since they worked different shifts (my sister's friend is a L&D nurse where we delivered). I did nothing for my doctors because tbh I was annoyed with the practice at that point and literally saw them for less than 2 minutes every couple hours until I was pushing. This time around we will 100% give something to our midwife, just not sure what yet

My day started off super productive. Woke up early to pay bills and get dinner in the crockpot. It went down hill when I realized my dress was completely see through so I had to swing by my house after dropping DS off at daycare making me 30 min late for work. Gap maternity has let me down twice now with their clothing. I bought a slip so that I can at least get some use out of the dress.
My day should improve because I've decided I'm ordering jimmy johns for lunch.

+1 for not knowing gifts for L+D nurses was a thing.

Well, I went ahead and ordered 2 nursing bras from Kindred Bravely. They have great reviews about their products & customer service plus they offer a money-back guarantee even after the item has been worn or even washed. I now have a $10 coupon I can send to anyone else if you are interested in trying them out.

cythe, I think L&D gifts are a regional thing. We didn't do them with DD and won't be doing them this time either.

arimaythea Like for support, if I get this straight, people aren't doing their job properly and your picking up the slack? That sucks, I can commiserate, we just had a major issue that affected our clients significantly and we're finding all kinds of solutions and work arounds ourselves and the people above were not really helpful. Plus it went on for a ridiculous amount of time like at least 10 days. doodlemommy Have fun! Taitai Sounds like a great meal! caitost21 That sucks, I've found the gap maternity to be really hot and miss. Good thing you caught it before work!

Anyone a Packers fan? I'm on the field at a practice right now through work. It's such a cool experience! I'm taking a break sitting down but I'll post an Aaron Rodgers picture later on!

I'm not necessarily a Packers fan but growing up in South Dakota you had to choose basically between the Packers and the Vikings, so I chose Packers. How fun for you, though!

Hello! I started to post in yesterday's randoms, then I got called in for my 36w growth scan and the rest of my day was just crazy. Scan was good, but the tech said my baby might be SEVEN FREAKING POUNDS already, so T&Ps for my lady bits. 30 minutes ago I got an e-mail from my OB's office saying that an induction has been scheduled for 9/26 (EDD is 9/25 so that's assuming I don't go into labour first), I knew that was the plan but this just makes it really real.
I'm not sure whether L&D gifts are a thing here, I do remember wishing I'd got all my nurses' names and sent a nice card afterward, but I had crippling PPA/D for months and dropped the ball on... a LOT of things.

rebeccabunch That sounds so cool! Not a Packer fan (go Vikes!), but I definitely wouldn't hate watching a practice. DS and I had lunch with one of my BFFs this afternoon at a Mexican restaurant (mmm, free chips and salsa). We split an order of fajitas, and they were delicious. He's been sleeping for the past couple hours, but I think he's beginning to wake up now (I hear giggling over the monitor, lol). Time to get off the couch and be productive!
