Morning ladies! I got up early and jog/walked 2.8 miles before 6, so I felt pretty accomplished. Evie stayed with grandparents last night, so it was easy to get up and out early. We'll see if I make it a regular thing... If anyone wants stories about how crazy labs are, when you don't train them like lfig does, hit me up. I had the lab from hell during my first marriage.

So I've decided to get a second job. Just through the house building and until the holidays.. God help me.

I'm so tired. I'm waiting for the baby to wake up then we're headed to the kid's museum. I don't care about the eclipse but I do care about getting out of this house.

Morning. Nothing exciting here. Boss is gone. Coworker is gone. I have no motivation to work. I did manage to get up for a run this morning. I need to get back into that after taking 2 weeks off from being sick and then just being lazy.
Just emailed the pedi to get H in for a recheck on his ears. He's still snotty and poking at his ear again. I just want to get the tubes over with already.

So I've decided to get a second job. Just through the house building and until the holidays.. God help me. What kind of job are you thinking? Waitressing. I'm thinking one-two week nights a week and one weekend shift. My mom is fine to help with the boys and DH doesn't work every weekend.

Do tell. We used to joke that Flash (part lab, we think) made Marley look good.. Let me preface all stories with I am the one who picked Zeus from the litter we got him from. But he was an asshole from the start. I took him to puppy kindegarten, thinking that would help my relationship with him, because he was an alpha from the get go, but it didn't. Dog wouldn't listen to me for shit. When still married, the dog had anxiety, we couldn't keep him in a kennel because he would get out of it, probably pushed against the door so hard on the large all wire kennels. We tried to zip tie, which sounds terrible, but he chewed the ties off and got out. We would come home to random things chewed up. So we eventually kept him in a bedroom we only used for storage. Emptied everything out of it except his kennel and a treadmill. He chewed up the drywall. On all 4 walls. To the point that when we needed to do some remodeling, we put up wainscotting, because we would have had to completely remove and replace all the drywall. So when I separated from my ex, I agreed to keep Zeus when he travelled. In the matter of a day and a half, he managed to open my fridge and eat everything except for condiments, bottled water and beer. The 2nd day of it, I came home at lunch to see what he had done and he had SOMEHOW opened a jar of spaghetti sauce and a tub of butter and eaten them. The worst mess I've ever cleaned out of carpet (mind you, I rented). So I was able to put a large chair in front of the doorway between the living room and kitchen, until I could get a gate installed. After I installed the gate, I had a set of cannisters that sat right around the corner of the wall. He managed to get one of them, open it and remove the flour, all over the carpet. It was like a damn paper mache nightmare in my living room. I made a pan of brownies one time and left them on top of the stove, which he was so big, he just put his front paws on the stove top and ate most of them. He ate an entire pkg of raw brats one night before we were leaving the next morning to go canoeing. My cousin was my roommate at one point and he had the basement bedroom. He knew to shut his bedroom door, but one day he left it open. Zeus shut himself in the bedroom and freaked out, destroyed the carpet by the door, the trim around the door, etc. I made my ex pay to re-carpet the room since I was moving out shortly after. The scariest experience was one day I came home and found some trash on the floor. Looking at it closer, it was a box of rat poison...I had to rush him to the after hours emergency vet clinic, called my ex husband to meet me. He ended up being fine, but it was scary. He was a beautiful dog, sweet as can be, when he wanted to be. But too damn smart for his own good. I mean, seriously, he OPENED THE FUCKING FRIDGE!

I had to stop watching him when now H and I moved into our last duplex, there was no way to keep him out of the kitchen and the fridge was brand new, the landlords had just installed it. My first marriage ended in April, 2009, although we separated in November 2007. And Zeus was probably 7 at that point.

chrisy01 cagoldi I'm not sure what my schedule will be like, since it all depends on how my dad's surgery goes tomorrow, but would y'all maybe want to meet for lunch on Thursday or Friday? I could do a super late lunch or early dinner (like 3 PM) if I massage my work schedule but we have a lot of people on PTO so I won't be able to take any time off. Keep me posted.

So I can't be the only one looking at all these people warning others not to look at the sun like they're crazy, right?
No kidding? Pretty sure we all know this already and if you do look, it will hurt, and you'll immediately look away.
All these nutters on my FB feed are talking about keeping their companion animal inside and I'm like, yeah, unless they make a habit of looking at the sun and sustaining that gaze even after it starts hurting their eyes, they're going to be fine. Weirdos.

re: eclipse, I just got an email from our HR that they're letting our production crew leave at 11:30 for the day and that if office staff want to take a long lunch or leave early, it will be excused. HAVE PEOPLE LOST THEIR MINDS ALREADY?

My mom used to make us that Betty Crocker mix. I'm actually going to see if I can find that Duncan Hines one, Cher. Crossing my fingers there's no milk or egg. I made (super easy) banana blueberry muffins last week and they turned out nicely. I'm still not that confident in baking with egg substitutes so I'm pleasantly surprised when something comes out the way I hope.

Welp, this should come as no surprise to anyone, but since we're closing the office early, the girls I work with (and myself, of course) are going to a local winery for the viewing. I might like this whole eclipse thing afterall!

I love Jiffy Blueberry Muffins. I'm pretty sure the blueberries are fake but they taste awesome.
I asked DH this morning if the eclipse is so dangerous, why haven't we heard about that time in history when our ancestors didn't know what was happening so they a looked up and all went blind?
I got up at 6 to get a good boarding number on our fight tomorrow. Still ended up with one after family boarding so it was all for nothing because I can just do family boarding. Of course DH has a coaches meeting for DD's soccer team tonight when I need everyone settled early because we will be up at 3.
