Thanks for the check in yoshijo! How are your newborns doing?! Age: 5 days Milestones: slept more than two hours in a row yesterday! Good/Bad from the week: Good: she is unbelievably cute and I love just sitting here staring at her. She's also been more awake and alert this morning which is cool. Bad: breast feeding. I'm having such a hard time of it. She's been losing weight so I've had to start supplementing with formula but I really want to make breart feeding work, it's just so much harder than I expected. Between nursing and pumping I feel like it takes my whole day. Also, this kid doesn't sleep at night, but that I actually expected. Still sucks though. Questions: If anyone has useful tips for boosting milk production I'd take any help. I'm trying to increase my fluid intake and I know I need to eat more (it's crazy how easily I can forget to do that when caught up in taking care of her), but are there any other tricks?? How long did it take to get your production up? PICS!! Wide awake this morning: *poof* GTKY: What are some things you do to sooth/comfort baby? She loves to just lay on my chest. She falls asleep every time, it's so cute.

cali have you tried fenugreek? I can also send you a yummy lactation bar recipe that can help. Definitely make sure you're eating enough, even with my limited production abilities I have noticed that I produce just a bit more when I've been able to eat more. You're doing a great job!

Age: 9 days
Milestones: we are getting closer to getting her back to birth weight! She was 10lb 8oz on Monday, 10lb 10oz yesterday...we go back on Monday for another weight check. She's also much more alert these last couple of days which is fun. We also didn't have to do bili lights for jaundice which was a relief, she was a bit jaundice when we left the hospital but thankfully it improved on its own.
Good/Bad from the week: good- she's such a chill baby. It is amazing. She is also a great sleeper, I wonder if it's because of her size? She will give me 3-4hr stretches at night which I really appreciate. Third kid is a charm, perhaps? Ha. The only bad is that I have pushed myself physically a bit too much. My incision feels great but my abs are so sore. I have done some picking up of the kids' toys & laundry and I shouldn't have.
Questions: I just need good vibes for after next week when I'm solo parenting, I'm so scared 😭 PICS!!
GTKY: What are some things you do to sooth/comfort baby? Lots of snuggles & patting her on the back, she also really likes rocking in the nursery glider or in the recliner.

She is so cute, cali. Regarding supply, pumping right after feeding is the only thing that's really worked for me, since more milk removal boosts supply (You have to be careful with this though, bc I drove myself crazy with DS1 and was pretty much either pumping or feeding all day and night. With DS2, I don't pump after night feedings and it's made me less crazy while still helping supply). With DS1, I also ate tons of oatmeal, Brewers yeast, fenugreek tablets, mother's milk tea etc. You can also find lots of recipes for lactation cookies online. Honestly, I can't say any of those supplements helped me but it may work for you.

unicornsparkles, she's so cute!!! Thanks for the fenugreek tip. I'll try that. I made a lactation cookie recipe last night so we'll see.. thinkchocolate05, I think that's where I'm at with making myself crazy by always either nursing or pumping. It feels ovewhelming!

cali, I've been drinking mothers milk tea sincr he was born. You can drink up to 3 glasses a day. I think it's worked, but it can take up to 6 weeks for your milk to really come in I've heard. She's so pretty! unicornsparkles, I can't get over those cheeks! How are your newborns doing?! Age: 3 weeks tomorrow! Milestones: He's super alert and is establishing strong neck control already. Good/Bad from the week: bad: lack of sleep. Good: I think breastfeeding is going well, but he's pretty much attached to my boob 75% of the day. Questions: not at this time. GTKY: honestly I throw him on the boob for now. He likes sitting upright too.

Age: 6 weeks Milestones: 1st round of shots today. She did well with them. She's sleeping long stretches like 5 or 6 hours starting around 7 or 8pm sometimes. I'm still so tired though, when she gets up MOTN I am up for 90 mins, feeding, pumping, holding her upright Good/Bad from the week: Good-she's so cute playing with her piano gym, kicking and grabbing at the toys Bad- spitting up so much. We have an ultrasound for her next week to make sure she doesnt jave pyloric stenosis Questions: nada GTKY: What are some things you do to sooth/comfort baby? Swaddle, hold close to my chest and yell shhhhhhh shhhhhhh lol Pic from today

Omg I don't even know if he's gone ten mins this whole morning without being on th boob. Is this normal? He'll seem to be alseep, so I'll try to take him off. He'll wake up and fuss till I put him back on. I hope this is normal.

@easilyunamused I seem to remember a growth spurt around 2-3 weeks with DS, so maybe it's that?

Age: 11 days
Milestones: She was 3oz over birth weight at her first appt Monday so at least my boobs seem to be working 👏
Good/Bad from the week: yesterday was good and bad. She was a total nonstop crank from 10pm-1am, like nothing was working but then slept from 1:00-6:30!! I know I should have pumped but was too effin tired. I ended up waking her because my boobs were ready to explode lol.
Questions:
PICS!!
GTKY: What are some things you do to sooth/comfort baby? Nurse of course but I also try the light bouncing and shhhh shhh which is hit or miss. Sometimes I feel clueless about when she is fussy and end up just nursing her but not sure if that's just going to really bite me in the ass down the road. 😂

@easilyunamused, yup definitely 3 week growth spurt. That one and 6 week I remember being brutal 😫 How long does it last for? A couple days maybe 😢 The 6 week seems worse because it coincides with shots and when general fussiness can rear it's ugly head. I'm probably scarred from DD1 since she had colic

4 weeks today
I think we are finally through the first growth spurt. He is already out of newborn clothes, I can't believe he has put on two pounds and almost 2 inches, I don't remember DD growing so fast! Good: he is starting to sleep more at night. Bad: he and DD get tired at the same time which sucks when I am home with them alone which means one is crying while I am trying to get the other to sleep.
Q: he is really into his pacifier and just being held.

Age:10 days Milestones: gained weight appropriately at last visit Good/Bad from the week: he's just so cute. He snarls at my boob and then lunges at it to latch on, which always makes me laugh. He also may be a better sleeper than ds1, but way too early to tell. He has been crazy cluster feeding, like every hour, and I'm so tired and sore. It also makes me worry whether I have enough milk for him. Questions: Anyone going for stroller walks outside yet? I kept November baby ds1 in longer bc it was cold, but I'm thinking of starting (he won't be in close contact with people)

Age: 2 weeks Milestones: Her umbilical cord stump fell off yesterday! LOL Good/Bad from the week: Good - she's such a good nurser. I'm almost sad our pedi said we could skip the 2w weight check because I'm curious what she weighs now. Bad - her baby acne is out of control 😔 Questions: PICS!! GTKY: What are some things you do to sooth/comfort baby? A lot of times the only way she'll calm down is if she's laying on her stomach on my chest. Otherwise I sing and rock her.

We are still in the hospital from that uterine infection I had, so I'm all out of sorts. He usually calms down by nursing, I usually have him in a SwaddleMe Velcro swaddle, and he likes being walked around if those fail.

I'm still slightly sore from labor so I want to give myself some more time to heal. Luckily the weather has really cooled down too which is another thing I was waiting for.

Questions: Anyone going for stroller walks outside yet? We've been on two walks. One with me, one without so I could nap some. We just went around the neighborhood and it was about 70 outside. It was nice but too much for me yesterday. I was in a decent amount of pain afterwards and it was kind of annoying my H and MIL didn't seem to think a long walk could be an issue. Hoping to get another walk in today because I think it's supposed to rain the next few days and my mom is coming in today and she doesn't think babies should leave the house for the first 40 days... sooooo this is going to be fun 😐

thinkchocolate05 I'll probably take the kiddos on some walks in a couple of weeks, I'm waiting just because of my CS. We have a park in our neighborhood and it will be great to get us all out of the house without having to load up the car.

Wow addymac. I'm impressed you are already walking outside. I hope your mom doesn't put the baby under house arrest, lol. 40 days is a long time to not leave the house at all.

It's too hot here to walk outside and I was tired from just going to the grocery store. But now 3 weeks later, I'm feeling adventurous. We are going to an antique mall to walk around and try out the stroller for the first time. Im so ready to get out of the house!

@starzia, thank you so much for this. I've been struggling really hard for the past two days so I might actually do just what you did to give myself a break. I'm also going to make an appointment with an LC because I'm at my wit's end with bf-ing right now, it's such a struggle that I'm about to give up but I really want to make it work. I'm glad you recommend the LC because I've had mixed reviews from others. I'd also be really grateful for any resources you can share.
