laurensc927 I would skip it. The nurses will help him feel confident before leaving the hospital. My hospital also offers a class after you give birth before leaving the hospital, so maybe look into that too.

mrspiatt - I think I would be equal parts excited and terrified about a move like that. I have heard good things about Belize though. A former boss bought a vacation home there a few years ago. Good luck with deciding!

I forgot it was Monday too blabbermouth ! I've been organizing everything in the house. I love nesting. It's so much fun haha (I'm pathetic, I know). I organized the medicine cabinet this morning. But.... I still haven't done anything to get ready for this baby yet. Want to come organize my spices? The cabinet I have them in isn't big enough so they're just rolling around and tossed in there all willy nilly. But I have to do some rearranging of cabinets to move them and it's too much work. I'd rather just get mad every time I open the cabinet and can't find anything and everything falls out. Because, yeah. haha I totally would! I love shopping at target for organization ideas then coming home and going crazy.

I was super out of it and delirious for a few hours post birth, so I likely missed a lot in those hours. But when I was finally human again he was just doing it. Skip the class. He'll figure it out or nurses will teach him. The nurses are seriously fabulous, just use them for everything.

laurensc927, - I did not take any classes either. I had not been around babies so I was nervous about knowing what to do but you do pick it up pretty quickly. I don't think it could hurt obvi but I think being thrown into it, especially with nurses around to help worked out ok for me. I did have a little issue with swaddling but thankfully a friend of H's and her husband brought us dinner the night we got home and helped me figure it out.

AnnPerkins thanks for the reminder! I want to sign DS up for one too! mrspiatt wow what a decision!! Hopefully you get some clarity on what is best! paperbagliz fx you don't have to deliver so far from home! That would be so hard!! laurensc927 we did a labor class, bfing class and infant care. I thought they were all super helpful for my H the bfing class he did not go to and I was only one of two women there without the FOB- it went over breast feeding pumping and storage but also how to bottle feed a breast fed baby (pacing, nipple/flownsize etc) which is what H needed to hear. I think it depends on how well your H takes direction from you but as a new mom I was glad to have taken all the courses!

Ok you've definitely confirmed skipping the classes, thank you, I didn't want to waste time on something that wouldn't be helpful. I'm planning on throwing him to the wolves post birth with a lot of "I can't get up yet" so that he'll be forced to jump in. Now to keep my mil away so she doesn't just do everything for him lol

jules1614 I think in this situation he'll do whatever I say 😂. But for real he knows I do my research and ask questions so he will defer to me to tell him what I need/needs to be done

I can already see her disapproving look when I suggest it and then comment something like I raised your husband just fine miss lol I've been avoiding her like the plague the last 2 weeks. I'm waiting for her to mention it to MH lol

My mom actually considered taking one when I was pregnant with DS because she was like uh I haven't taken care of a newborn in 26 years.

laurensc927 our previous hospital offered a 6 week, 2 times per week evening class that kind of involved a little of everything. Laboring methods, information on the available drug options, how to diaper and swaddle, breastfeeding, and I forget what else. I'm,glad we did that one. We also did a dogs and babies class that was extremely helpful.

I think the classes were more to help me mentally prepare, honestly. The nurses were helpful in helping learn to swaddle and diaper at the hospital.

We found beetles in our basement so we sent DD to my ILs today and we are now doing a top to bottom clean of the basement. Holy hell, this is hard while pregnant. Glad we are doing it now and not in two months.
We had to throw away a gorgeous gift my cousin gave us for our wedding (a wool blanket form Ukraine) because MH left it ON THE FLOOR, GOD DAMN IT, and the beetles got to it. I don't even know why he was using it. It was beautiful.
He also casually said to me while I was sitting on the floor, "Wow, where did that spider come from?" as a fucking HUGE spider walked an inch to the right of my hand.
So. He is on my shit list à bit today. I think I will be stopping at DQ for a treat en route to get DD later, lest my low blood sugar result in me killing him.

Today in embarrassing google searches: how much urine leakage is normal during pregnancy? I think my bladder has just given up. It feels like every time this kid punches my bladder, I leak a little. It's definitely urine too. Ugh. #glamorous

We had fun at the wedding last night and totally enjoyed a kid free night of sleep. Of course the little turds slept wonderfully for my parents. Now we're cleaning and doing laundry.

I did a general labor and baby how-to class before DD was born. It was like once or twice a week for about a month. My mom went with me since DH, at the time BF, was living in another state. I enjoyed it and think it helped me get in a better headspace about things.

quinn, I don't really do bugs either. I don't mind them but generally coexist peacefully. And by coexist, I mean they need to stay outside. This is killing me.

But, if you're in my home all bets are off! However, I won't go near them so thank god I have a house full of men to take care of it. You should've seen me while cleaning the garage! I was screaming about 90% of the time lol Good luck to you!

laurensc927, I thought the labor class was really helpful for my husband. I had been reading all about it in books and on message boards so I knew most of the material already, but it was nice to review it and have him there to hear it all without me having to tell him. It gave us a chance to talk about our options and preferences and just generally helped him to feel more confident and informed. We took a CPR course too which was fine and I don't regret it but I don't know how necessary it was. I forgot most of what we learned pretty soon afterward. I'll echo everyone else that the nurses on the postpartum floor will show you how to diaper, swaddle, give a bath, etc. We had a few really great nurses and learned a lot from them.

Long busy day for me, my mums birthday. H put up the cot in our room this morning, feels so strange knowing that DD will be in there.
Had a pedicure with my mum, was nice for some alone time with her, and we all went out for a meal for tea.
Exhausted. Watching GoT and then going to bed 😴
