Morning. We don't have big plans. H is coming over and my dad is watching DD so we can go on a date today. I have no idea what we're doing. We usually go see a movie, but there's nothing out we really want to see right now. We may just go bum around the mall. I'd love to go to the State Fair, but fair food and rides are out for me this year, so really, what's the point? Plus, rain. Yuck.

It is before 8am and I have made granola and I have muffins in the works. Going to get groceries after breakfast. Ugh.
We have a coaches social tonight. MIL is watching DS and she asked if he could just spend the night with them. He's never been away from home/us overnight and I can't decide what to do. A potentially uninterrupted night of sleep is tempting. Or will I worry/think about him being away from home all night? More ughs.

CoachTsWife I'm a big fan of uninterrupted sleep. I understand the hesitation. Has he spent a lot of time with her other than sleeping over? How late does the coach thing go this evening? If we're out past bed time DD usually just stays at my dad's so she can have as normal a routine as possible. I'd rather her sleeping when she's supposed to than drag her home and get her to bed late.

DD is in a great mood this morning and making us laugh. We are going to the farmers market and the playground by the lake this morning.

@mkruper he does see her a lot, but usually at our house. She would normally put him to bed here and then go home when we get back. We'll be home by 10, I'm sure. The other unknown is how he'll sleep there. DNW a cranky toddler tomorrow because he slept like crap in a pack n play. He's in a twin bed at home.

The weekend started off well over here! DS has been suuuuuper attached to me lately. Probably because he has a cold, but I am enjoying all the snuggles just us two while I can. He seriously had me read to him on the couch, snuggled under my arm, for like 3 - 4 hours today. It was really sweet, but I don't want to see Richard Scarry's Best Storybook Ever for a long while....DS wanted to hear so many stories over and over and over again....
We also took DS down to the pool, which he loved. All in all - a good day! Tomorrow we're doing waffles!

CoachTsWife that makes sense. Is there a reason she wants him over there vs. what you all typically do with her putting him to bed at your place?

@mkruper who knows. She probably thinks it'll be fun/different for him to spend the night at their house, plus I think she likes to go to bed earlier vs driving home late. They live 10 minutes away.
I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it is, I realize....

As long as they have working smoke and CM detectors, are mobile and trustworthy I'd let them keep him for sure but my boys have my staying overnight w my p's since they were maybe 6 months old. Once DS2 is born you may love this option of DS1 having a special overnight at grandmas and it's likely a good time to practice!

rebeccabunch yes they will watch him when we're at the hospital most likely, the plan was for them to be at our house. I'm leaning towards letting him go, I think maybe it is just hard the first time...? Idk. Plus I think she'll want to do this on the regular now and I don't know about that just yet.

DD has been staying at my dad's fairly regularly since she was 4 months. Special snowflake though because we lived with him and the guys for 6 weeks after she was born, so I had no reservations leaving her overnight.

CoachTsWife this is a completely biased opinion -- I WISH someone would offer to take DD overnight (or even put her to bed) -- but I say do it! There's always got to be a first time, right?

Just finished week 1 of our 2 week vacation. Spent last week in a beach view condo with my parents and sister (and H and DS). We had a great time! Now we are in a waterfront home on an island about an hour from the first vacation spot with the in-laws.
I mentioned in a thread a bit ago about how the in-laws keep their thermostat at home at 80 degrees. By some miracle the house we are staying in has 3 thermostats, one of which is just for our bedroom. We can set that nice and cold. Thank goodness!

CoachTsWife it might be a mute point by now but do it! I was fairly nervous the first time DD slept over at MIL but she did fine and once I fell asleep it was glorious. Also, not waking up to a toddler is awesome. arimaythea that's awesome about the thermostat. If we had one for just our bedroom (and weren't paying the electric bill) I'd have that thing set to arctic conditions. Taitai my mom has a couple of Richard Scarry books but says they are for grandmas house only. DD loves them so we check them out from the library time to time and just don't tell grandma. Enjoy the snuggles today and the waffles tomorrow!

I've been super cleaner today. Since H and I are both teachers and this was our first week back at work the house was looking quite neglected. DD and I will go grocery shopping later and H and I may watch a movie later for some quality time together ( i've been asleep before 8 o'clock every night this week since school started!).

I pulled out the newborn clothes and it seems that a lot of them have this yellowish stain on them. I make sure clothes are stain free before putting them in storage so I'm not sure where it came from. I'm going to give them a good soak and wash and see if that helps. I have about 20 nb onesies and 4 pants. Not sure how that happened lol
Went out for dinner with friends we haven't seen since New Years, their daughter is 13 and DD took to her right away so I had a little adult conversation until DD decided she wanted to run around.

Mine were like that too, August Blooms! I told DH that I would not have stored them like that. I sprayed them all with spray and wash and then washed them. Must of the stains came out, but some remained. I figure those will be for when we aren't going anywhere, lol. What's really weird is most of the 3 month stuff was fine. The only thing I can figure is maybe the spit up wasn't completely washed off?

We went to the open house this morning. One of DS's teachers is moving up with them, so that's good. They also said that they start potty training about 6 weeks after the new class starts. I think we'll focus on moving him to a bed first then potty training a little closer to when they'll be doing it.

Well DS is at the ILs. It was nice not to feel rushed to get home to relieve the grandparents so they could go home. I'm still a little sad to spend our first night apart, but overall it is ok.

August Blooms cougarette same thing happened with some NB/3m clothes over here! I know everything was washed before I put it away, I guess the spit up wasn't 100% gone from the fabric? Plan here is to soak in oxi-clean before washing.

cougarette and August Blooms +1 to whoever said soak in oxiclean. Milk protein from spit up (more so from breastfed babies but formula too!) can appear to be washed out but obviously shows up after time as yellow stains. DD was super spitty so must of her clothes had spots when I opened the box 2+ years later. I let most everything soak overnight in oxiclean/hot water and everything came out.

Woke up early this morning to DS throwing up. I was able to catch it in my hand and DH helped me get him to the bathroom. This is the first time DS has thrown up (other than baby spit up). He calmed down pretty quickly then went right back to sleep, though I've been awake sitting next to him. Hoping it was just a fluke since he otherwise seems alright - don't want the poor little guy to be sick for vacation! Taking it easy today just in case.

@all the ladies with stains on clothing -
Leave them out in the sun to dry if you can. The sun helps bleach stains most excellently.

I think we need to convert DD's crib...she does not want to get in even though she is clearly tired. She will, however, lay on the floor on a pillow with her blanket. Last night she and I fell asleep on the floor of her room. Maybe it's time...

Santa brought Cars and Trucks and Things that go three years in a row bc they were read so much and pages inevitably ripped.

How did he do? Did you sleep? I think it's great he stayed over. You may really really enjoy the break once DS2 arrives.

@all the ladies with stains on clothing - Leave them out in the sun to dry if you can. The sun helps bleach stains most excellently. That plus spray on oxi-clean and or soak depending on how bad it is before putting it in the sun or can darken the stain more and harder to get off. When we got our hand me downs, my friend was horrified that there were a bunch of yellow stains and I told her its ok! NBD! I managed to get the stains off using both methods! - it helps that all the NB kimono tops are white so sun didn't bleach out any colours or patterns. SaveSave
